And what sitcoms do you think appeal only to women??

Perfect Strangers and Will and Grace are Women Sitcoms.

Sanford and Son is a Men Sitcom

Perfect Strangers is definately NOT a women sitcom.
If anything Id say its a man sitcom.

Its more geared towards the family than anything.

Although I do agree about W&G and Sanford & Son.

Larry and Balki were not STRONG Male characters to me.

Larry and Balki were not STRONG Male characters to me.

By strong do mean it literally (like they're weak).... or strong that they have good personalities and are good characters to base a show around.

Because.... Frasier and Niles aren't strong (phsyically)-- but they're two of the funniest characters of all time.

There are no sitcoms that appeal only to men or only to women...... actually I wouldn't even say there are sitcoms that are GEARED toward one or the other.... and for obvious reasons, such as ratings... to have good ratings, the show obviously has to be watched by men and women alike.

I don't know, maybe I'm off with this, but...

Well Pefect Strangers was never in the top 30. So I know it had mostly a female audience. I just don;'t understand why a man would look at perfect strangers.

I Love "Perfect Strangers" and I'm a Guy. Larry and Balki just make me laugh (sometimes out loud).

"Lizzie McGuire" and "That's So Raven", to me seem to be more for girls than for boys. Although, I'm sure some guys watch them.

So.... that makes it funny.

Like I said earlier.... Frasier and Niles are wimpy.... but that doesnt make them any less funnier.
Actually.... they're the two funniest characters currently on TV.

Just because they came off as wimpy doesnt make it a bad show.
And it doesnt mean that its geared towards women.

why is W&G a woman's show? I know you're a fan of the show, but I don't like the common attitude that if you're either not heterosexual (W&G) or are straight but not quite Tom Selleck or Don Johnson (Perfect Strangers), you're a girl.

Thats pretty stereotypical to say that gay men will like the show only because it has a gay lead.

can you give me an explanation why you're 28 and 12 year old posters in here have more maturity? BarWars is 15 or 16 and I would've guessed he was 10 years older than you

Here are reasons why straight men might wanna watch W&G
1. Debra Messing is pretty
2. not all straight men are misogynistic and homophobes like you
3. they might be fans of some of the guest stars, the show depends as much on superstar guests as they are with the core 4 cast
4. some straight men can appreciate good comedic writing and don't have such a "macho" issue with a tv character's sexuality

Why do you place so much emphasis on whether a show is masculine or feminine? Gay men are STILL men, so a show about gay men is STILL about men even if it's not your perfect butch Tom Selleck/Bruce Willis definition of what a "man" is supposed to be

Same here. Looking back on all the shows I've been a fan of over the years, they're not exactly the kind that women are "supposed" to be into.
