The reason why I'm asking is because I'm watching the DVD and it SEEMS to me that some of the episodes are edited. I could be wrong, but anybody else notice it. If you need an example, I would be happy to give it.

And how would you know if you didn;t watch the show during it's original run? Brian Damage 02-23-2004, 10:05 AM That's why I'm asking because I am not sure. In the episode, "Speak for Yourself Dwayne," The final scene opens up with Raj, Rerun and Dwayne sitting on a couch in Raj's living room. You hear Rerun tell Dwayne to cut it out, but we don't see what Dwayne did for Rerun to say that. Mine are all like 24-26 minutes each in length (Yes, SOLOMON, opening/ending credits COUNT in time length). Brian Damage 02-25-2004, 11:15 AM I have the Sony pictures version, so who knows? I just found that a little weird. TVFactFan 02-27-2004, 11:56 AM Originally posted by Brian Damage That's why I'm asking because I am not sure. Brian Damage 02-27-2004, 11:59 AM It could be the way it orginally aired on network TV. I'm not sure though. The DVD is still great though. I bought the DVD on the way home from work. I probably will watch on sunday. Finally, I prefer watching all shows in production order, it's the order they were filmed and the most logical way to watch shows. Of course there's always a few exceptions, such as Good Times 2nd season, I will watch Part 2 directly after Part 1, naturally. vashti1999 02-29-2004, 01:37 AM 25:09 The Birthday Present 24:37 The Runaway 24:25 When Daddy Comes Marching Home 24:58 My Three Tons 25:23 The Burger Queen 24:58 Speak for Yourself, Dwayne 24:43 Saturday's Hero I have the Time-Life version released last year. Assuming boechsner has the recently released retail version, I decided to compare the episode lengths on my set with his. They're pretty much the same, just a one or two second difference, which I think has more to do with dvd time display on different players than any missing footage. Here are episode lengths from my Time-Life version, disc 1 only: The Runaway 24:39 The Birthday Present 25:10 When Daddy Comes Marching Home 24:26 My Three Tons 24:59 Saturday's Hero 24:46 The Burger Queen 25:24 Speak for Yourself, Dwayne 25:00 Pavan 02-29-2004, 01:52 AM Originally posted by boechsner Well, I bought the 1st season earlier this week and the times for the episodes thus far are: 25:09 The Birthday Present 24:37 The Runaway 24:25 When Daddy Comes Marching Home 24:58 My Three Tons 25:23 The Burger Queen 24:58 Speak for Yourself, Dwayne 24:43 Saturday's Hero 25:12 The Sunday Father 24:56 Puppy Love 24:32 Shirley's Date 24:30 Christmas ...More to come NOTE: the episodes above are listed in production order, which is the order I'm watching them in I think Time Life has them in airdate order, so you must have the Columbia Tri-Star version. For some sitcoms I prefer airdate order. double-t 03-01-2004, 11:37 AM I have the TIME LIFE version of the DVD's and there are no cut or edited scenes in the episodes. Maybe the SONY version does, I can't attest to whether theirs has any or not, but that defeats the purpose of buying the DVDs in the first place. Poor marketing decision on SONYs part if this is true. Also, it hurts the sales for future season sets. I hope this isn't true. Brian Damage 03-01-2004, 11:39 AM Hey Solomon, did you see the scene that I was talking about yet? vashti1999 03-01-2004, 12:12 PM I doubt that there's any differences between the Time-Life discs and the Sony discs because I don't think they'd even care about "What's Happening" enough to make any changes, aside from the Time-Life logo. I don't see them being interested enough in WH to make any significant upgrade or downgrade to the set just because it's being released to retail. I'd think the same discs manufactured for Time-Life are the same as Sony, no difference episode content wise. Brian Damage 03-01-2004, 09:08 PM Speak for Yourself Dwayne TVFactFan 03-01-2004, 09:51 PM Originally posted by Brian Damage Speak for Yourself Dwayne It looks like we missed something in the very beginning because as soon as it starts, you see rerun and the girl just finished dancing and we missed the dancing between them. And i saw what u were yalking about at the end, rerun tells dwayne to watch it but we don't see what dwayne did for rerun to say that. I remember watching this in syndication and the final scene was when that girl that Raj and Dwayne liked told Rerun to "roll out". I think Rerun said "cut it out, Dwayne"that just to commence with the scene. Those last minute scenes were never featured in the syndication packages. Everytime I think the show is over, I get one more scene, that is not how it was during syndication. TVFactFan 03-02-2004, 01:51 AM Originally posted by ThomasE Trust me, dude. I was just curious because that beginning scene kind of confused me. |
