I know that this is a sick subject and even my own parents and brother and sister don't like it as well but if I could go back to college I would love to study the physcology and investigate what makes a normal human person turned into a serial killer. I watch shows on Court Tv, A&E, Discovery, TLC, etc when any serial killer is profiled. The term serial killer wasn't brought into the dictionary until Ted Bundy was arrested for murdering close to 35 young women and one of them was the youngest a 12-year old girl before he was "juiced" in 1989 in Florida. Here are some facts that are too good to be true:

1. Serial killers are not like scumbags, criminal looking, or really the "filfth of the world" kind of people. It is hard to believe but a author Anne Rule, who knew Bundy personally and worked with him at a crisis center for young teenagers said that they act normal and blend easily into society

2. They are often well-educated(Bundy graduated in Chinese with a BA with high honors and was briefly attending law school), well-liked(John Wayne Gacy was a pillar and popular in the community especially with the neighborhood children who dressed up as Pogo the clown to entertain the kids at their birthday parties), seem like your typical everyday normal human being(like also Jeffrey Dahlmer who went into the Armed Forces for a year and also briefly attended college)

3. They look like happy go lucky on the outside but they are mentally and emotionally disturbed individuals and always seeking and wanting attention and are mainly all alone up to 85% of the time

4. They privately but effectively look for why they kill and who they kill. The people they kill either know them like briefly or don't know them at all but serial killers target them anyway just to get "A thrill for killing"

Examples:

1. John Wayne Gacy hired young males like in-between the ages of 12-17 and sometimes in their very early twenties. He hired them for his hardware store and tried to make friends with the teens. Then invited them to his house where he performed sex acts on them and then killed them for fear of the teens going to the police. Gacy seemed gregarious on the outside but as up to 38 boys would find out they were denied a chance to tell their side of the story because about a few years later when one of his few would be victims escaped he went and told on Gacy and what acts he performed or tried and then police had Gacy under survillance and then months later they begin to smell flesh and blood and then they found the boys bodies in the crawlspace of his house and the town of Chicago were stunned. He was executed by lethal injection in 1994. One of the signs says "No more tears for the clown" and had Gacy as Pogo on the poster and behind bars

2. Jeffrey Dahlmer was handsome and women were attracted to him but he wasn't attracted to the opposite sex. One day he was alone and his parents were in the process of a divorce and he was living with his mom I think and he met a man the same age his teens and then Jeffrey, who was obsessed with the antomies of animals like lizards, frogs, even snakes, spiders, etc was decaptiating the animals with his own tools and own kit and then he invited the other kid and then he struck him down several times until he died and put his body in a bag and took it to the local nearby dump. The boy's parents never suspected Dahlmer of killing their son. He was only 17 when he killed his first victim. He went for a stint in the Army but dropped out a year later and got a job at a nearby Milwaukee chocolate factory and was a shy, quiet, and caused no trouble whatsoever and ate his doughnuts on break on the nightshift. Then he began crusing gay/lesbian bars and picked up men, somehow African-Americans mostly was his liking for some strange reason. Then they would go and drink beer at his apartment and then like the first victim he killed he struck the men and performed sex acts on them. Then, of course to not make the story so disgusting and graphic, cannobolize their remains and was like the Hannibal the Cannibal character made famous in The Silence of the Lambs. His landlords nor his neighbors in the apartment didn't expect any trouble from Dahlmer and said that he was quiet and very considerate but also said that he didn't buy that much "real food" when he goes to the market but mainly beer. Nobody expected anything until one night in 1991 an Asian teen was found butt naked and beaten to the max and he told the people who found him that Jeffrey Dahlmer did this to him and then he died later. Then the landlords and people in his building were shocked and police began to search Dahlmer''s apartment and found the remains of his victims and only very little food and mainly beer. They found the remains in a huge containers like in iceboxes and refridgerators and Dahlmer's bosses also fired him when he didn't show up for work more than ten times and/or showed up later than his required shift. He then made international news and since Wisconsin didn't have a death penalty he got up to in-between 11 to 15 life terms without the possibility of parole and/or probation for each killing. Then he was tried on the Ohio killing teenager which he lived there as a kid growing up and was sentenced to 99 years behind bars as the Milwaukee judge told him that he will never see the light of freedom ever, ever, again. Dahlmer became a born-again Christian and was for almost all of his thirty-four years on earth was estranged from his father until NBC Dateline arranged an emotional meeting and he was considered a model prisoner. He and his dad kept in touch but on November 28 1994 while reporting to pool duty he was blundgeon to death by an inmate serving time for murder.

I've seen a few shows about Dahmer I find it very interesting but very very VERY disgusting.

