Nate lied her body down on his countertop after supper he’d invited her to after work. He kissed roughly against her jaw, and she moaned softly against the feel of his mouth on her naked skin.

He hungrily pawed at her shirt and ripped it off of her, exposing her lacy bra. His fingers slid the straps of it down her shoulders as his mouth trailed directly behind. CD,
although nervous, was willing to do anything with him, but she couldn’t admit that yet TO him.

Nate glided the bra down her waist, and immediately transported his ravenous mouth to her breasts. CD groaned, arching her back, and moved her hands down to his belt to start unbuckling. “Let me stay the night, Nate,” she muttered as she unlooped the belt.

Nate’s previously free-moving body immediately tensed up. He stopped viciously kissing her, and reached for her shirt. He silently put it back on her, handed her her bra, and replied softly, “I think it’s time for you to go home, CD.”

CD looked at him in utter bewilderment. “I, uh, what?” she stuttered. “I’m sorry, I guess I read too much into what you were doing to me; I thought we were about to do something else,” she replied and sat up. “I’m sorry I was so dumb; I thought you finally wanted me,” she muttered and got up off the counter.

Nate sighed. “CD, it’s not that.....” he started.

She put her hand up to shush him. “Nate, stop, it’s not a big deal; I just thought when you started kissing me...” she stopped to grab her coat. “but I see I misunderstood. It’s not a problem, I just feel like an idiot,” she mumbled as she opened the door and left his apartment.

Nate unhappily started doing the dishes and wondered when he was going to finally break down and make love to that woman--the only person he ever wanted to be with for the rest of his life.

heat, stripped her clothes off and climbed under the relief of the heat. She sighed angrily as she cleansed herself but then stayed there, letting her skin burn a little from the intensity.

Nate lied in his bed later that night, feeling like a fool. He turned to the picture of her and him on his bedside table and stared at it for hours on end until he finally drifted off.

CD curled her body into a little ball under her blankets and grabbed a pontyhail holder from her side table. She forgot what she was doing when she picked the holder up; it was sitting by a picture of her and Nate, and she stopped to stare at it. “You bastard,” she muttered as she picked it up and brought it close to her body, gazing into his hurt-causing eyes. She fell into a slumber with him resting next to her.

Division--8:15 am

CD rushed into the Division, forty-five minutes early to talk to Kate. She didn’t feel like working with Nate today, so she had to make up an excuse to work with Jinny.

She walked into Kate’s office, and she had just hung up the phone. “Cap, can I ask you about assignments today?”

Kate looked up and smiled. “Good morning to you, too, Inspector.”

CD grinned. “Sorry, good morning, Cap,” she replied. “So now about assigments....”

Kate laughed. “What can I do for you?”

“Um, I really want to go out on the street today, all day, but Nate has some paperwork to do, and I don’t know when he’ll get done with it, so.....” CD paused to see if she was
believing it. She was positive she was, so CD continued. “Can Jin and I go out in the field together today?”

Kate smirked at the obvious lie. “Trouble in paradise?” she teased her.

“NO!” CD exclaimed. “Nate has a lot of paper...”

“Yeah, paperwork, ya told me,” Kate replied with a devilish smile. “I guess the two of you can work together then,” she paused. “His paperwork will be solved by tomorrow though, won’t it?”

CD nodded. “Oh yeah, he should be done with it by then.”

Kate agreed. “Fine, when Jin comes in, tell her and get in here, so I can give you your case.”

“Thanks, Cap!” CD exclaimed and turned around to leave, practically running over someone else who needed to speak to their Cap. “Crap, I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean.....” she started but looked at the figure on the floor that she’d knocked down. “What the hell were you doing standing there?” she hissed.

Nate picked himself up. “Appearantly finding out about all this paperwork I’m behind on,” he muttered.

“You were spying on me?! I don’t believe you!” she yelled.

“No, dammit, why would I want to spy on you?” Nate replied. “I had to ask Cap a question on the Brown case.”

“Oh,” CD replied and blushed. “But yeah, I told her about your behind paperwork, and I wanted to work in the field all day, so Jin.....”

“Has replaced me, I heard,” he muttered as he walked back to his desk.

CD sighed. “No she hasn’t, Nate,” she paused to grab about 10 files from her desk. “These need to be finished, you have some more that need to be done, so I needed a partner. You know what it feels like to need a partner?” she asked him accusingly.

“If this is about last night.......” he started.

CD snorted. “Don’t flatter yourself, I’ve obviously forgotten about last night until you brought it up just now,” she lied.

Jinny walked through the door at that opportune time.

CD grinned sweetly at Nate. “Excuse me, my PARTNER is here,” she emphasized and strided to Jinny to explain the situation.

After going into Kate’s office and getting a case, five minutes later the two women were gone.

“Bitch,” he muttered under his breath as he started filling out the rest of CD’s reports.

1 pm rollled around, and Nate’s stomach let out a huge grumble. “Where is she?” he
muttered to himself. After they’d started casually dating, him and CD went out to lunch
every day together. There were days when they were partnered with someone else, but
they always met up at the Division to go to Anchoside.

Twenty more minutes passed, Nate had munched down a couple of candy bars to hold
him off while he waited for CD. He was on her last file when her and Jinny came
laughing through the door.

“CD,” Nate announced when he saw her.

She looked over at him. “Excuse me,” she murmured to Jinny and walked to his desk.
“What is it? You got a question about a case?” she asked him nicely.

He shook his head. “No, but are you ready to go eat? I’m starving.”

“Oh, I’m sorry, Jin and I grabbed a bite about an hour ago; we were too hungry to
wait.”

Nate’s eyes widened. “Uh, why didn’t you call me? I’ve been waiting on you, so I could
eat!” he exclaimed.

“Nate, shhhh,” she replied. “I’m sorry, we got hungry, so we ate. It’s NOT a big deal.”

“Like hell it isn’t! I was starving, CD! All you had to do was pick up your damn
cellphone and call me!” he shouted.

Kate came out of her office. “Inspectors, everything ok out here?”

“YES!” CD and Nate shouted angrily.

“Follow me,” CD grumbled and led Nate into the interrogation room.

He sat down in the chair and propped his head on his arm. “What is it?”

“You know damn well what it is, look at me!” she exclaimed and grabbed his face to look
at her.

He shot back out of the seat, so they were face to face. “I thought you’d forgotten about
last night?” he asked her sarcastically. “So why did you purposely leave me today and
then “forget” to call me for lunch?”

“I didn’t want to work with an ******* today!” CD shouted.

“Good, I don’t want to work with a ****ing bitch! Maybe we should ask for
replacements!” he screamed right in her face. Their noses were so close they almost
touched.

CD completely forgot about their argument, grabbed his neck and pressed his lips
against hers. She wrapped her arms around him tightly as she pulled him down to the
table.

CD completely forgot about their argument, grabbed his neck and pressed his lips against hers. She wrapped her arms around him tightly as she pulled him down to the table.

Nate held onto her as he stroked her body as he lied down on her. She ripped the buttons of his shirt and immediately exposed his chest. She groaned at the sight of him and started kissing and rubbing over his nipples.

“Baby...” he muttered as he kissed at her neck, leaving a huge hickey.

“Nate, we need this,” CD tried to tell him as she grabbed at his belt loops again.

Once again, though, Nate tensed and sat back up to button his shirt.

CD looked at him angrily. “What the hell’s your problem?!” she exclaimed full of hurt. “Nate, why are you doing this to me?” she said as tears welled up in the corners of her
eyes.

Nate glanced at her and saw the tears that started to stream down her beautiful face. “CD, please don’t cry; don’t take it personally, it’s just.......”

“Don’t take it PERSONALLY!” she shouted. “Every time we try and have sex, you always stop! What’s wrong with me, Nate? Am I not good enough for you to screw?” she muttered angrily as she got up off the table.

“CD, you’re the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me. I don’t want anyone but you.”

“But you don’t even want ME,” she remarked as she opened the door, preparing to run away again.

“CD, stop,” he replied and wrapped his arms around her. “I can’t have sex with you on my countertop, and I can’t have sex with you in an interrogation room. You’re too good for that. You’re too good for anything I could ever offer you; I don’t deserve you, so I
can’t make love to you. I wouldn’t be good enough,” he muttered, almost in a whisper.

The corners of CD’s mouth started to curl up into a little smile. “Nate, you’re overreacting, ya dork! I’m not royalty! I don’t need anything fancy! I need YOU, and that’s all!” she excliamed and kissed his cheek.

He shook his head. “No, CD, you don’t understand; to me, you ARE royalty. I want to treat you like a queen for the rest of my life because I want to spend every waking second with you.”

CD grinned devilishly. “Prove that to me,” she replied and looked at her watch. “Let’s go home,” she suggested.

Nate took her wrist into his hands and glanced at her watch. “CD, it’s two in the afternoon; we still have three more hours to be here.”

She shrugged. “I’m sick, and someone needs to take me home,” she commented.

Nate grinned and raised his hand. “I volunteer!”

She smiled, grabbed his hand and interlaced it with hers, and the two of them walked to Kate’s office.

CD’s happy face disappeared as she let go of his hand as they entered. “Cap,” she said hoarsely. “Cap, I’m not feeling too well; can I go home early and make up the hours tomorrow or something?”

“CD, what’s wrong?” Kate asked her alarmingly.

“My throat hurts, and I’m having chills. I think I might throw up soon,” CD added. “Can Nate take me home?”

Cap coughed and figured out the real reason CD wanted to leave. She grinned slightly. “Sure, CD, if you’re that sick, I don’t want you driving. Call me if you need anything, though, alright?”

CD nodded slowly. “I will Cap, thanks,” she replied, and Nate and her left quickly.

Nate opened the passenger door for her.

“What are you doing? I want to drive,” she complained.

Nate smiled. “You’re sick, you shouldn’t be driving,” he winked devilishly at her.

She punched his arm playfully but acknowledged his requests.

He buckled his seatbelt and drove quickly to Green Street. CD made it difficult to drive smoothly, however; she snuggled up against him, kissing his neck and playing with his ears with her long fingers.

“Dammit, woman, stop it,” he murmured trying his hardest to concentrate on the road.

“Make me,” she challenged him as her hands moved down his body. She massaged his inner thigh and watched his face contort to pleasure.

“Baby, stop it, please, you’re killing me,” he replied as he finally turned onto her street.

“Nate! What are you doing?!” CD exclaimed as she hit his butt, trying to make him let her go.

“Teasing you, just like you were teasing me earlier,” he explained as he took her to her apartment. He unlocked the door, opened it, stood her back up, and shut the door behind them.

CD was waiting for him when he turned back around. She shoved him up against the door and kissed his mouth passionately. Nate grinned and put his arms around her,
kissing her back.

She fumbled with his shirt as she drug him to her bedroom. “So is my bed royal enough for me?” she teased through moans and kisses.

Nate pulled back. “No, it’s not, CD; I should at least take you to a nice hotel or something,” he suggested.

CD waited for him to break out in laughter, but he didn’t; he was dead serious. “Nathan Basso, if you don’t take me to my bedroom and screw me like there’s no tomorrow, I’m gonna force you to do it on a countertop or we’ll go back to the Division and do it in the
interrogation room. Do you understand me?”

“I, uh, sure? Uh, but I don’t know.....”

She kissed him roughly. “Don’t try to speak, you suck at it right now,” she commented and slung herself into his arms. “Are you going to take me, or should I go do it to myself?”

Nate grinned shyly and carried her to her bedroom. He laid her down softly on the bed and hovered above her while he took off her shirt. He slowly unzipped her pants and slightly caressed over her underwear before he threw her slacks alongside her shirt.

“You’re still overdressed, Mister,” she replied, grinning broadly as she took his shirt off over his shoulders. She grabbed out his jean loops and played with his belt buckle. “Every time I touch your belt, you always tell me no,” she commented. “If you tell me to stop again, I swear I’m gonna handcuff you to my bed and do you myself.”

Nate laughed. “I promise, I’m all yours this time.”

She smiled broadly as she took off his belt and kissed his throat. “Good,” she simply stated as his jeans soon joined hers in a heap on the floor.

Hours later after they had exhausted each other to no end, Nate laid with one arm wrapped around CD and the other was lazily playing on her stomach under the covers.

CD grinned. “What are you doing down there?” she asked him.

He smiled. “You have the softest skin I’ve ever felt,” he complimented her.

She blushed and kissed him. “And your lips are the smoothest lips I’ve ever kissed.”

He grinned proudly. “So kiss them again,” he suggested.

