Cows originated in the Near East and,thus had had little if any experience with frosts or snows in their homeland. Hence, even after thousands of years of being domesticated and herded to virtually every corner imaginable on six continents, they STILL need to have straw or hay dropped on top of any frozen precip- because they will NOT consider digging through ice, slush, frost , sleet or snow to get at the grass below no matter how hungry they may become!

DYK . . . that McDonald's " McLobster " is a summertime only sandwich and it's only available at McDonald's locations in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut. It's a lobster roll served in a hot dog bun with “lobster sauce” and shredded lettuce and was introduced in 1993.

Edwin Booth, the older brother of John Wilkes Booth, saved the life of Abraham Lincoln's son, Robert Todd Lincoln.

The incident happened on a train platform in New Jersey in 1864 or 1865, shortly before Lincoln's assassination. Robert Todd almost fell off the platform as the train was pulling into the station and Booth grabbed his collar and pulled him to safety.

Robert Todd knew the man since Booth was an accomplished stage actor, most notably for Hamlet, and he thanked him. Booth, however, did not know that he saved the President's son that day. After Lincoln's assassination, Robert Todd sent a letter to Edwin Booth thanking him for saving his life. It was said to have given them both much comfort after John Wilkes Booth's actions.

DYK . . . that Americans can begin ordering free at-home COVID-19 rapid tests starting Wednesday, Jan 19 2022. Orders for up to 4 tests per household can be placed using the website COVIDtests.gov. The administration will also set up a phone number so those without access to computers or high-speed internet can place orders.
The White House said tests will usually ship within seven to 12 days of ordering.
Also, Americans will be receiving a package of 3 N95 masks for free, details will be announced the week of 1/19/22.
