I agree with you, Mickee.

Desi will ALWAYS (repeat a million times) be my favorite character, so ya'll shouldn't try to go changing people's minds! It's really getting annoying. We all have different opinions so there's no use trying to fight it.

My all-time favorite comediennes and celebrities are Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball (haha I gave Desi top billing!). I like none of the current modern celebrities or movie stars these days. My favorite show above any other is I Love Lucy. My life revolves around them, other than God and family. Biggest fan in the world. And I am only 15 years old. You don't know how hard it is to be a teenager and be obssessed with a show like I Love Lucy. I get laughed at and made fun of. Because obviously it isn't 'cool'. And I can't even talk with die-hard ILL fans without getting criticized.

Okay... there's healthy TV watching, and then there's unhealthy TV watching...! Repeat after me "it's just a TV show..."

Seriously though, I know where you're coming from. I used to get mocked and even beaten up at school for the music I liked in preference to what was fashionable at the time. If I'd have told anybody I was a fan of ILL back then, though, they wouldn't have known what I was talking about, so I'd have escaped unscathed with that one! A girl at my school once saw me listening to my walkman, and asked what I was listening to. I said it was a Monty Python audio cassette, and she asked if they were a new rock band. Sigh...

It's good to know you're not swerved by the fashions of the time though. There's enough sheep in the world without risking becoming one yourself - and if they don't know good TV when they see it, screw them. Though not literally, obviously.

You know Mickey, even though you don't notice it, you sort of bash Lucy just a liiitttlllee bit. Instead of just stating who YOU like, you tend to compare, and Lucy always loses, in your book. That's why I think people get offended, not because of your different opinin, but because of you comparisons. Just an observation.

I don't think that's bashing - okay, I don't mean it to be bashing! I can't think of anybody I would call my favourite female comedian, but I do know that it wouldn't be Lucy. She's funny in ILL, but I've never really found her that good in anything else. I don't mean that to be bashing - it's just a statement of fact. Sorry Lucy, sorry Lucy fans. Desi's far from being my favourite comedy actor, too, so it cuts both ways!

Love issues in your past Michael? Because every time i start liking you, you make another provocative and obviously provoking statement in hopes of stirring debate, while i'm all for that, to discuss these things is why we're here after all, but you even admitted in that last one that you DO do these things. So for fear of getting banned i won't answer that last post. I will say that when you don't discuss Lucy, yours are always stimulating and very interesting posts. So let's go elsewhere, i agree that Mad About You evenly divided the laughs between it's major characters. Helen Hunt is an actress, not a comedienne, and both actors brought us a series that will forever be entertaining and REAL to me, but i never watched those DVD's, that show will not last the way I Love Lucy did. On Lucy, we had two REAL married people exaggerating married life and all it's aspects, Lucy's incredible talent as an actress and comedienne is just as brilliant as Helen's, but like Jess Oppenheimer said, Lucy could play a Queen or the lowest of the low and still make it believable, she was versitile and had these little bits in her comedy that you really have to watch closely to see them, actually i like the similarities in their styles, Helen and Lucy both became their characters and knew them better than anybody could imagine.

I have a question.. so.. what have you seen Lucy in so far besides I love Lucy? I suggest you see The Long Long Trailer, Yours Mine and Ours, Forever Darling, any of her movies Co-starring Bob Hope, and then get back to me .

Okay... I've seen (not counting the ones where she just had walk ons!):

Too Many Girls
Fancy Pants
The Facts Of Life
The Big Street
Stage Door
Mame
Panama Lady
Five Came Back
Look Who's Laughing
Lover Come Back
Valley Of The Sun
Sorrowful Jones

Had to consult with the IMDb for that, so I might have missed one or two out. But anyway. Sorry, nothing to write home about. What's so great? ILL makes me laugh a lot, and Lucy is wonderful in it. Really wonderful. Why can't you guys just accept that I don't much like her other work? I'm sorry if it offends you. I'm sure there's actors I really like that you don't. Am I going to get mad about it? Hardly.

No Splain, I am not being intentionally provocative, or trying to provoke debate. Neither am I trying to make people like or stop liking me. I just don't much like Lucy's other work. It makes me sad that you can't understand that.

I realize people like the show I Love Lucy because Hands Down yes It was a very good show, I am talking about people who aren't fans, just viewers, but I don't see why they would waste their time boggling with us fans, the ones who Love LUCY, and are more enthusiastic about Lucy and the show than teh average person, because see for the most part we as fans come on these sites to discuss ideas about the show and the star. So Ideally you should understand as a "viewer" of the show, coming on to a board with enthusiastic admirers, you would surely come across people who are very determined that we will stand behiond our Lucy when people talk down about her or seemingly criticize. That would be like me going onto a Ringo Starr board or Gene Krupa board and talking about what I really don't like about drumming.

Okay, I could make a joke there about Ringo and drumming, but I won't bother.

Lucille, I keep saying that I understand Lucy has a lot of fans. And I understand that a lot of them hang out here. What I object to is that nobody seems to be prepared to respect my opinion, yet expect me to respect theirs (which I do). I don't particularly like Lucy's other work. I find Desi, on the whole, funnier than Lucy, and I do like some of his outside ILL work. Why do I have to keep defending this opinion, and being flamed by people who don't share it?

You keep talking about loving Lucy, and that's fine. But this is not just a Lucy board. It is an I Love Lucy board. That's a show. The board is also about the three other stars, the writers, the episodes, the plot lines, the songs, and everything else that made up the show. You do not have to just be a Lucy fan to come here, and I refuse to pretend that I love her as much as you lot do just to be welcome here.

How the hell did all this rubbish get started, anyway? I've been a member here since this time last year, and have said all along that I prefer Desi. Why's everybody suddenly on my case this last month?

This whole thing is just getting ridiculous.

I want NO MORE posts about why do you like her and not him or vice versa. We'll never agree, so just drop it before someone gets really upset.