She giggled and kissed him gently again. “I love this, Nate; the lovemaking, the comfort of it afterwards, and you beside me. This all fits.”

He nodded. “Couldn’t have said it better,” he replied and started playing with her hair. “CD, I love you so much; I’ve never been this in love with anybody before.”

“Not even Molly? You were married to her, Nate; how could you not have been more in love with her?”

He smiled. “I was married to her because I hadn’t found you yet. After I came to the conclusion that there was a CD DeLorenzo out there, I decided I didn’t need her. I loved her then, but I could never love her or anyone the amount I love you.”

She grinned, deeply satisfied with his answer. “You want to do it once more?” she asked him hopefully.

He laughed. “I thought the man was supposed to be the sex-crazed one in the relationship.”

She giggled. “You telling me you don’t want to? That’s fine, we don’t HAVE to.....”

He playfully punched her arm. “You punk, of course I want to! I want to make love to you for the rest of the night, baby, but since we have to wake up tomorrow for work, how bout once more?”

CD smiled a devilish smile. “Twice more?”

Nate laughed as he began kissing her all over again. “You got yourself a deal,” he replied as they pulled the covers of them and made love, not once, but indeed twice more.

Several months flew by, and CD and Nate were working late at the Division. In actuality, CD was fast asleep on her desktop, and Nate was finishing up their paperwork.

Nate put his signature on the last file and stood up to wake CD. “Baby, it’s time to go,” he whispered into her ear as he lightly shook her.

She stirred and groaned. “Didn’t we just do it, Nate? I’m tired, maybe tomorrow night.”

He grinned and shook his head. He rolled her chair out a little and she mumbled obscenities as she tried to go back to sleep. He picked her up and rocked her into his arms, taking her outside.

He grunted and flung her around as he tried to open the door while still keeping her in his arms.

“Hmm?” she mumbled as her eyes fluttered.

He opened the door and sat her into the passenger seat. “Go back to sleep, baby, we’re almost home.”

She didn’t reply; as soon as the door was closed, her head was leaning up against it.

He drove them home and shook her to wake up when they parked outside her apartment. “CD, we’re home,” he told her.

She stirred and looked around. “What? Where did we go?” she asked, confused.

He grinned. “We just got done with work,” he explained.

“Oh,” she replied sheepishly. “How long have I been asleep?”

“For awhile,” he grinned and handed her her purse. “You want me to walk you up?” he offered.

“No thanks,” she replied. “I’ll be fine; thanks for the ride,” she said and opened the door. “See ya tomorrow.”

He leaned in to kiss her on the lips; she settled for one on her cheek. “Yeah, I’ll see ya, if you’re sure you don’t need......”

“I’m fine, Nate,” she assured him. “Goodnight.”

“I love you!” he called out to her but didn’t get a response. He watched her shut the door and walk up the steps into her apartment building. He sighed, a little annoyed that she
hadn’t invited him up again tonight. It had been ten days since they’d been together after work. He’d kept track, wondering what was wrong with her. A week and a half ago she’d
canceled a date with him; no explanation, just that she couldn’t make it. The next day she’d bitten his head off and her usually flawless face contained a black eye. She said she’d tripped and landed on the corner of her coffeetable; he chose to believe her
because he had no proof otherwise. From that day, she hadn’t confided in him, initiated a kiss, or let him stay the night with her. He cursed softly as he watched her light turn on inside and drove off quietly for another night of loneliness.

CD dressed for bed and stayed up to watch the news. Tomorrow, she promised herself. Tomorrow would be the day she finally broke up with him.

here's more, it's not much, but i'm gonna be late for school! ;)

CD walked briskly into the Division the next day. She’d tried many different approaches--
being overly nice and annoying to him, being a total bitch and making fun of him, and
she’d even tried blatant ignorance. None of that seemed to work, so she was turning to
her last resort-- brutal honesty.

Nate came in 10 minutes later and saw his partner already sitting there. “Hey, baby!” he
exclaimed as he kissed the top of her head. “How are you this bright and gorgeous day,
CD?” he asked her cheerfully.

She sighed, disappointed in herself for getting too attached to him. It was all too quick,
he wouldn’t want this, he wouldn’t understand the full effect of what had happened, so
she had to end it. NOW, before he infected her with anymore joy. “I’m fine Nate, and how
are you?” she grumbled, trying to make him angry with her.

He noticed her tone. “Well, I was okay until I got this chipper attitude out of you,” he
mumbled. “What did I do to you today?”

“Nothing,” she muttered and went back to her paperwork.

“CD, why are you doing this? I’ve been getting the cold shoulder from you for 10, make
that 11, days now. What’s wrong?”

“You’ve been keeping a number of days?” she retorted. “You are so weird,” she told him
as she stood up.

He put his hand firmly on her shoulder.

She glanced at his hand and then glared right in his eyes. “You better remove that
RIGHT now, before I kick your ass in front our all of our colleagues.”

He sighed heavily and took his hand off of her. “What’s your deal, CD? Is this a nice way
to tell me you’re sick of me? You’ve found someone else? We’re through? Which one is
it?” he asked her angrily.

She blew him off. “How about all three?” she sneered and left him standing there as she
went into Kate’s office to ask for another partner.

Kate looked over the paper that was thrown in front of her face. She slid her glasses off
and glanced back up at CD. “I don’t think you’ve thought this through, CD. So you and
Nate had an argument, work it out. If you can’t sleep together anymore, fine, you can still
be partners! If not, I can partner you with someone else here; it wouldn’t be difficult,
CD.”

CD shook her head. “It’s not just one argument, Cap, we’re incompatible. Incompatible
for our personal lives, but now I think we’re also not right for each other here either. I’ve
thought this through, and I want to transfer,” she lied to Kate, hoping she’d sign the
papers.

Kate sighed. “CD, there’s something else you’re not telling me; you are, however, lying
through your teeth to me right now, and I don’t appreciate it.”

CD rolled her eyes. “Just sign the goddamn paper, so I can leave!” she shouted as tears
formed in her eyes.

Kate reached out to her favorite inspector and gently touched her hand. “CD, calm
down. Tell me the real reason you want to leave.”

“I can’t!” CD shouted as the tears were released. “I want out of here, that’s all you need
to know!”

Kate shook her head. “I’m not letting my best inspector leave me without an
explanation!” she stood up and tried to put her arms around her.

“No,” CD replied and stepped back. “Please don’t touch me,” she murmured and looked
at the ground. “I don’t need condolence, I don’t need your sympathy, I just need to get
the hell out of here,” she muttered, collected her purse and coat, which she’d taken in
with her and left Kate’s office and out to the parking lot.

I am not liking this Lisa!!!! Don't make me punish you! I will...uh..bring VERY cheap beer to the party! How do you like that!?! Now get back here and fix this fic. And don't use school or any of that other un-important crap as an excuse! ;)

Kate sighed, knowing she needed Nate’s help to get through to CD. “Nate, what kind of
problems have you two been having?”

Nate groaned. “Oh, she said it was my fault, didn’t she?! I knew it!”

“Nate,” Kate put her hand on his shoulder. “What happened?”

Nate sighed and sat back down at his desk. Kate sat on his desk and waited for his
answer.

“I don’t know what I’ve done to her; she’s so distant towards me and I can’t get
through.”

She nodded. “Okay, that’s normal for certain times for women, maybe....”

Nate shook his head. “No, it’s lasted longer than that, Cap,” he paused and decided to
tell her the full story. “Kate, twelve nights ago, CD called me and canceled a date we had
planned. I asked her if everything was alright, she got really hateful towards me, and said
she was fine; she just didn’t want to go out. I left it at that because I didn’t want to start
anything. She didn’t want to talk about it, and it sounded like she’d been crying, so I
didn’t want her to get upset again; I decided to wait until the next day,” he paused and
thought about the next day. “After that, she started being really hateful to me and started
ignoring my presence; I have no idea what I’ve done to her....”

Kate frowned. “Nate, I know this is a personal question, but I care about her, too, and I
want to make sure she’s okay,” Nate nodded. “Is there ANY way she could be
pregnant?” she asked him. “It sounds like she found out something right before you
called her that night....?”

“But her tubes, Cap? They’re tied, how can she be pregnant?” Nate asked her.

“Stranger things have happened, Nate,” Kate smiled smally at him. “How bout we call
her?”

He nodded and picked up the phone. He dialed her cell, but there was no answer. He
tried her home number, but CD didn’t pick up. He left a quick message. “CD, I’m coming
over; you’re not running from me, so don’t even try. I care about you too much to let you
go; I’ll wait until you come home, and if you don’t, I’ll find you. I will, CD.” He paused
to clear his throat from the big lump that had mounted in the back of it. “I love you,
baby,” he whispered and hung up the phone and turned to Kate. “I’m gonna go get her.”

Kate nodded. “Good luck, Nate,” she replied and gave him a hug. “Call me and tell me
what happens?” she asked him, and he nodded. “You can keep the personal details to
yourself though,” she teased him.

Nate grinned and ran out the door.

“Doesn’t anyone work around here?” Magda complained.

“Shut up, Inspector, and get back to work,” Kate answered as she walked back to her
office to worry about her Inspectors.

SO???????????????????????????? Is CD pregnant???? I want her to be pregnant!!!! And then she could get married to Nate and they could be one big happy family!! lol PLEASE post more Lisa!!!! I must know!!!!

That was great! I am soooo glad that Kate told Nate what was going on, and he's going after the woman he loves! Right on, Nate! I can't wait for more of this amazing fic!

okay, here's one.....

Nate drove wildly to CD’s house and as soon as he got there, he banged on her door.
There was no answer, so he got out his key. He unlocked the door and walked inside.
“CD?” he called out. “CD, where are you, sweetie?”

He looked through the rooms of her house but didn’t find her. He glanced at her
answering machine, and it was blinking. He pressed it and heard his voice; he realized
she hadn’t came home yet. He sat on her couch with his head in his hands while he
waited.

here's the second.......

CD walked aimlessly around the park, not knowing what she was looking for. She had cried for awhile, but that had ceased as she sat on a parkbench and watched the little kids on the swings. Their moms pushed them with caution and with love, and the little
ones giggled and begged to go higher.

CD grinned at their love and happiness and wondered if she’d ever have the same thing in her life. She glanced over at the kids in the sandbox and the ones dancing with hula hoops in the grass.

A wave of sadness hit her, and she decided to move on. She walked back to her car and got in, driving to the closest ice cream drive thru. She stopped and ordered a large peanut butter and hot fudge sundae and parked in the lot to eat it.

A young couple walking hand in hand walked to the Dairy Shack and ordered something. He pulled out his wallet and beat her to the tab.

CD grinned at the niceness of the guy; he reminded her of Nate.

The boy grabbed their huge banana split, and they sat down at a table so he could feed her.

CD came to the conclusion that she didn’t want to see that scene either, so she started her car and drove off with her sundae in hand.

An hour later Nate sat in the same still position as he waited for CD to come home.

She’d pulled in along the curb and got out, oblivious to Nate’s car parked a few in front of hers. She walked briskly to her apartment and got out the key.

Nate could hear the rattling at the door, so he quickly stood and sauntered to the door.

CD opened the door and looked right into Nate’s eyes. “No!” she shouted. “No, go away!” she screamed at him and started to walk back out.

“CD, stop it,” he replied and grabbed her arm.

“Don’t hurt me!” she shouted and began flaring her fists at him.

He grabbed him and wrestled her into the apartment. “Baby, I would NEVER hurt you,” he promised her as she stopped fighting him and collapsed into his arms.

“I.......you......it hurts,” CD sobbed into his chest.

Nate held her tightly and stroked her hair. “CD, tell me about it. What hurts?”

“Everything!” she exclaimed. “My body, my mind, those little kids at the park, that damn teenage couple at the Dairy Shack!” she screamed at him like he knew. “All of that
hurts!”

Nate frowned. “CD, I’m sorry, but I don’t understand.”

“I was robbed of ever having a boyfriend in high school! I had to watch those loving mothers push their kids in the swings, and I hate myself for hurting you!” she shouted angrily at him but fell back into his arms in a fit of tears.

“Shh, baby, it’s alright,” he told her. “We’re going to make everything alright.” he paused and brought her face back out to face his. “Sweetie, I want to ask you a question that I want you to answer but not be angry with me; can you try to do that please?”

She nodded silently.

Nate drew in a quick breath. “CD.....honey.........are you pregnant?”

“Nate, that wasn’t your fault,” CD explained. “I have problems, that’s all; I’m sorry I worried you.”