I don't see anything wrong with wanting to know what makes serial killers do what they do. I once started reading a book about this elderly man who kidnapped kids in the 1920's and 30's then murdered and ate them. The book went into every detail of what he did to these kids. It was so gross in fact that I never finished the book.

Aileen Wuenos is known as one of the "very, very" few if not the first female serial killer and she is portrayed by Charlize Theron who is Oscar nominated for her role in "Monster" and BTW all bets on her to take home the trophy as the movie portrays her as the "victim" much less to the dismay of the victims families. You know that is just Hollywood I guess!!?? Figure it out!! She was an lesbian and frequentally hung out in gay/lesbian bars and shruck a relationship with a young woman named Selby portrayed in the movie by Christine Ricci and they had a "love affair" with each other(pre-Ellen Degeneras-Anne Heche) and kept in touch even though they saw less of each other. She then turned her attention on men and she hitched hiked all around Florida and earned cash as a prostitue/stripper and she would mostly gather white, middle-aged, middle-classed, men who had families and do strip acts on them and she claimed when she shot and killed the men that it was "she" not them was the victim also much less to the chargin and dismay of the victims's families. She claimed she was emotionally, mentally, and physically abused and raped or almost raped and when the men came to "rape her" she shot the men in callous & cold blood. Most of them lied butt naked and she killed seven as reported but may have killed many, many, more and that is something that she took to her grave. She was spotted and was arrested for indencent & public exposure(Dahlmer was arrested for public exposure & intoxication in front of minors) but then the DNA came back as she became a suspect in several murders in Florida as some of her clothing were found on the men, their cars, hotels, etc. She was facing the electric chair(the chair that took Ted Bundy's life) and she was found competant to stand trial even though she acted like she was a stupid person. As her former lover Selby testified about Wuernos wanting to kill men and fantasized about killing them and her inferiority on men intensified. After a nearly long month trial she was guilty on about twenty counts of first degree murder, sodimy, "rape on a man", and was sentenced to die. In the now infamous waiting for her punishment she said that she has found peace in the Lord as she was fingerprinted. The next few days when her penalty was death she was cursing like she had a mouth of a sailor. She had to be restrained. She gave only one interview in her nine years on death row. She acted like she wasn't there and still proclaimed her innocence. Switching from the electric chair due to a now infamous and graphic pictures of an 300-pound man and his face and head all bloodied to lethal injection(now the #1 death choice replacing the nearly century old former death choice the electric chair) and after nearly nine years on death row, she was put to sleep quietly in 2002.

I don't find the subject 'Sick' either. I've watched numerous shows on Serial Killers on all the Channels you listed- plus I read up on a few online also. There's actually ways to classify them and everything. The subject is extremely fascinating, but really sick and twisted to when you hear about what they do. It's gross, but interesting to find out how, for the most part, they think and how the authorities catch them. I do the research cause I write crime stories, and my fan-fictions are about 'The Division', a cop show, so I like to know what I'm writing about and not doing it blind.


The Hannibal Series is actually pretty interesting. I find the best being 'Red Dragon' the book and the movie are extraordinary!! !

I've been reading about murder all of my adult life. I know my serial murders like some people know athletes or actors.

About 12 years ago, I sent away for a Time-Life collection called, True Crime. Every month I would get a book on crime....Mob, serial killers, famous murders, celebrity murders, etc.

Wayne Williams who was found guilty of some of the Atlanta child killings in the early 1980's was black, but you are right, most of the ones who get all the publicity are white.

I dont think its sick at all, either. Im really fascinated with ghosts and psychics. What Im really interested in is the mind.. psychology. Id love to go to a psychologist and have him just pick my mind apart and tell me about myself lol. Well, if it's sick then you have lots of company, including myself. Lots and lots of people have an interest in murder cases in general, not just serial killers. Book stores have an entire section for "True Crime" books, most of which are about murders.

Yes, many of these killers apparently seem so ordinary to those around them. Some are considered shy, or studious, or friendly, or... Frequently it is quite a surprise to their friends and family when they are found to be guilty of such horrific acts.

It is all very interesting.

I find the Jack The Ripper murders very interesting too. Years ago I had a movie idea about Jack The Ripper, so I read a few books on the subject.

Today I'm clearing out my bookshelves and I have come across a few books about crime and serial killers.

I dont think it's sick. I read a lot online about Crimes and the like. I've watched tons of Cold Case Files on A & E and then researched the stuff they talk about online.

Someone from a town near me was featured onetime on Unsolved Mysteries - another show I watch when I get a chance.

It's not weird or sick - I'd love to have the brains and/or money to go to college and learn to do work like the CSI people. I Think it would be an amazing job!

