I don't really remember much about it, only that Don Rickles starred in it. I remember my Dad watched/ liked it. Maybe it appealed to a 40 something year old man more than it would to a teenage girl!

(Wow, now Dad is in his 80's and I'm in my 50's, DANG!)

Much like Sanford and Son this show was geared toward men lol

So yes no women would be interested in this show

I see what you are saying. My dad was the first one watching Sanford in my home. We heard him laughing so much and started watching with him. I love Sanford !! So it attracted a male audience at first , a show about a junkman and his son, but so darn funny, got a lot of female fans too!

I'm thinking Sharkey might be along the lines of McHales navy from the 60's? That's a funny show , but much more geared for guys!

Yeah Maude would appeal to more women I guess. We think she is funny, and wish we could be as tough as her and wear the pants in the family. Poor Walter, I sometimes felt sorry for him. But men might find her to be too abrasive and kind of b*tchy!

My favorite scene

Maude: " I missed Florida because she stood up to me and put me in my place"

Walter: "I wish I was black"

When my family was watching Maude I was watching too -- and found Adrienne Barbeau to be interesting to say the least. The girls in my classes at school sure hadn't "developed" in that way...! LOL I also liked the theme song, even though I hadn't made out the "bra burner" line in the lyrics.

I do remember watching Sharkey but not much about it. Rickles was extremely well-known and I think everyone knew what kind of act to expect.