“WHAT problems, CD? I want to help you.”

She sighed. “You can’t help me, Nate. No one can; I can’t even help myself anymore. I can’t even PROTECT myself anymore,” she muttered as she walked to the kitchen.

“Protect yourself from what, CD?”

CD grunted. “From getting hurt again, what else? That’s all my life consists of-- hurt, pain, and agony. Something good happens in my life, and something 10 times worse has
to be correspond with it. I should’ve known when I fell in love with you that something was going to go wrong. I should’ve felt it, but stupid me, I thought my life was changing.”

“CD, your life HAS changed. Whatever happened to you is fixable, I’m sure.”

CD laughed evilly. “Yeah, it’s nothing that a good shower, a shot of tequila and a ****ing therapist can’t fix,” she retorted and drank a glass of iced tea. “Again,” she muttered.

“Again? What?” Nate questioned as he followed her into the living room.

CD rolled her eyes. “You know that little count you were keeping of the last time we had sex?” she asked him with an angry sneer in her voice.

“CD, I was NOT keeping score of the last time we had sex; I had a count of the days that you wouldn’t let me come over and stay with you. Sure, I missed the sex, but I missed you a helluva lot more than that!”

“Oh,” she replied sheepishly. “Well, anyway, like you kept count of that, I, too, was keeping count. I had the same number as you; I counted from the night I called off our date,” she told him, almost in a whisper.

“What did your number represent?” he asked her nervously.

She gave him a lopsided smile right before the tears started to come out. “Eleven days ago, I was coming out of the Division, heading home to get ready for you, and it was really dark outside,” she shuddered, remembering every filthy detail. “I walked quickly to my car, but I couldn’t see it very well because I didn’t park under a light,” she paused and wiped a tear from her eye. “I always park under a light,” she told him.

Nate urged her to continue. “What happened?”

She grimaced. “This man.......I knew I’ve seen him before......came up to me and asked me what I was doing outside all by myself on such a dark night. I smiled and said that it looked like I was misplacing my car. He laughed and helped me find it, and then he nicely walked me to it.” she paused at the scary segment to come. “I got in, but so did he, on the passenger’s side. I asked him what he was doing, and he told me that he was doing what
we both wanted. I was confused......I screamed but he had his hand over my mouth. I honked the horn briefly, but no one heard me,” she stopped and put her head in her hands.

He grabbed my left wrist and bent it back behind me, and he used my right arm to drag my body to the back of my car.......I cleaned it so good the next day,” she added but continued to go with her story. “The next thing I knew, his heavy body was on top of mine; I couldn’t move. Everything I’d learned from boxing was gone; I couldn’t think straight. I tried to wrestle myself away
from him, but he banged my head against the side of the car.”

“The black eye?” Nate asked her curiously.

CD nodded. “He wouldn’t let me go until he was finished............Nate, he raped me...” she confided him in an undertone. She started crying again, eventually then collapsed,
and even though she didn’t want anyone to touch her, that wall also collapsed, and she climbed into his protective arms.

Nate held on to her and cried alongside her. He couldn’t believe he’d let her get hurt again; he was supposed to be there for her, and look what he had done. He angrily cursed the man in his head and asked her softly, “CD, who was it?”

CD sniffled and held onto him, not looking up. “It was......it was Johnny.”

“What?!” Nate exclaimed. “Raina’s Johnny?!” he spat out.

CD nodded. “I didn’t want to say anything, Nate. Since Raina broke up with him that night right before he saw me, I didn’t want her to feel like it was her fault because he was originally there for her; I was just his.....sideshow,” she angrily admitted as she broke away from him. Her tears had finally dried and little hiccups took over. “I’m sorry I’m such a basketcase,” she replied, trying to smile.

“CD, nonsense, you don’t have to try and be funny with me. I know you’re hurting; have you talked to a therapist yet?”

She nodded. “Yeah, I have. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you about her or what happened, but I didn’t want you to know. Then I didn’t want you to be around me; what if I had contracted something from him? I.....I didn’t go to the doctor,” she told him.

“CD!” he exclaimed. “Why not?! That bastard needs to be behind bars and you need to make sure you’re alright!”

“I didn’t want to go alone!” she angrily shouted. “And you didn’t need to know!” she paused and sighed. “Or so I thought,” she replied. “Nate, I can’t believe this happened to me. AGAIN, Candace DeLorenzo becomes a victim. That’s what her epitaph will say-- Candace DeLorenzo-- A Victim of This Pitiful World.”

“CD, stop it,” Nate pleaded. “This was NOT your fault; the first one was NOT your fault. You’re a survivor, CD, can’t you see that?”

“Yeah, I’ve survived so now I can look forward to the next pit of Hell I’ll discover,” she mumbled sarcastically.

“Or you’ve survived to whatever YOU want,” Nate explained. “Talking about those kids in the park? Let’s have kids, CD; why the hell not? That couple with the ice cream? Fine,
let’s you and I go make out in public, so you can have the childhood you deserve,” he grinned. “I’m here, CD. We can do anything you want to do; we can make your life better; OUR lives will be better, honey.”

“But what if....”

“NO what ifs, CD, those get us nowhere,” he told her. “Baby, next time I need you to come to me, not shut me away. I’m sorry I wasn’t there that night, to protect you from him.”

She nodded. “I know, that’s why I didn’t tell you; I figured you would blame yourself.”

“Well, I do, but that’s not the point,” he said. “The point is we make you better again. First off, we need to go see a doctor; secondly, we schedule another therapy session, and
I’ll go with you. Finally, I’ll ask Kate to come stay with you, so I can hunt that bastard Johnny down and kill him......”

“Nate, I don’t want you on this case,” CD replied. “You’re too emotionally involved, and the evidence is off of me. I’ve washed away everything he left on me and on the car. I didn’t want any memory of it. I just want to put it behind me.”

“CD...”

“Nate, don’t argue with me, or you’ll be back outside.”

Nate sighed. “Fine, but will you go to a doctor?”

She groaned. “Yes, I’ll go to the doctor,” she replied. “And I’ve made another appointment with my therapist already, and no thank you, I’d rather go alone.”

He nodded. “I completely understand.”

She climbed back into his arms. “I’m sorry I shoved you away, Nate. I didn’t realize how
badly I needed you.”

“It’s okay, sweetie, I’m here now.”

She nodded. “I know,” she paused and looked at him. “Nate, will you stay here tonight?”

“Of course I will.”

“We’re just sleeping, I assure you,” she warned him.

He nodded. “CD, I wasn’t thinking anything else. Yes, I will SLEEP here tonight, and that’s all.”

She grinned slowly. “Thank you, Nate,” she replied and stood up. “I’m really hungry; I’m gonna order in before I go to bed; does that sound alright?”

He nodded and watched her go off to the dining room to call in a pizza. He sat there dumbfounded, not realizing until just then what she had told him. He knew he would never fully understand what she was going through, but he knew he had to be 100%
understanding to her. He couldn’t imagine being put through such a brutal thing, let alone twice. She was still alive to speak of it, though. That was what was important. He needed her to stick around, and she needed him more than she cared to admit.

She walked back in and smiled gently. “Pizza will be here in about 30 minutes; ya wanna watch a movie?”

He grinned. “I’d love to. A comedy?” he suggested.

She nodded. “Sounds appropriate,” she laughed a little and held up a DVD. “Liar Liar?”

“Definitely!” he told her as she put it in.

They both sat on the couch together; CD rested her head on Nate’s leg, but she wouldn’t let him put his arm on her. It was too soon for her to get too close to him.

The pizza got there twenty minutes later, but by then, CD had already passed out on the couch. Nate smiled, stood up and went to pay the pizza guy. He came back into the living
room, where CD had started to shiver a little from his body heat being gone. He took the pizza to the kitchen and put it in the refrigerator; they could always eat it tomorrow. He went back to the living room and gently picked CD up into his arms. He tucked her closely to his chest and carried her lightly to her bed. Nate tucked her in and kissed her forehead. He didn’t know if it was appropriate for him to be in the bed with her, so he pulled out a pair of his jogging pants from one of her drawers, slipped them on and slept on top of the covers. He slid an arm over CD’s body, but that instantly woke her up.

“Who’s there?” she asked as she sat up. “What do you want?”

“CD, it’s me, sweetie. I’m sorry I woke you,” Nate replied nervously.

CD sighed and giggled nervously. “Oh, Nate,” she grinned sheepishly. “I’m sorry, I thought you were....you were someone else.”

He nodded. “It’s okay; do you want me to stay here or sleep in the other room?”

“Definitely stay with me,” she answered immediately and moved the covers on his side down. “Get in here,” she commanded.

Nate nodded and climbed under the sheets. He tried to kiss her goodnight, but she shied away.

“Nate, please,” she begged.

Nate frowned. “Sweetie, I’m sorry, I wasn’t thinking.”

She nodded. “It’s okay, just please don’t kiss me right now.”

He totally understood. “Can I tell you I love you?”

She smiled. “You can tell me that whenever you want, Nate,” she replied as she shied to her side of the bed. “And I love you, too.”

He grinned and watched his lover and best friend relax into a deep sleep before he could finally drift off restlessly.

The next day as Nate was driving CD and himself to work, CD was griping to him.

“Nate, don’t you dare say a word to anyone about this; do you understand me?”

Nate sighed for the fifth time already that morning. “CD, I don’t understand; shouldn’t you at least tell the Cap? I mean, she seems like an important person to tell!” he
exclaimed.

She shook her head. “No, Nate, for the last time, I’m not telling anybody.”

Nate nodded. “Fine, I’m not going against your wishes, but I can’t say I agree with you.”

She shrugged. “Okay, as long as you don’t tell,” she replied as they silently rode the rest of the way to work.

CD and Nate both took their lunch breaks at the same time, so they could go to the doctor. CD ended up having Nate sit outside during the exam, as she lied on an uncomfortable table while a friendly doctor prodded around inside her.

Nate had explained to the receptionist what had occured, so it was in her file when the doctor asked, “Miss DeLorenzo, this must be a horrible ordeal for you; how are you handling it, all things considered?”

CD rolled her eyes. “Doc, you don’t have to give me the sentimental, ‘I’m so sorry,’ bull**** because it’s happened before, alright? Just examine me, and tell me I can go.”

The doctor, surprised that the victim had been through this already. “Did you not report anything? I see you’re a cop?”

“Yes, I am, and no, I didn’t,” CD huffily announced. “No more evidence, Doc, so I’m letting the subject of it drop.”

The doctor ran some blood work and performed her regular yearly exam. “A therapist then? Have you seen....”

“Yes, I’ve seen a freaking therapist, and yes I’m going back! Anymore questions?!” she smarted off.

“No, no more questions, CD,” she replied as she left the room briefly to run the tests through quickly. Waiting for a response from them, she went back into CD’s room, just to small talk with her, knowing how hurt she was.

CD was in there, thinking she was by herself, and crying softly.

“CD,” the doctor soothingly replied.

CD looked up quickly and brushed away her tears. “I’m sorry,” she admitted. “I’m so sorry for biting your head off, and,” she stopped to blow her nose on a tissue. “now I’m sorry for acting like this.”

The doctor grinned. “CD, you don’t have to apologize to me; you don’t have to apologize for anything or to anyone.”

CD weakly nodded. “Okay,” she replied and looked at her watch. “So am I free to go?”

“Um, no, let me go see if your test results are done, and I’ll bring them back to you,” she said as she walked out the door and to the lab.

Five minutes later she came back in. “CD, everything looks normal; you’re free to go now,” she paused as she handed her her clothes. “And if you need anything...”

“I know, thanks,” CD cut her off and reached for her clothes.

The doctor nodded and left her, so CD could change in private.

After she was done, CD paid her bill and led Nate outside.

“So?” Nate asked.

“So I’m fine,” CD replied as they walked to the car. “No big deal.”

“No big deal, my ass, CD!”

CD shrugged. “Nate, it’s over; it doesn’t matter anymore, and I don’t want to talk about it.”

Nate sighed. “Fine, I won’t pressure you to anymore.”

“Good, that sounds lovely,” CD responded sarcastically as she drove them back to work.

When CD and Nate walked back through the doors and onto their floor, Raina was beaming and ran up to them as soon as they entered. “Guys, LOOK!” she exclaimed as she held up two dozen roses.

“Those are beautiful, Raina, who sent them to you?” Nate asked her.

“Johnny did!” she happily announced and pointed at her desk. “And these tea cups that I collect, and some chocolate; he even through in an IOU ticket for dinner and dancing wherever I want!”