I find serial killers extremely fascinating and have been researching them since I was about 12 or 13. In 10th grade History class, I was able to answer all of the teachr's questions about Charles Manson and also provided some extra information. It freaked him out and for the remainder of the school year he thought that I was a follower of Charles Manson. Amusing.

Ted Bundy was born Theodore Robert Bundy on November 24, 1946 to an unwed mother named Louise Cornwell and she married a cook named Johnny Bundy as Ted had two younger brothers and two younger sisters. His mother had him when she was 15 or 16 really young. Ted was shy, introverted, and quiet and not to popular with the girls in school but he was intelligent and articulate. He volunteered at the Seattle Crisis Center with soon to be well-known crime writer Anne Rule who was a former FBI agent and he was also active in the Republican Party and was either going to be a lawyer or a politician. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in Chinese Studies and was accepted to law school.

He was engaged to a woman but she wasn't interested in him and that was what started his crimes but it is believed he committed his first murder as a local paper boy and killed the girl when he was 15 and she was like 7 or 8 and she was sick from school. He also was an Eagle Scout as well and seemed to have everything going for him. Then, a string of about 8 or 9 murders occured and women seemed to be disappearing one week after another. Bundy had played the part of a man who had a cast on his arm or leg and the ladies felt sorry for him and that is how they disappeared. The famous "Ted" case occured and though Bundy was on the list with over 3,000 people in Washington State with his name, he seemed like a least likely suspect. At a campground attending law school in Tacoma Washington he tried to wow a college woman who was married but she was not interested at first but he got another woman from the nearby college and then the married woman took a liking after he told the women that he could take them up in his sailboat. Both women disappeared and then their remains was found.

The killings stopped and Bundy went to Utah and a whole new string of murders occured in his brief stay at law school and not just in Utah but in Idaho, Colorado, & Oregon about over thirty women vanished. Then one day, a young woman named Carol Da Roach came and saw a man who identified himself as a police detective and told her that her car was taken. And she went with him believing he was with the police and then when she felt something wrong and knew that the police station was way back where they were driving far, the "officer" tried to handcuff her but she struggled and finally ran out of the man's yellow volkswagon and then if a tow truck didn't stop along the way, the lady would have been another victim but the "policeman" fled.

The woman made a statement and identified her attacker and even though the man cut his long hair, she identified him as Ted Bundy. He was held without bond pending trial for kidnapping, attempted murder, and possibly a suspect in a dozen more murders. While awaiting trial he escaped from the jail library but was caught the next day and was facing escape charges that carry with the kidnapping and attempted murder charges a 99-year sentence and to top it all off, up to thirty likable kidnappings-murders in four states that would carry a death sentence. While awaiting charges, Bundy asked his defense attorney what state would execute a person if they committed a henious crime. The lawyer said Florida because the ban on capital punishment was lifted in that state and executions were taking place there as the #1 state to execute people at the time. Bundy lost over 35 pounds, staged his second but carefully crafted escape and when dinner was called, Bundy acted like he was "sick" and then he escaped through a ceiling on the roof and climbed out the jailer's house next to the jail and escaped from Colorado all the way to Gainsville Florida and shaved his beard and cut his long hair and now called himself Chris Gaines, a student there.

He then went on the University of Florida Gainesville main campus and there when he was drinking at the local college pub he spotted two young women like juniors or seniors. Then he went and put on a black ski mask and went into the Omega House and there he blungeon two women to death by strangling, raping, and decapitating their bodies and nearly killed four other women but all four survived. Then there was a woman who was on a date and she then was going to her room and then saw a man with a ski mask with lots of blood on his clothes and sweating and she then saw the blood on the stairs and let out a scream. Then as he was driving to find his next "victim" he got a 12-year old girl and told her that he was a friend of the family and then that girl was his last victim and also his youngest as he mutilated her and beated her to death and laid her lifeless and decapitated body in a nearby pigsty to be found a month later. Then as he was driving from a apartment he was renting he was stopped by police as a nationwide manhunt went on and he tried to ran but the officer grabbed him and beat him up and cuffed him. He was then in Florida custody as Colorado and Washington authorities tried to extrodite him back to their respective states but Florida officials said that he is staying put and also linked him to over thirty-five other killings and even more. He told a detective when asked how many women and girls had he murdered, he told them "Add a digit!!" His trial would be the one of the first trials if not the first ever trial televised in its entirety since the Lindsburg kidnapping case. It would be a circus and Bundy would act as his own attorney having studied law. (To be continued...)

police officer who arrested him and the details of that arrest?

