That's very nice of your neighbor to take you places. I just want to have freedom to go where I want or need without having to wait on anybody else's schedule, like if/when I get a job and go to college, I want to drive there by myself, and not have to rely on anybody for transportation. Yes I'm very thankful for my neighbor helping me with weekly trips to the store. If I chose to drive I'm sure my life would be much different, for one thing it would make me more independent and I wouldn't have to rely on others for transportation. Looking back to my teen years, I probably should have followed through and get my license after I got my drivers permit. But I've never really felt comfortable driving a car, that's the problem. I'm sure you will be fine, you'll learn to drive and get your license, then you can travel where you need to go for school or work.

If you can, learn how to drive manual, that's how I first learned, how my sisters did, and how I taught my daughter. Learning to drive manual early on, I think helps build confidence in driving, also, even if you may never own a manual shift vehicle, it can come in handy knowing in the future.

Either way, good luck, we're the same out here, no close bus routes. More convenient being able to hop in a car anytime. My daughter loves being able to drive to her school instead of having someone drive her all that way, or rely on bus or train for coming home to visit. Also she can drive between work and college.

I offered to give him some money for gas but he said don't worry about it. I've done favors for him too, that's what good neighbors do, they help each other out.

I am actually on a bus right now! We have only one car, and we share who gets it. . If neither of the ladies I care for have to be taken to any appointments and stuff he takes the car , and I take the bus.If they do than the Hub takes the bus to work,

And I do lots of errands, shopping and stuff on public transportation. I don't mind at all.And I walk to alot of places too that are close enough on my days off!! I was raised on public transpertationback in Philly . My Mom didn't drive so I was on PT since I was a baby!!

And I'm afraid to drive in the rain and driving really long distances and on the freeway make me a little nervous! !

I hate driving in the rain too and I live in Oregon! haha The worst is when it's raining so hard that not even the wipers can keep up, I've actually had to pull to the side of the road until the rain lets up enough I can see.

I did quite a bit of walking when I lived in Chicago. I miss going for walks in my old neighborhood there. These days I don't do a lot of walking, except for the few times a day I take my dog for a walk in the back yard. I also do some walking once a week when I go grocery shopping, I walk around the store and put items in my shopping cart.

I guess it could be said that my New Year started off crappy, because when midnight arrived and the new year began, I was actually in the bathroom on the toilet having a healthy poop. I wanted to wait a few minutes so I could see the New York celebration on TV and see the ball drop, but ended up missing it because I couldn't hold it any longer and if I didn't head for the bathroom when I did, I might have pooped in my pants!! When I returned from the bathroom about 15 or 20 minutes after midnight, it was too late, the celebration and ball drop was over.