“I think I’m going to be sick,” CD mumbled and walked quickly to the bathroom.

“What’s wrong with her?” Raina asked Nate.

Nate shrugged. “Probably something she had for lunch,” he suggested and then commented, “Raina, I thought the two of you broke up?”

She grinned. “Well, we did, but he’s been so nice to me after that happened, so I decided to give him another chance.”

“But why?! He’s an obvious loser who needs a good ass-kickin!” Nate exclaimed.

“Um, no he’s not, and no he doesn’t!”

Nate sighed. “Fine, good luck with him, Raina. Don’t be caught with him alone,” he warned her as he walked to the women’s bathroom, where the door almost hit him in the face.

“I’m fine now,” CD muttered and walked back to her desk.

Nate sighed and followed her, sitting on the side of her desk. “You have to tell her, CD. What if he does the same thing to her? You’d never forgive yourself.”

CD shrugged. “He’s not going to, Nate.”

“CD, stop acting like this; you know you have to do it, so why wait?”

CD sighed. “Nate, let’s work on our paperwork,” she suggested.

“If you don’t tell her, I’ll make up a woman and tell her about her.”

“Nate, shut up!” CD hissed. “Fine, I’ll tell her after work, alright?! And if that’s not good enough for you.....”

“Thank you,” he stopped her and picked up a file. “I’ll work now.”

“You better,” she muttered and worked on files for the rest of the afternoon, until Raina was signing out three hours later.

“NO!” CD screamed. “I mean, no, but I found out what a bastard he is, Raina.”

“What, why?” Raina asked, confused.

CD sighed and hummed around.

“CD, tell me!”

“He saw me here the night you two broke up....in the parking lot,” CD mumbled.

“And what happened??” Raina prodded.

“I couldn’t find my car, and he helped me find it,” CD paused. “And then he helped me into it.”

“And that makes him a bad person why?” Raina asked, obviously annoyed.

“Raina, he also helped me out of my clothes and into my backseat,” CD muttered.

“You screwed my BOYFRIEND, CD?!” Raina shouted just as Mag, Jin, and Kate were walking out of the building for the night. All three women’s mouths dropped.

“No! Raina, please lower your voice,” CD pleaded.

“Like hell I will, CD! You stupid bitch, I thought you were my friend!”

“I AM, that’s why I’m telling you!” CD exclaimed. “And I didn’t have sex with him, Raina.”

“Oh, so you just fooled around in your backseat?! That’s alright then, no big deal!” Raina smarted off.

Jinny and Mag obviously looked on, while Kate pretended to drop her keys.

CD lowered her voice to an almost whisper. “Raina, I didn’t have sex with him; he had sex with me,” she paused. “He raped me.”

Raina called after her, “Whatever, CD! He would never do that to anyone! You’re just jealous of my relationship!”

CD smiled sadly. “Yeah, Raina, that’s it,” she replied and drove to her apartment to eat dinner with Nate.

Kate stared dumbfoundedly at the speeding car passing by her. She couldn’t comprehend that Candace DeLorenzo had been raped.

“Can you believe her?!” Raina exclaimed and laughed. “To lie about Johnny like that!”

Jinny frowned. “Raina, why would CD lie about that? You’ve known her longer than you’ve known this Johnny! What if she’s telling the truth?”

Raina rolled her eyes. “Yeah right!”

“Raina, I’ve known CD DeLorenzo for a LOT longer than you have. If she said that’s what happened, that’s what happened,” Kate told her.

Raina shrugged. “Believe whoever you want, Cap, I’m sticking with Johnny,” she replied as she walked to her car and drove off without another word to go meet him.

“I just can’t believe it,” Magda commented.

Jinny nodded. “Yeah, I hadn’t even realized CD was having problems! Some friend I am.”

“We can’t blame ourselves, Jin, as much as we’d like to,” Kate told her. “We’ve just got to be there for her now, but we can’t overwhelm her. If she tells us to back off, then we gotta do just that.”

Magda and Jin nodded silently.

Kate sighed. “Well, let’s get out of here,” she told them as she got into her car. “Until tomorrow, Inspectors.”

CD banged on the door of her apartment, her hands full of groceries.

Nate ran to the door answered it. “Baby, you should’ve told me you wanted groceries; I would’ve picked them up.”

She shrugged. “No big deal; I can still get my own stuff, Nate.”

He nodded but grabbed a couple of the bags.

CD sighed. “Thank you,” she admitted as they walked to the kitchen together and unloaded.

Nate didn’t want to push, so he didn’t mention Raina. He grabbed out the fettucine noodles she’d bought. “We having these for dinner?”

“Yeah, unless you don’t want to,” she grumbled.

“No, they’re fine; I was just asking.”

“Whatever,” she mumbled and got out a pot to boil water for the noodles.

Nate sighed and finished putting up the groceries. “You want me to do anything? Toss some salad together or something?”

She shook her head. “No, I’ve got it from here,” she stopped and got out some dishes. “Here, go set the table, pour the drinks, and then you can go watch TV or something.”

He nodded and obeyed her commands.

“Man, you’re a bitch,” CD muttered to herself as she threw some cheese garlic bread onto the broiler. She finished cooking everything about 20 minutes later and set it on the
table. She decided to take the high road, stop arguing with Nate, and lit a couple of candles before walking into the living area.

Nate had his head propped lazily on his hand as he watched March Madness unappreciatively.

She laid a friendly hand on his shoulder. “Dinner’s ready.”

He flinched at her voice. “Oh, alright; it smells great!” he encouraged.

She smiled. “Looks good, too,” she added.

Nate noticed her smile and put his arm lazily around her shoulder.

CD grinned nervously and led him to the table.

They sat across from each other and filled their plates. Silence surrounded them for a couple of minutes; however, it wasn’t uncomfortable.

Finally CD spoke up. “I talked to Raina,” she said quietly.

Nate looked up and saw the pain in her eyes. “What happened?” he asked her nervously.

She snorted. “She didn’t believe me, called me a lying bitch, and Jin, Mag, AND Cap heard about it, too.”

“Oh my gosh, CD, that’s awful,” Nate consoled.

CD nodded. “Yeah, at first I was feeling bad for myself; now, though, I’m feeling sorry for Raina. I hope she’s alright.”

Nate agreed. “I hope she is, too, CD. I hope she is, too.”

Raina went and met Johnny that night. He acted sweeter than he’d ever acted towards her, which she found a little suspicious but also heartwarming. She never mentioned the
conversation her and CD had had, he never hinted at seeing CD in the parking lot, and he didn’t even flinch when he put her in his car and drove her home for the evening.

Raina hopped into bed that night, wondering why CD would ever lie to her.

Nate and CD were in bed together later that night.

“Goodnight, CD. I’m sorry you’ve had another bad day; I love you very much,” he replied to her.

CD grinned. “I love you too, Nate. More than anything,” she admitted to him and kissed him gently on the cheek before wriggling under the covers on her side of the bed.

Nate grinned. “Thank you, CD.”

She nodded. “It’s the truth,” she replied and looked over at him. He was smiling with ease toward her. CD grinned, knowing he would never hurt her and wriggled her body back to his side of the bed, snuggling in close to him.

Nate, surprised by her sudden affection, held her tightly and kissed her hair softly.

“Night,” she whispered as she leaned her head down on his hand.

“Night,” he murmured.

The fact that Raina belvied Johnny over CD even though not hearing Johnny side of the story was nicely done as well. It's sad, but it happens. Women would rather trust the bastard men in their lives then the women who have been their friends, and co wokers of longer. The strong llove that Nate has for CD shows in the sweet way he takes care of her, and not wanting to hurt her or to puch to hard. Even though it was so heart renching that CD wouldn't even let Nate touch her at first, felt so right..well not right in a good way, but right in a way that a women would fell after being raped. The next morning when CD walked in, Magda, Jin, and even Kate dropped what they
were doing to look up at her. They wanted desperately for her to talk to them.

CD saw the stares and grinned. “Good morning, everyone,” she replied as she took off her coat.

“Morning, CD,” they all mumbled back.

“How was your night, CD?” Jin asked.

CD smiled and pointed at her and Mag. “Okay, you two, Cap’s office. Now.”

Jin and Mag practically ran over each other trying to get through Kate’s door.

“Ladies, CAREFUL!” Kate exclaimed as she moved from her door opening.

Mag and Jin took the seats, Kate sat behind her desk, and CD stood after shutting the door.

She sighed. “I’m sorry you had to hear that conversation last night. I purposely made sure we were in the parking lot before I brought it up because I didn’t want you three to know,” CD confided. “I didn’t want you all to form opinions about me and think that I still can’t hack it out on the streets.”

“CD! We would NEVER think that!” Jinny exclaimed. “You’re the best we’ve got! You can always handle yourself; we wouldn’t have worried about your work. Frankly, I’m just worried about YOU!”

Magda nodded in agreement.

CD smiled. “Thanks, and seriously, I’m fine,” she sighed and decided to give them a condensed version. “One night when I worked late and Nate left to get ready for a date that night..”

“With you?” Magda asked hopefully, not knowing if she was going to come clean about their relationship.

“Of course with me!” CD blushed. “I mean, it wasn’t a date DATE, persay.....”

Jin and Kate laughed.

“CD, you’re secret’s safe with us,” Kate winked at her. “Continue with what happened.”

CD nodded. “Okay, so I was walking to my car, but I couldn’t find it. Johnny was out there because him and Raina had just broken up, and we talked for a few minutes, while he helped me locate it,” she frowned. “But then he got in with me, and the next thing I
knew, I was on my back and not going anywhere, no matter how hard I tried.”

The three other women looked on intently and in disgust as CD continued.

“He raped me quickly, kissed me on the cheek, and told me I was amazing. Then he left, I called and canceled with Nate, the next morning I used extra cover up on the black eye he so nicely gave me, and became a bitch to everyone.” she sighed. “Then I broke up with Nate, and the same day starting dating him again,” she grinned as the others laughed.

“Have you seen anybody?” Jinny asked.

CD nodded. “Yeah, I’m in therapy again, and Nate took me to see doctor.”

“Therapy AGAIN?” Magda raised her eyebrows.

“Dammit,” CD muttered under her breath. She’d slipped, but since she was coming clean, she decided to come clean with everything. “Um, yeah, I’ve been in thereapy before,” she paused. “I’ve been raped before this,” she practically whispered.

They left, and CD turned to Kate.

“Will you stay in here for another minute?” Kate asked CD.

CD nodded. “Of course I will, Cap. You were pretty quiet while I was talking,” she commented.

Kate agreed. “I had no idea what to say, and I was kicking myself for not looking out for you, CD. I feel like I’ve failed you,” she admitted quietly.

CD grinned. “Kate, you could never fail me! You DO look out for me, and what happened that night, you could NOT have prevented!”

Kate shrugged. “I don’t know, CD, maybe I could’ve,” she stopped and thought back to almost two weeks ago. “Wait, that day you came here looking to transfer....?”

“Was the day after,” CD finished for her. “I didn’t think I could handle being here, being outside in that same parking lot............I didn’t want Nate around me either. I was so in love with him that I couldn’t let him see me fail. Does that make sense?”

Kate smiled. “Of course it makes sense, CD,” she told her and stopped. “Candace, you know how much you mean to me, right?”

CD grinned and nodded. “Sure I do, and I think that’s the first time I’ve ever heard you use my full name.”

Kate grinned. “I thought it was appropriate.”

CD laughed. “It was, don’t worry, I liked it,” she paused. “Would it be alright if you hugged me now?”

Kate stood up with a prideful beam. “CD, I haven’t hugged you nearly as often as I should’ve in my years.” she hugged her. “You’ve always been a daughter to me, and I’ve never shown enough affection to you,” she paused and kissed her cheek. “I love you, kiddo.”

CD grinned full of adoration for the maternal side of her captain that she was experiencing. “I love you, too, Cap,” she hugged back even tighter. “I mean Kate,” she replied and giggled.

Kate laughed and let go of her, her eyes filled with tears. “Get outta here, and solve some cases.”

CD nodded. “Sure, how many you want solved today?”

“All of them on the West Coast?” Kate suggested.

CD saluted her. “Yes, ma’am, I’m on it.”

Kate laughed and watched her walk out the door. Nate was observing from his desk and had watched CD and Kate hug. He’d grinned, and now was wondering why CD was almost ecstatic when she came to her desk.

Nate grinned at her quizzically. “Everything alright?”