BTW, forget the name of the Pensocola officer but anyway Bundy was smart, articulate, and also very arrogant and cocky(did anybody see him when the sheriff read him his rights and the charges against him and he had on a gray jumpsuit!!) He said he was denied his rights in jail and he and the judge went head-on and he asked witnesses over & over again who attacked them and who was it that attacked those women. They are said over and over again that it was him and then as the trial dragged on and on for nearly six months the nation was fascinated and he proved that he would had been a great lawyer had he not been on the other side of the law. The DA told the jury to give Bundy the same kind of mercy that he gave those women which was absolutely none!! The verdict that convicted him on all counts also gave him death in the electric chair.

Bundy said in his penalty phrase that he will suffer and that his family will suffer for and with him as well as his mother, with whom he had since reconcile during his trial pleaded with the jury and said that her Christian upbringing says the even the state of Florida isn't above the law to take anybody's life. But the death penalty was handed down nonetheless. The judge told Bundy that he was bright and intelligent and would love to have him practice in his courtroom but told him and I quote "you went another way partner and I cherish no grudge nor hard feelings against you!! Take care of yourself son!!"

In the 12-year old Kimberly Leach trial, Bundy proposed to his long-time girlfriend with whom he met before the killings occur Carol Boone, a single mom of a now minister son and they were married in court and later had a daughter. In that trial, Bundy was quiet and didn't act as his own lawyer and again was sentenced to die in the electric chair. It would take up to nine years and a few months and weeks and appeals and death warrants withdrawn before Bundy would meet the chair. To be continued....

After escaping death in 1986 twice and once in 1987, In Janaury 17, 1989 then Florida Governor Bob Martinez issued a death warrant he signed saying Bundy has been on death row for nearly a decade and that was too long for Bundy still alive on death row and then Bundy, in a desperate attempt to delay his execution again called investigators from Colrado, Utah, Washington, Montana, & Florida to confess that he admitted to killing over twenty-three women and will tell them where the bodies were in exchange to halt his execution as time was running out. The investigators found some of the women't bodies where Bundy told them where they were but several other bodies were not either able to be found and still missing to this day and/or the bodies are now full of dust. Bundy was having his lawyers go to the both the Florida & US Supreme Courts to delay his execution for at least two more years but both courts turned down the death appeals.

He then was granted a press conference then changed his mind the last second and children's and Christian physcologist Dr James Dobson of Focus on the Family granted Bundy's his last interview and Bundy tearfully admitted to killing the women and girls and blamed his addiction on pornography when he was living with an aunt and uncle after he found porno magazines and real-crime books & he began to obsessed with killing people as well as drinking. He then said he deserves the most extreme punishment society as to offer but no way that killing him would help soothe the victims' families pain and bring their daughters back to them & warned kids not to be like him and said he grown up in a Christian family and that he was now close to his mother.

On Tuesday January 24, 1989 he talked and apologized to his mother and said a "part of him was hidden" and sorry for his crimes. He didn't have an appetite when offered steak, eggs, and coffee so he was then had his head and ankles and arms shaved so that the electrodes in the electric chair could hit him and wore loose blue jeans and pants. He then proclaimed that he was a born-again Christian as he and Dr Dobson read scriptures and prayed all night two nights before his execution. Bundy admitted to being a Mormon then a Buddhist and a Hindu and even became a vegan one time in his early death row years. Then he began listening to Dr Dobson in early 1988 and committed himself to Christ. Bundy was then led to the death chamber amid protestors and cheering crowds with signs like "Burn Bundy Burn!! Thank God It's Fry-day!! Roses are Red & Violets are Blue Good Morning Ted, We are going to kill you!!" And while being strapped to the chair for the murder of Kimberly Leach the warden offered him his last words Bundy said to his stepson James now a preacher and another preacher "I want you all to give my love to my family and friends" and then a hood was put on him and the unknown executioner(thought to be a woman) flipped a switch amid 2,000 volts of electricity and at 7:16 am Theodore Robert Bundy was pronounced dead. Then when the hearst pulled away the crowd was cheering like they were at a sporting event. Ted Bundy was 42 but his legacy of terror remains forever sadly.

Just saw a movie on Bundy starring Robert John Burke and it has so much graphic violence and so much graphic sexual content!! It is a very, very, low, I mean low-budget movie but made the actor look and feel the part!! Rent the movie title "Ted Bundy" at your video store!! You will see what I mean!!!

I haven't seen that movie but I have seen Dahmer and I thought it really sucked.

They don't show that at all. It's really not that graphic they show a human head and him cutting open a guy's chest at the end but that's nothing compared to what I thought I was gonna see. it really doesnt give much info either and that's why I thought it sucked. I got more info out of watching American Justice.

I like Court TV but American Justice is good also!!

I miss Roger Cosack when he and Greta Van Sustren were neck and neck with each other during OJ and in CNN but you now hear and/or read about Greta because she is on Fox and Cosack you rarely read about lately except for occasional appearances on ESPN as the legal analyst.