CD smiled and kissed him roughly on the lips. “Couldn’t be better!” she exclaimed and took her seat.

Nate’s eyebrows went up, not believing that she’d actually kissed him with a little passion again, and in public for that matter.

“What’s that look for?” she asked him devilishly.

He shrugged. “I don’t know, just not used to THAT.”

She smiled. “Well, GET used to it because there’s a lot more where that came from,” she promised him and got back to her paperwork.

Nate beamed with confidence and went back to his work as well.

That night CD had Nate over for a late night pizza and movie.

“I can’t believe you roped me into seeing this chick flick,” Nate muttered as he laid his head on his propped up arm boredly. “Is it almost over?”

CD laughed. “No Nate, it just started!” she replied as she looked at “Sweet Home Alabama’s” cover, which made her laugh even more. “I’m sorry, it’s got an hour and ten minutes left.”

He groaned. “Pleeeeeease tell me you’re joking!”

She giggled and shook her head. “I’m telling you the truth, honey,” she replied as she stretched her legs onto him from the other end of the couch. “Can you take off my shoes?” she asked him slyly.

Nate smirked. “I can take off more than that if you give me a chance.......”

CD frowned. “Nate...” she warned.

He smiled. “I’m just kidding, sweetie; sure, I’ll take your shoes off for you.” He slipped off her shoes and gently massaged her feet.

She groaned. “Oh, that feels so good; we’ve been putting in too much time lately.”

Nate grinned. “We sure have; how about we only work 8 hours tomorrow, no overtime?”

She nodded. “That sounds great to me; you still going to come over though?”

“CD, I’d be over here even if I wasn’t invited.”

She smiled warmly. “Thanks,” she simply stated and moved her feet back to the ground.

“What, was I doing a terrible job?” he teased her.

CD laughed. “No, my back and shoulders were jealous,” she replied and laid her top half in his lap. “Do you mind?”

“I’d never mind,” he answered and massaged her shoulders gently.

She rolled her neck back and forth, her eyes closed and fully absorbed in his touch. “Mmmm,” she murmured as she drug her body closer to him.

Nate massaged a little harder and kissed on her neck a little.

“Naaaaaaaate, no,” she whispered but stayed in his arms, desperately seeking him.

“Baby, it’s alright; it’s me, remember? I’m never going to hurt you,” he promised as he continued kissing and nibbling.

She turned to face in and immediately captured his mouth with hers.

Nate flinched at her sudden tongue in his mouth but never skipped a beat-- he battled her right back as he clawed at her shirt.

CD attacked his shirt off as well, and before they knew it, they were wrestling around on the ground with nothing but their undergarments on.

Nate reached for her bra strap in a hurry and laid on top of her.

CD panicked, throwing him off of her. “Stop!” she screamed, immediately fighting back tears and shaking her head. “No, no, we’re not doing this,” she muttered as she grabbed her clothes up and stood up.

Nate silently cursed himself. “CD, sweetie, I’m so sorry, I.....”

CD’s tears surfaced, and she started shaking. “No, YOU did nothing wrong; I just don’t want to, that’s all.”

Nate reached out for her. “CD...”

“Don’t touch me!” she shouted but felt awful as soon as the words grazed her lips.

Nate nodded. “Alright, I’m sorry, I won’t touch you.”

CD shook as she held her clothes in front of her chest. “I’m so sorry, Nate,” she paused, not knowing how she could ever truly be fair to him-- or even honest-- to him ever again. She sighed. “I’m, uh, going to go to bed now. You’re welcome to sleep.....on the couch if you want to.”

Nate shook his head. “No thanks, I should be going home. I have a lot of things to do there,” he lied, not knowing what to say. He was being shoved away from her, and now not even allowed to sleep in the same bed with her; he knew she was hurting, so all of his hurt remained bottled up.

“Nate, I’m.....I’m.....I don’t know what to say except keep repeating I’m sorry over and over again,” she sighed.

“CD, there’s nothing to explain to me; I understand,” Nate again fibbed to her.

CD shook even more, tears poured out. “Nate, will you PLEASE sleep on the couch?” she pleaded. “I don’t want to be here alone,” she admitted before rushing over to him, so he could put his arms around her.

“Aw, baby,” he replied as he grabbed on to her. “Of course I’ll stay here, if that’s what you want.”

She nodded. “That’s what I want, Nate; and maybe you can stay in my room tomorrow?” she tried to offer a compromise.

He grinned. “That sounds good, sweetie,” he said as he kissed her forehead. “Go get some sleep; I’m out here if you need me,” he reassured her.

She smiled softly. “Thank you,” she murmured as she walked to her bedroom door and waved over her shoulder. “Sweet dreams.”

“Only about you,” he replied, grinning.

She turned around and beamed. “Right back at ya,” she answered back before going into her room alone.

CD tossed and turned for hours that night. After finally drifting off, she started having a nightmare. Her and Nate were making love-- he was being so gentle to her-- but then he got on top of her. His face turned into Johnny’s, and the sex turned violent.

Nate could hear her screams protruding through the walls of her bedroom, and he ran as fast as he could in there. He shook her as soon as he touched her; her body was trembling, and she was fighting the covers. “Baby, wake up,” he whispered to her.

CD woke up a little but not enough to realize that she was dreaming. “GET AWAY FROM ME!” she shouted and started hurling punches at him.

She successfully connected right in his left eye socket. “Oh ****!” he muttered as he let go of her; his hands grabbing his face.

CD woke up to his voice and saw the pain written all over his face. She realized what she’d done. “Nate! Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry, I didn’t...”

He stopped her. “CD, it’s alright; you were having a nightmare.”

She looked down at herself; she was only wearing her bra and a pair of shorts. “Umm, I don’t know why I took all of my clothes off,” she tried to joke. “I guess I started out dreaming of you.”

“I can accept that,” he beamed.

She frowned. “And then you turned into Johnny and.....” she started to cry, remembering.

“CD, don’t,” he whispered and put his arms around her. “Forget about it...”

She held onto him. “You’re right,” she admitted as she broke loose.

He handed her her shirt.

“Thank you,” she replied and slid it over her head. She looked around at her bed and the thought of having to go back in it. “Nate,” she started. “Will you....will you.....can we?”

“You want me to sleep in here tonight?” he asked her.

“No,” she shook her head. “Can we sleep out in the living room?”

He nodded. “Anything you want.”

CD grabbed his hand, and they walked out to the couch. She had Nate lie down first, and then she tightly took her spot above him.

“Night,” she whispered.

“Night, baby.”

“Wake up, sleepyhead!” Kate exclaimed as she ruffled up Jinny’s hair.

“What the hell?” she muttered as she woke up. “Why did you disturb me?”

Kate grinned. “It’s called a stakeout, not a
‘Oh-I’ll-let-my-captain-do-it-herself-while-I-sleep-my-ass-off-out!”

Jinny rolled her eyes. “You are SO weird, Cap.”

Kate shrugged. “Must be something in the donuts,” she replied as she grabbed the last cake one.

On another side of town, Raina and Johnny were walking to his car after dinner and a romantic movie.

He’d never taken her to a romantic movie before, she thought to himself. CD’s words had crossed her mind about a million times since they’d been said. She finally turned to him. “Johnny, did you talk to anyone that night we broke up? I mean, right after you left the inside of the Division?”

“What?” Johnny asked. “What are you talking about?”

“Did you talk to anyone in the parking lot that night?”

Johnny pondered for a second. “Hmmm, not that I remember.....WAIT!” he stopped. “Yeah, CD and I talked for awhile, why?”

“Then what happened?” Raina questioned him.

He shrugged. “Why did she talk to you about it?” he asked nonchalantly.

“She mentioned it,” Raina admitted. “What happened?”

Johnny sighed. “Raina, I didn’t want to tell you; it was just a fling because I missed you.....”

“You RAPED her and then call it a fling?!” Raina shouted.

Johnny acted surprised. “I WHAT?!” he exclaimed. “No, I didn’t RAPE her!” he hissed as he hurriedly shoved her in the passenger seat and ran to his side of the car. He quickly got in. “She SAID that?!”

Raina nodded. “Yeah, and it was pretty convincing, Johnny.....”

“But it’s not true!” he shouted. “We.......we had sex, Raina. I’m so sorry; she was just THERE, and I felt like crap, so we.......we had sex in her car, Raina. Then we went to her house.....” he paused.

“And?”

“And we had sex again,” he told her. “Then I lied and told her she was great, but I didn’t think we should see each other again.” he rolled his eyes. “She got really pissed, Raina. She was looking for a relationship because that Nate just wasn’t doing it for her.”

“Nate and CD seem pretty tight, Johnny,” she commented.

“Yeah, workwise and friendwise, but in-the-bed-wise, Nate just can’t cut it for her,” he shrugged. “So she was looking for something, and I needed some comfort, so it happened.....”

“But CD???”

“Wanted it, Raina. She lied to you because she was pissed at me,” he replied and kissed her gently on the lips. “I’m sorry she made you worry, baby.”

Raina nodded. “I’m sorry, too,” she answered and kissed him back before buckling in for the ride home.

Arrrgh! Raina! :mad: Don't believe that RAPIST!!!!! :mad: Yeah, SURE, Nate wasn't doing it for CD.....:rolleyes: THAT'S believable, Johnny!

The next morning Nate was filing papers while CD had left to get them donuts from the corner vendor.

Raina walked in and straight to Nate. “Nate, what did CD tell you about that night between her and Johnny?” she asked him.

Nate looked at her angrily. “She told me the TRUTH, Raina, unlike what your boyfriend told you.”

Raina rolled her eyes. “It doesn’t make sense, Nate; what she said. They had sex twice that night-- once in her car and once at her house. Why would she let Johnny ‘rape’ her and then let him go back to her house?”

“He didn’t go to her house!” Nate defended his girlfriend.

“How do you know? Were you there?” she defended HER significant other.

“Well, no, I wasn’t there, but she told me!”

“Then how do you know she wasn’t just making it up?” Raina sneered. “How good were you in bed to her before this happened?” she condemned him.

“EXCUSE ME?!” Nate shouted. “What the **** are you saying?! Are you blaming ME because of that ***** boyfriend of yours?!”

“It’s not Johnny’s fault that he was vulnerable and CD seduced him!”

“CD did NOT seduce him!” he screamed.

“Unless screaming ‘NO’ turns the guy on, then no, I didn’t seduce him,” a voice from behind them announced.

Raina flew around and was face to face with CD. “Hey, CD, we were just discussing.....”

CD nodded. “Yeah, I heard,” she replied as she walked to her desk.

“CD....” Nate walked after her.

CD put her hand up and smiled. “It’s fine, Nate. Let her believe whatever she wants; only Johnny and I know what really happened.”

Raina sighed and went back to her desk.

Nate sat at his desk and stared intently at CD.

Finally after a couple of minutes, CD looked up and grinned. “Can I help you over there?”

Nate blushed. “Sorry, I was just.....”

“I know, I know, you couldn’t keep your eyes off of these beautiful piece of work,” she grinned.

Nate chuckled. “That’s EXACTLY what I’m thinking,” he replied. “Actually, I feel like I need to apologize.......”

“Why, for sticking up for me?” she asked. “I heard almost everything you said, and I have to admit that I was glad I walked in...........I feel a lot better now. I feel like I can trust the male species again....or at least you,” she grinned.

Nate smiled. “I’m the only guy you need to be trusting anyway.”

CD laughed and shook her head. “You’re crazy,” she replied and went back to paperwork.

Nate smiled and stood up, going to go pour them a couple of cups of coffee. He busily fixed CD’s coffee and heard a voice he never wanted to hear again.

“Hey Raina!” Johnny’s voice exclaimed as he walked through the doors and kissed her.

Nate looked up to the one person that could make his blood bubble, just from seeing him from afar. Before he could comprehend what he was doing, Nate ran at Johnny as fast as
could, and immediately threw him on the ground. His swings were rough, right onto Johnny’s face and midsection. He held his legs down, so he wasn’t going anywhere.

“You ****ing bastard!” Nate screamed as he didn’t let up.

“Nate, what the hell are you doing?!” Raina shouted as she tried to grab him off of Johnny.

Nate’s adrenaline was far too powerful for her, and he ignored her pleas as he continued to swing.

“Get off of me, man! Just because your bitch is a slut when you’re away, doesn’t make me the one to blame!” he shouted as he kicked Nate in the groin.

CD ran over to them both, while Kate hustled out of her office.

“Nate, stop,” CD begged. “He’s not worth it.”

“Like hell he’s not!” Nate responded as him and Johnny continued to roll around on the ground.

“INSPECTOR BASSO, GET OFF OF HIM RIGHT NOW!” Kate shouted.

Still, Nate couldn’t hear anything except for his subconscious yelling inside.

CD glanced at Jinny, and both ran to each side of Nate’s and grabbed him off of Johnny.

“That’s ****in police brutality!” Johnny shouted as he wiped the blood from his chin. “I’m suing your ****ing ass, you bastard!”

“And I’ll KILL your ****in ass if you ever, EVER, put a hand on her again!” Nate shouted as CD and Jin continued to restrain him.

“Basso, my office,” Kate commented.

Nate cursed, but obeyed, and went to the her office.

She looked at Johnny. “And YOU,” she seethed. “You’re not welcome in this Division again, do you understand me?”

“Excuse me?!” Both Raina and Johnny shouted.

“You heard me,” Kate answered. “Don’t come back; you’ll only stir up more trouble.”

Johnny rolled his eyes and looked at CD. “This is all of YOUR fault, you nasty whore,” he muttered as he kissed Raina on the cheek and left.

Raina watched him and leave and turned to Kate. “Cap, what the HELL was that?! You had no right!”

“I had EVERY right, Raina. That man obviously did something wrong, and even though you don’t believe it, I DO. He’s not to come back here.”

Raina walked away, mumbling under her breath as she walked to the bathroom.

Kate turned to CD. “Are you alright?”

CD nodded. “I’m fine, Cap. Nate was just looking out for me; please don’t punish him too badly. Give ME the punishment.”

“Don’t worry about Nate, CD,” Kate answered. “Go wait in the first interrogation room; I’ll send Nate there when I’m done with him.”

CD nodded nervously and walked to the room to wait.

Kate opened and shut the door to her office after she walked in.

“Cap, before you start, I just want you to know.....”

“Nate, shut up,” she responded and took a seat behind her desk. “Assaulting a civilian? Disregarding orders? Being a public nuisance? How in the hell is this going to make us look?!”

Nate frowned. “Cap, I know it looked bad, but I.....”

“You’re damn right it looked bad! It looked terrible!” Kate readjusted her glasses and looked at the papers on her desk. “I can’t even begin to think about the possible punishments for this; hell, I COULD even fire you for it....”

“CAP, please don’t!” Nate responded. “I swear, I just lost my head! It won’t happen again! At least, not here it won’t!”

Kate nodded. “I understand that, but you have to be punished for THIS incident,” she sighed and looked up at him, dropping her glasses back on her desk. “You’re suspended for the rest of the week, Inspector.”

Nate agreed, knowing that was probably the best punishment he could’ve been dealt, given the fact that it was Tuesday. “Alright, I’m not going to argue.”

“That’s a wise choice,” Kate answered. “I don’t want you here Wednesday or Thursday; Friday I want you out of the city, if possible.”

“What?” Nate asked, confused.

“CD’s taking off Friday as well. She doesn’t know it yet, so you can tell her, but she’s not working then. Take her on a mini-vacation or something; she needs a change of scenery, and by the looks of it, so do you.”

Nate smiled. “Thanks, Cap,” he replied as he stood up and walked to the door.

Kate nodded. “You’re welcome,” she grinned as he opened the door. “Hey Nate?”

Nate turned back. “Yeah?”

Kate grinned devilishly. “What did it feel like to hit that sonofabitch?”

Nate smirked. “It felt damn good, Cap.”

Kate nodded. “I figured,” she replied and added softly, “Thanks for doing it.”

Nate laughed. “Anytime, Cap.”

“Never again is what you meant to say, right Inspector?” she teased him.

“Yeah, of course that’s what I meant!” Nate smiled and left to go talk to CD.

CD stood up immediately as Nate walked inside the interrogation room. “What happened? Are you fired?” she asked nervously.

He grinned. “No, I’m still here,” he replied. “But not for the rest of the week.”

“No, it’s not!” he exclaimed. “You did nothing wrong! I just should’ve waited until I was off the clock until I attacked him.”

CD smiled. “Is it bad that I enjoyed watching it?”

Nate laughed. “No, I liked it a little myself,” he winked at her. “Oh, by the way, what are you doing Friday?”

CD thought for a second. “Um, work, and then I have no idea.......why? You want to come over or something?”

He shook his head. “No, we’ve got Friday off, and we’re not supposed to be in city.....” he stopped when she gave him a confused look. “Captain’s orders.”

She grinned. “Oh really?”

He nodded devilishly. “Yeah, she’s a jerk sometimes,” he responded as she laughed. “So will you join me this weekend? What about Oregon?”

“Oregon, huh?”

He nodded. “Yeah, everyone leaves here to go to LA or Vegas, so why not?”

“What’s in Oregon?”

He shrugged. “You and me, nothing else matters.”

She grinned and embraced him. “You’re too good to me, Nate Basso.”

He nodded. “Yeah, but don’t worry-- you can be good to me Thursday night in Oregon.”

CD blushed and kissed his cheek. “Only if you’re good the rest of the week.”

“Oh my gosh, I’ve got work to do then!” he exclaimed and looked at his watch. “Oh no, I forgot! I’m off the clock, so I’m out of here!” he kissed her quickly on the lips. “See ya back at your place when you’re done making a living for us!” he teased her.

She walked out with him. “What is it with me being attracted to lazy, non-working men?!” she joked.

Nate chuckled. “I don’t know, I guess we’re just too good lookin for ya baby,” he replied. “But that Paul had better not ever come near you again!”

CD rolled her eyes. “Nate, shut up!” she exclaimed. “And ew, NEVER again!” she reassured him.

“Good answer,” he smiled and kissed her forehead. “Love ya, baby, I’ll see you tonight.”

CD smiled and watched him leave, and she got back to work.

That night, CD got to her apartment a little after 6, and as soon as she opened her door,
she could tell Nate had been busy. Pinesol and italian aromas filled the air. “Yum, it
smells great in here!” she exclaimed.

“Of course it does!” Nate shouted back. “I’m in the kitchen.”

She walked into the kitchen and saw Nate stirring sauce. “And what’s all this?”

He smiled. “Get used to it...or at least until I get to go back to work,” he told her. “I’ve
got spaghetti, meatballs and cheese bread in the oven. You want to make some
lemonade?”

She grinned. “I’d love to,” she told him and kissed his cheek quickly as she grabbed out a
pitcher.


That night CD and Nate ate dinner peacefully, watched the news in each other’s arms,
and then slept tightly enveloped in her bed.

Wednesday and Thursday went by very slowly, especially for Nate, who cleaned CD’s
apartment from top to bottom, and then went to his own. He didn’t clean it, however, but
he grabbed up his essentials and, with CD’s permission, moved in with her. That took a
great deal of time, but Thursday night couldn’t come quickly enough for him.

Although CD was extremely nervous of the upcoming weekend, she too, was excited. She
knew what she had to do, to prove to herself that she could still hack it, but it was going
to be a very frightful experience for her.........


Nate pulled off the interstate at Exit 94 and shook the slumbering body next to him. He’d
told CD to sleep on the way up, for the drive was long, and she’d put in 10 hours that
day. “CD, ten more minutes, and we’re there,” he whispered.

CD groaned slightly as she tried to wake up. “Okay, I’m up,” she murmured as she
started to fall back asleep.

He laughed and shook her some more. “WAKE UP, CD!” he shouted against her ear.

That brought her up and out of the seat, bright eyed. “Dammit, Nate, don’t do that
again!” she screamed but with a smile on her face.

He chuckled. “Oops, I hadn’t realized I was so loud,” he answered.

She rolled her eyes. “Yeah, whatever.”

Ten minutes went by and finally Nate found the hotel he’d chosen for them to stay in.

“Nate, what IS this?” CD asked as she looked out window.

“It’s where we’re staying; what else would it be?”

“But it looks so.........so expensive!”

He shrugged. “Nah, it’s not too bad,” he replied as he parked the car in the admittance
circle and opened the door to get out. “Be right back.”

She nodded and waited for him to come back to the car with their key.

CD put the credit card key into their door and waited for the green light to go on, so she
could open the door. Inside, as CD looked around, she couldn’t believe her eyes. A huge
bed was in the middle of a gigantic room, and champagne was chilling on the bedside
table. Soft, mode music was drumming in the background, and there were two closed
doors. She opened one of them and found the fancy bathroom-- a big garden tub was
built in the corner, a separate shower was next to it, and the his-and-her sinks were
overlooked by a huge mirror.

CD shook her head, it being so unbelievable to her. She walked out and saw Nate had
opened the other door, so she followed him in. She looked around and drew in her
breath. “Oh....my.....gosh,” was all she could get out.

Nate grinned and wrapped an arm around her. “It’s pretty nice, isn’t it?”

“Uh, a LITTLE more than pretty nice, Nate,” she replied as she looked at the gigantic
hot tub that filled the room; the music had been floating from inside there. “This is too
much, Nate. Kate said to go away for the weekend, not spend your life savings on the
weekend.”

“It’s once in a lifetime, CD, I don’t think I’ll go broke,” he replied as he turned the hot
tub on, and the bubbles began to rumble. “Ya want to get in?” he asked her.

“Nate, we just got here!”

“What’s your point?”

She chuckled. “Well, I am a little tired, and the jets would do wonders for my back.....”

“It sure would!” Nate encouraged as he pulled his shirt over his head.

CD laughed as she unbuttoned her pants and took off her socks and shoes.

Nate undressed in record time and immediately slid into the hot tub. CD peeled off her
clothes as well. Nate outreached his hand, and he helped her into the tub.

“Thank you,” she replied, blushing.

“Welcome,” he responded as she snuggled next to him.

“I meant, thank you for all of this,” she said as she kissed him quickly on the lips.

“I meant you’re welcome for all of this,” he grinned. “You deserve so much more.”

She shook her head. “All I want to you, Nate. All I NEED is you.”

He grinned and kissed her, this time more passionately and abruptly.

It surprised CD, but she quickly responded, and before she knew it, their hands were
roaming and their mouths were all over each other.

It surprised CD, but she quickly responded, and before she knew it, their hands were roaming and their mouths were all over each other.

The water began to swish out the sides of the hot tub as the action inside increased.

“Baby, I want you,” Nate muttered as his hands slid over her body.

“I want you, too,” CD murmured as she glided to the other side of the tub. She stopped kissing him long enough to grab a towel. “Let’s get out of here.”

Puzzled, Nate asked, “What? Why?”

CD grinned. “Let’s go try out the bed,” she answered.

Nate smirked. “Sounds great.”

CD stood up and climbed out, wrapping a towel around her sopping wet body. She handed one to Nate as he got out, he tied it around his midsection and helped her dry off as he nibbled roughly at her neck.

Nate grabbed her hand and led her to the bed.

CD’s heart climbed into her throat, and it was difficult for her to breathe. She didn’t let on that she was experiencing troubles, for she didn’t want to frighten him.

He laid her down on the bed and gently pulled the towel out from underneath her. He threw his towel off as well and gradually climbed on top of her.

CD’s body clamed up, and every limb froze. Her eyes welled up, and she felt like she was never going to take another grasp of air again.

Nate recognized the fear in her eyes. “Baby, it’s too soon, isn’t it?”

She shook her head as the lump released itself a little. “No, Nate, the time is right; I’m ready,” she replied shakily as she grabbed his mouth and kissed him.

He kissed her back but held onto her hips protectively. “Sweetie, I don’t want to hurt you. Let’s wait.”

“No,” she responded again, this time with more dignity. She moved his hands up her body and began kissing him again, encouraging him.

“Maybe you’d be more comfortable if you were on top?” he asked, trying to help in any way.

“We have to do it THIS way,” CD told him, remembering what it was like when Johnny had hurt her.

Nate caved in and slowly started the process he was out of practice in. He spread her legs gently and continued kissing her body.

CD clenched, scared out of her mind, and tears streamed down her face. “Go, Nate, go,” she clearly shouted at him.

Nate followed her instructions and entered her cautiously and carefully.

CD tensed and arched her back-- not for pleasure, but for air-- as she shrieked out. It hurt her knowing that she was frightening Nate, but this was something she had to get done and over with. She had to put this experience out of her mind as soon as it was
done, so she could come to enjoy again.

Nate finished quickly and watched her collapse.

Nate nodded and looked after her as she climbed out of bed and ran to the bathroom. He could hear the puking noises coming from inside, but he didn’t know if he should go in there or not.

Finally she came out and joined him back in bed, this time, with freshly brushed teeth.

“Honey, are you alright?” he asked her nervously.

CD smiled. “I’m perfectly fine now, Nate,” she replied as she kissed his lips gently. “I want to do it again.”

“What?” he frowned. “Why? You hated it!”

She nodded. “I did, but I have to keep practicing. One day I want to enjoy it when you make love to me.”

He shook his head, understanding. “Alright,” he answered. “You want on top this time?”

She shook her head. “No, I have to get used to being on the bottom and not being afraid.” she grinned broadly. “Besides, when we start having fun again, I’ll make you a deal. I’LL go on top, and give you the best you’ve ever had. How does THAT sound?”

Nate smiled. “I think that sounds great.”

She grinned. “I knew you’d see it my way,” she replied, this time grimacing, as they were preparing to make love again.

AWwwww I loved when Nate beat up Johnny! He so deserved it. And kate being okay with eventhough she knew she had to come up with some punishment for it. And CD, and sex or making love? anyway, that was soooooo sad. I hope the next time her and Nate do that, she will at least enjoy it.

Raina kissed Johnny goodnight that same evening, a little after 1 in the morning.

“I love you so much baby,” he muttered against her lips.

Raina smiled. “I love you, too,” she paused. “And I’m so sorry about Nate on Tuesday. I
don’t know what the hell his problem was.”

He nodded. “No problem, wasn’t your fault. I could’ve taken him, but you know me, I
don’t hit ladies.”

Raina giggled and kissed him again. “Oh, Johnny, you’re so funny!”

He chuckled. “I try, baby, I try,” he paused as he unlocked her door for her. “Now get
some rest; you’ve got a busy day tomorrow!”

She nodded. “I will. Goodnight!”

They kissed once more, and Johnny left her for the night.

At 3:30, Raina’s cellphone went off. She cursed and grumbled as she fumbled around for
it. “Washington,” she muttered tiredly.

“Raina, is that you?” a scared voice asked.

Raina woke up almost completely. “Yeah, who is this?”

“You don’t need to know,” the voice replied.

Raina was confused. “Alright, but what is it I DO need to know?”

“You need to know that he’s at it again.”

“Who’s at what again?”

“Your boyfriend is at it again,” the voice whispered.

“Who is this?” Raina demanded.

“Raina, please believe me. He went to this party, got totally trashed, and took this girl to
his car. She . . . . she doesn’t look too good, Raina, and I don’t know what to do with
her.”

“Who the hell is this?!” Raina repeated.

“Raina, I don’t know what to do with her!” the frantic voice screamed.

She sighed, knowing she wasn’t going to get any information from her. “Alright, is this
girl alive?”

The woman nodded. “Yes, but she’s bleeding . . . . badly. If I call anyone but you, I’d be
charged with leaving the scene or something because I saw him do it. I accidentally
walked outside while he was . . . . well, you know.”

Raina’s stomach tightened. CD was indeed telling her the truth. She sighed. “Alright, I
believe you, and I want to help. Tell me where you’re at. I want you to stay there; I
promise I’ll help you.”

“No, I’m not staying here; he’ll kill me.”

Raina sighed. “Okay, tell me where the girl that needs help is located then.”

“At Johnny’s new bar.”

“Johnny has a new bar?” Raina frowned.

“Yeah, he bought it like 3 weeks ago; didn’t you know?”

Raina’s calm mind became angry. “No, I didn’t know. It must have been something else
he was hiding from me.” she got out a piece of paper. “Give me the address.”

“406 Beadle Drive.” the girl paused. “Raina, he probably didn’t tell you because it was
a good place . . . . a good place for him and other woman . . . .”

“Okay, I know the location, and yeah, I know what you’re saying,” Raina let out a strong
breath of air. “Are you sure you’re not going to stay here and help me put this bastard
behind bars?”

The frightened woman sighed. “It’s . . . . Lauren.”

“Lauren?!” Raina exclaimed. “As in Johnny’s best friend’s girlfriend?!”

“Shh!” Lauren hissed. “Yes, alright!”

“Oh my gosh, Lauren, I’ll be right there!” Raina exclaimed as she walked out the door of
her apartment.

“Okay, Raina....” she paused. “And Raina?”

“Yeah?”

“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you earlier.”

The phone woke CD up that same early morning. Her head was buried in Nate’s chest
when she heard the ringing. She cursed and searched around, finding her cell on the
bedside table. “Hmmm?” she muttered into it.

“CD, I’m sorry to wake you, but I need you back here as soon as possible.”

“Who the hell is this?” CD grumbled as she rubbed her eyes and glanced at the alarm
clock. Five am.

“Sorry, it’s Captain McCafferty. They picked up Johnny last night for another rape, CD.
We need you in here for a statement.”

“But I.....I have no evidence......”

“We just need a statement, CD. We probably can’t incarcerate him with it, but with the
collaboration of yours and this other girl’s, we should be able to get a conviction.”

CD nodded. “Alright, I’ll get Nate going, and we’ll be back in the city as soon as
possible.”

“Use lights and sirens, CD. His well-paid attorney is trying to get him out, and if he has
his way, he’ll be out by close tonight.”

“We’ll be there before then,” CD told her as she jabbed Nate in the ribs.

“OW!” he exclaimed.

“Bye Cap,” CD replied and hung up her phone. “Nate, we gotta get back to the
Division.”

“I’m suspended,” he whined as he wrapped his arms around her. “We’re not going
anywhere.”

“Yes, we are,” she answered as she threw his clothes at him, so she could start packing
their suitcases. “Johnny hit again, and Kate needs my statement to keep him in jail.”

Nate’s body fully awakened. The muscles in his forearm tightened, and his hands formed
fists. “Alright, we’re out of here then. Lights and sirens all the way home, and I won’t
hear any arguments from you about breaking policy.”

CD smiled as she put on a striped 3/4 sleeve shirt and tan pants. “Kate already gave us
permission,” she told him as she threw her dirty clothes into a suitcase.

Nate put his stuff together as well. “Good,” he murmured as he looked around. “What
are we forgetting?”

She shrugged. “To be calm?”

He laughed. “Yeah, but I don’t think I could ever be calm while thinking of that bastard.”

She nodded. “Me neither,” she replied as she picked up her suitcases and purse. “Let’s
get out of here.”

Back at the station, CD and Nate practically ran over each other as they hustled through the doors together.

Jin looked up from her desk to say ‘hello,’ but they’d already made it into Kate’s office.

Raina saw them come in and followed to Kate’s. She opened the door and walked in.

Kate looked up. “Raina, this is a closed statement at the time. I’d like for you to leave.”

“I have to talk to CD,” Raina responded matter-of-factly.

“It’ll have to wait,” Kate and Nate answered at the same time.

“But it’s really important!” Raina complained.

“So is this, so she’ll meet with you after I’m done with her.”

Raina sighed and left the room. Jinny and Mag, who both knew very little as to what was going on, looked on.

“Raina, can I ask . . . .” Magda started.

“Johnny raped someone else, CD was in another state, and now he’s in jail. What else is there to know?” she spat out and went back to the files on her desk.

Jinny and Magda looked at each other, not knowing what to say.

Finally, Jin spoke. “Raina, I’m really sorry about him. He always treated you with a lot of respect, so I can kind of understand how you believed him,” she paused, knowing Raina needed even more comfort than what she could give her. “CD’s going to forgive
you, ya know?”

Raina’s face turned into a sad smile. “I hope so.”

“She will, Raina,” Magda added. “She’s got a good heart, and she’ll understand.”

“But I called her so many names,” Raina thought about the past couple of weeks. “I blamed her for the fight between Johnny and Nate, and I called her a liar. Who could forgive that?”

“CD DeLorenzo can forgive that,” a voice behind Raina replied.

She looked back and saw CD and Nate had just left the office and heard every word. “CD.....but....how.....????”

CD smiled. “Let’s go talk,” she said and walked to the women’s room.

Raina followed and shut the door behind her. “CD, I’m so.....”

“Sorry, I know,” CD replied. “Before I hear that, I want you to know a few things. First of all, you need to try harder to believe in who you think is telling you the truth and not hear what you WANT to hear. That will cost you over and over in your life, trust me. Secondly, I’ve NEVER known a woman to lie about something as huge and difficult as rape. When you called me a liar, I believed it a little. I questioned myself, even though I knew exactly what had happened that night.”

“CD, I know that now....”

CD nodded. “Yes you do, but please, let me finish. I know what it’s like to have a man lie to you. It hurts, but in the beginning, you still listen to what he says and believe it. They make you think it’s your fault. I just want you to know that if you go talk to Johnny or confront him, he’s more than likely going to blame you and your relationship.”

Raina agreed. “I figured I’d get the blame for a lot of it.” she shrugged. “I probably deserve it to, but not for his reasons. If I would’ve listened to you, he could’ve already been behind bars. If I would’ve looked for warning signs, then maybe....”

“Stop it,” CD commanded. “This is NOT your fault. None of it is, even if it feels like it. I feel extremely guilty for not reporting the rape before that other woman got raped, too, but I know that I can’t do anything about that now except for write my statement and testify.”

Raina nodded as she wiped a single tear from her eye. “CD, I’m so sorry that that bastard did that to you, and you have no clue how horrible I feel for everything I’ve done to you.”

CD smiled and wrapped her in a quick hug. “Raina, I forgive you. Let’s let it go, alright?” she asked.

“How can you just let it go? If I were you, I’d be angry with me for the rest of my life.”

CD smiled. “Thank God the roles are reversed then!” she teased her. “But seriously, let’s put what was said aside and not dwell on it any longer. It will only lead to heartache and stomach ulcers.”

She grinned. “You’re right, CD. Thanks for being so understanding.”

CD’s statement was immediately processed, which assured Johnny’s ass in jail until his court date. The two lawyers discussed and agreed that, since the case was very public
already--with a professional athlete in the spotlight-- that there was no way a fair jury could be selected from the state of California. The location for the sentencing and charges would have to be moved out-of-state. Phone calls were made, favors were used, and finally a destination had been concluded. A fast trial date--only two days away-- in Georgia.

Nate sat at his desk nervously while waiting on CD and Kate to get back from the meeting. Jinny had tried talking to him, Mag asked about their relationship, and Raina apologized again, but he just sat there, untouched or unmoved. He needed to be by CD’s side; he didn’t want her to have to be by that predator’s attorney the rest of the day while compiling an arrangement.

Two long hours passed before CD and Kate emerged through the doors. By then, Nate was fast asleep on his desk, catching up on the lost hours of the night before. CD grinned and looked over at Kate. “Looks like we’ll be going now.”

Kate chuckled and smiled. “I think you’re right, CD. I’ll see ya Sunday night then?”

CD nodded. “Yeah, can Nate fly down with us?” she asked.

“Of course he can,” Kate answered. “I’ll see if I can get it financed by the state.

CD grinned. “Thanks.”

Kate nodded and left for her office.

The other Inspectors had left for the evening, but that didn’t bother CD. All she cared about was the slightly snoring Inspector that had walked into her life.

She sauntered over to his desk and kissed his cheek. “Baby, wake up.”

Nate stirred.

“Let’s go home,” she whispered as she kissed his ear.

Nate grinned and opened his eyes. “Hey baby,” he commented as he stood and hugged her. “I missed you. How did it go?”

She shrugged. “It went. Let’s get home. I promise I’ll tell you all about it when we get there.”

He nodded and followed her out. She carefully drove home while Nate snuggled against her.

She pulled in to their apartment and woke him up again. They walked upstairs, hand-in-hand, and Nate immediately asked for the story.

CD sat on the couch, as well as Nate, and she snuggled up close to him. “We leave on Sunday, you and me. We’re going to Georgia for a mini vacation.”

“Georgia? Mini vacation?” Nate asked, puzzled.

CD nodded. “Yeah, we’ll be there for a couple of days. I have to help Kate on a case, but in the evenings, it’s just you and me. Feel like accompanying me?” she grinned.

Nate smiled. “Of course I want to go, but what case?”

“The rape case vs. Johnny,” CD muttered. “But that’s not going to put a damper on our fun, I promise. We’re going to spend so much time with each other, and I even have a surprise for you,” she grinned and kissed his cheek.

“Baby, of course I’ll go with you, but that doesn’t sound like a vacation. It sounds like hell for you.”

She nodded. “The day will be, but I’ll have you to look forward to at night.”

He grinned. “I’ll be there in the day with you. I don’t want you in there alone.”

She shook her head. “It’s a closed court, baby. You can’t be in there, except when you testify.”

“When do I testify?”

She shrugged. “I don’t know yet. The prosecutor is subpoenaing you with the information.”

He nodded. “I’ll be there then.”

“Okay, now that that’s settled......can we go to bed?”

“Yeah, I’m exhausted after that drive.”

“Me, too,” she responded.

Nate held out a hand for her to take as they both climbed off of the couch. They went to their bedroom for the night and made love quickly before falling to an exhaustion for the rest of the night and half the next day.

Two days later Nate, CD, Kate, and Raina were boarded on a plane heading for Georgia. Raina begged to travel with them, since she had to testify anyway; Kate agreed, so she’d have someone to spend time in the evenings with.

CD snuggled against Nate on the way down, while all four of them made small talk. When they arrived to the airport and then to the hotel, Nate checked in him and CD, and Kate checked in her and Raina in a room on the same floor but at the opposite end. The four said their good-byes, and Nate grabbed all the luggage while CD unlocked the door.

“Ugh, we couldn’t have gotten here any sooner,” CD announced exhaustedly as she flopped on the big master bed.

Nate grinned. “Took the words right out of my mouth,” he answered as he sat the suitcases down.

CD scooted over. “Come join me,” she told him and lifted an arm out for him to grasp.

He smiled lovingly and slid onto the bed with her. “Mmmm, I missed you,” he replied as he skimmed his arms over her middle.

“Missed me? I haven’t went anywhere,” she teased him.

He laughed. “I haven’t had you by myself for the past 5 hours.”

She giggled. “Well, we could invite Raina and Cap over here is you want.......”

He slugged her arm. “You jerk, you better not!” he exclaimed as he kissed her neck. “I want you all to myself.”

She sighed and kissed his cheek. “Let’s sleep, baby. I’m tired.”

He nodded, picked her up, and stood her beside the bed so he could turn it down.

CD went to a suitcase and found her and his pajamas. She tossed his to him and headed for the bathroom.

“Where are you going?” he questioned.

“Bathroom to change,” she replied.

“You can change right here, honey, I’ve seen you once or twice,” he teased her.

“No, thanks,” she murmured as she opened and closed the bathroom door behind her. She looked at herself in the mirror. “Damn case,” she muttered as another emotion
waved over her. The timid emotion had sunk in, and fear was next to come if she wasn’t careful. It made her so angry to experience those kind of feelings toward Nate.

Nate lied patiently in bed, waiting for her to come back. Finally, fifteen minutes later she came back out and had obviously been crying, for her face was red where she’d rubbed the mascara off of her cheeks.

“Sweetheart?”

“I’m fine,” she responded and crawled in beside him, nestling into his chest. “Goodnight.”

Nate knew she wouldn’t be the same until this case was completely over. “Goodnight, CD.”

Awww, so sad, :( but also so sweet. It's such sweet sorrow, what can I say? ;) :) Poor CD and Nate......I'll be glad when the case is over and done with, too. I love this fic, Lisa! Post more soon! :)

Okay, so I need to be writing other things, but then I just come to many roadblocks, and I'm like uhhhhhhh now what?? LOL, so I decided to try this fic. Here's more, u know what to do! :)

The next few days, Raina and Nate spent a little time together while Kate and CD went to court. Kate was allowed to be there since she was the commanding officer, it was her precient where it happened the first time, and her precient had been notified first the last time Johnny struck.

Kate sat right beside CD through all of it, and she held her hand at during times. Everytime she flinched, everytime he’d look over at her, and everytime she’d close her eyes, Kate’s hand would gently squeeze. CD would look up in appreciation and squeeze back.

On Wednesday it was Raina’s and Nate’s turns to testify. It was so much harder for CD that day, since Nate was in the court. She felt so ashamed and relieved that he wouldn’t be able to be there when she testified.

He finished and mouthed the words, ‘I love you’ to her as he walked out.

CD smiled, and Kate grabbed a hand. “You’re so lucky to have him,” she whispered.

CD nodded. “You have no idea,” she replied as the judge called an hour recess for lunch.

The four of them met up in a small diner to eat.

“You guys did great,” CD encouraged Nate and Raina as they sat down.

Nate sighed. “His lawyer made me look the bad guy. I’m sorry, sweetie, I probably ruined your testimony.”

“Nate, come on! No, you didn’t! You did a great job, and that’s all I can ask for! His lawyer is paid big bucks, he’s supposed to make you look like the bad guy!”

“I think you both did excellent,” Kate announced. “Let’s just eat, so CD and I can get back.”

“Yeah, today’s my turn,” CD whispered.

“It is?” Nate asked with big eyes. “You didn’t tell me.”

“I didn’t think they’d get to me today, but yours and Raina’s went quickly.”

“Good luck, CD,” Raina spoke up.

“Thanks, Raina.”

They finished eating, and CD and Kate went back to the courtroom.

That night CD walked into her hotel room around 9pm. Nate had been pacing back and forth, wondering if she was alright. Her cell wasn’t picking up, and he was worried sick.

“CD!” he exclaimed as she walked through the door.

“Hey,” she said in a small voice. “I hope you weren’t waiting up on me.”

“Of course I was! How was it?”

She shrugged. “It went. It’s over. No big deal,” she stopped and looked at his scared face. “Nate, I’m fine. Kate and I took a long walk after court let out at 6.”

“That’s alright. Did it help?”

She smiled smally. “Yeah, some. I’m really tired though. I think I’m ready for bed.”

He nodded. “Okay, I’ll go turn it down then while you change.”

She concurred. “Okay, I’ll be there in a second.”

Nate pushed the covers back and hopped into bed. A knock was at the door, so he got back up to answer it. A bellboy was there with a roll-away bed.

“Here you are, Sir,” he replied.

“Um, a roll-away? I’m sorry, you must have the wrong room.”

CD came out of the bathroom with her pajamas on and her hair in a pony. “No, it’s the right room. Thanks.”

The young man nodded and left.

“A roll-away?” Nate questioned.

“Yeah, don’t take it personally,” CD answered as she pushed it beside his bed. “I’m sorry, but I need my space tonight.”

Nate sighed. “Rougher day than expected?”

She smiled. “It was about 10 times worse than what I thought it would be.”

He nodded. “Alright, well if you want to talk or anything....”

“..you’ll be here, and I promise I will when I’m able.”

“Sounds like a plan. Can I kiss you goodnight?”

“I’d be sad if you didn’t,” she replied and let him kiss her gently on the lips.

They both climbed into their beds and lied on the edge of both of them. Nate reached out and took her hand. She smiled and let him clasp over hers, as they slept like that for the rest of the night.

At around 3 am, Nate stirred at the sudden movement in his bed. He could feel her body pressed up against his, and she was holding on tightly. He could tell she was crying, but he also knew that she didn’t want to talk. He decided to act like he was still sleeping but still snuggle up next to her.

CD crawled under his arms and buried her head into his chest. “I love you so much, Nate. More than I can ever tell you.”

A tear dropped down his cheek as he held her as close as she could get to him for the rest of the night.

Three more days passed. The day had ended, and CD called Nate’s cell to get a hold of him.

“Hey baby!” he exclaimed after he heard her voice.

“Hey, you. Whatcha doing?” she asked him.

“Raina and I are in town, at the mall. We got so bored doing nothing, so this was the only place we could think of. It’s pretty boring, too, though.”

“I’m sorry,” she grinned. “Did you buy me anything good?” she teased.

“Eh, uh......YEAH, of course I did!” Nate lied.

She laughed. “Liar!”

He chuckled. “Well, I was on my way to buy you something, ya know!”

“I was just kidding, Nate. Don’t buy me anything; I’m perfectly fine,” she paused and smiled at Kate. “So what time are you going to be back at the hotel?”

“Oh, I don’t know. Are you back there for the night?”

“Yep, and I need you here as soon as you get done.”

Nate frowned. “Is everything okay?”

“Yeah, I’m just ready to talk now is all.”

“Okay, then I’ll be there as soon as I can.”

“Sounds good. Love ya,” CD replied as she hung up.

“Love you, too,” he smiled into the receiver and looked at Raina, who was pondering over some shoes. “Are you going to buy them or not?”

She shrugged. “I don’t know; I’m still deciding.”

He mumbled to himself, ready to go back to the hotel to see his CD. “Raina, all those shoes make your feet look huge! I’d suggest not buying any of them.”

She frowned. “They do?” she asked as he nodded. “Oh, well, thanks for telling me!” she exclaimed as she took off the new shoes and put her old ones on.

“Hey, anytime,” he replied as he hustled her out of the store.

“What’s your hurry?”

“CD and Kate are out for the day,” he explained.

“Oh, NOW I see why my feet looked fat in those shoes!” she lauged.

“Yeah, so let’s get back!”

Raina followed the man-in-love back to their rent-a-car and drove back to the hotel.

Nate opened the door to their room and called out, “CD, I’m back!”

He walked on it and looked for her. “CD?” he asked, as there was no sign of her. He frowned and got out his cellphone to call hers.

“DeLorenzo,” she answered with a smirk on her face.

“Baby, where are you? I hurried back to see you, and now you’re not here!”

“You hurried back? Why?”

“Because you’re ready to talk, remember?”

She smiled. “I am?”

“YES, you said you were!” he whined.

“Nate, I don’t want to talk right now.”

“CD, where are you? Why’d you leave?”

“Nate, I don’t want to talk about it.”

“CD, where ARE you?!” he repeated.

She laughed. “I’m on the next floor, in room 316.”

“WHY?”

“Because it’s a great place to be,” she grinned. “Maybe you should join me?”

“What’s going on, CD?”

“Come upstairs, room 316.”

He sighed. “Fine, I’ll be there.”

He ran up the stairs and saw the door to room 316 was cracked open. He opened it slowly and walked in. “CD?”

“Come on in,” a voice called.

He walked to the main part of the room and saw her lying on the bed, half dressed. “What’s going on?”

“I said I didn’t want to talk, didn’t I?” she grinned in all her glory as he stared at her. “I want you first. Before we say a word to one another.”

“You......you......you want to?” he sputtered. “I mean.......with me? And for fun?”

She smiled. “Yes, I want to! And only with you, and YES, for fun!” she promised him as she played with her bra strap. “So....does that mean you’re going to get over here?”

Nate practically ran to the bed and tackled her. He got on top of her quickly, ripping off his own clothes and throwing her undergarments on the floor. He kissed all over her, like the old days.

She stopped him and pulled out from under him.

“Oh, baby, I’m so sorry, I scared you by going too fast, didn’t I?” he asked nervously.

She grinned slyly as she lied him back down and straddled him. “No, no, you weren’t going too fast. I just promised you something once this was all over,” she explained as she stayed on top.

Nate understood and smiled. “I love you, baby.”

She grinned mischievously as they began the process of their love. “I love you, too, gorgeous.”

CD, Nate, Kate, and Raina returned to California the following afternoon. Kate went straight to the Division, to check on her other Inspectors. Raina went to visit some friends, and CD and Nate took a ride home.

They dropped off their bags, grabbed a basket, filled it to its capacity and hopped back in the car.

Nate drove them to a deserted field-- the perfect place for a romantic picnic.

“This is amazing,” CD breathed as she looked at the flowers surrounding the place where they would be eating.

Nate nodded as he lugged out the basket to their spot, as CD threw down the blanket.

They ate quietly and focused primarily on that.

“This is so relaxing, Nate,” CD spoke up.

Nate grinned as he opened his arms. “Come here,” he commanded.

She smirked and crawled into his arms. “This is even better.”

“Doesn’t get much better than this, does is?”

She shook her head. “I don’t know how it ever could.”

Nate chuckled and pulled out a small box from his pocket. “Well, I guess you won’t be wanting this then?”

She blushed as she giggled nervously, opening the ring box. “Nate’s it’s so gorgeous!” she responded as she took the silver diamond ring out of the box. “But......but....??”

“But marry me?” he smiled and kissed her nose. “You know you want to.”

She laughed. “I do, huh?”

He nodded. “Yeah, I’m pretty sure of it, actually.”

She snickered. “Well, I’d like to sit here and say, ‘No, thanks anyway,’ but you might get snatched up before I tell you that I’m just joking.”

“So is that a YES?!” he exclaimed.

She smiled broadly. “Well, I suppose it is!”

He kissed her roughly on the lips as he slipped the symbol of his love on her ring finger. “I love you, CD.”

“I love you, too, Nate. Thanks for waiting for me.”

“I could’ve waited forever, CD. I would’ve waited forever.”
