THE CHARMINGS

ABC is just stupid for canceling my favorite show, The Charmings, back in 1988. I thought that the episodes started getting better once Carol Huston (you know, Jerri Stone on the last season of Matlock) became Snow White, Caitlin O'Heaney sometimes was just annoying. But, of course, the Mirror and Lillian stole the show each time. I was hyped when I saw Judy Parfitt (played Lillian) on ER a few times, she plays the mother of the doctor that just recently had a baby/got married (forget her name). I really haven't seen the rest of the cast besides Paul Winfield.

My favorite episodes are Lillian Loses Her Powers, Charmings Go Plastic, Cindy's Back In Town, Yes Lillian There Is A Santa Claus (I love when i snows in the kitchen lol), and Trading Places.

TVLAND needs to get this and air it on the weekends or something!

Overkill ran too short.So yeah it was on 10 years but the final 2 were in syndication in which NOBODY watched.Comon' "Jay-Jay Loses his Mojo","Kevin on Top" and "GOT MILK?" were the funniest Television episodes that ever were.What other show can have a "Street Smart" Talent Agent (Ken Testa) think hes "No Longer" cool which drives a store owner (Amie Hoey) into making 70s night at her store.The first 4 seasons were ehh but the final 6 were great!!! Jay-Jay,Kevin,Donna,Randuke,Rose and Steve were just some of the greatest Recurring characters that a sitcom has ever seen.The Finale was only ok and the clip show was pointless (They weren't the best clips more like the silliest moments)but the other episodes were great.The first season was the worst from the series and Linda (Kate Mustang) annoyed me.Janice was ok.Rick was blah.Kay was pointless and Randuke was brillient.Rosie O' Donell was perfect as Rose and Tara Reid gave a grand performance as Donna.David Letterman (as Kevin) gave out great one liners and Steve Martin was perfect as Fast Talking Steve Bishop.I have to admit this was a cult hit but it didn't deserve Syndication

FISH. It ran from February of 1977 to June of 1978. It was a spin-off of Barney Miller.
Det. Phil Fish, (Abe Vigoda) starred in the show. Him and his wife Bernice were foster parents to five kids. It was a funny and interesting show. It should have stayed on the air.

Okay..this isn't a sitcom, but still it should've ran a bit longer. My choice would have to be "The Magnificent Seven". That show kicked ass when I caught the reruns on TNN, but now TNN has took it off. Here are the cast and characters to TM7

Anthony Starke....Ezra

But the show kicked ass and they took it off. Go figure..

A show that just got cancelled that should have gotten more time was the Lone Gunmen. This show was very creative, unique and most important, hysterical. You can't beat watching blind men playing football. Unfortunately the show fell into the black hole that is Fox Friday nights.

NBC should have never cancelled Jesse, Working, and Men Behaving Badley only after two sasons. They were funny shows.
The WB should have kept Smart Guy for at least two more seasons. So we could have seen T.J., Marcus, and Mo high school graduation and one year while there were in collage.

How about "Homefront", the 1991-93 ABC show about three soldiers returning to their Ohio hometown after World War II? It was ultimately a soap, but an extremely clever one that also had some stand-alone episodes. TV Land supposedly showed reruns at one time, but I don't get TV Land

This isnt a sitcom but I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned. I think Fox really messed up cancelling "Beyond Belief"...who's with me? That show was unbelievable. I know they brought it back for a while after cancelling it the first time..but they gave it less than a month and cancelled it again permanently..I can't uderstand decisions like these:

cancelling Family Guy..Fox's greatest error in the last ten years atleast.

cancelling Freaks and Geeks...indeed a quality show in many ways

and I know it was a little ahead of its time but if you remember the one week that John Leguizamo's "House of Buggin" was on..(and by a stroke of luck are hispanic) you probably remember how hilarious the the good skits were.

oh well. What do you guys think about these shows?

"The Ropers" (1979-1980) - It was in the Top 30 when it was cancled..... ABC was stupid!

"Three's a Crowd" (1984-1985)- They should have let it develop. Rumours say Vicky and Jack get married, and Vicky becomes a weathergirl. Diff'rent Strokes replaced it.

One of CBS' sins was to cancel Valerie Harper's series "City", which was a very good show with great acting and wit. It's too bad it didn't last.

Also, CBS cancelled the show "The Five Mrs. Buchanans" which deserved to last as long as "Golden Girls" and "Designing Women". While similar to these 2 shows in format (they were women's shows), the acting was phenomenal and the writing got better and better. I think had it been given a chance it would have become a solid hit. But no, it was aired on and off on Saturday nights. I only hope that sometime in the future the show turns up again on the LIFETIME cable channel, and maybe the cable channel would have new shows made. Anyone know how to set something like that in motion?

Lastly, CBS cancelled Jason Bateman's comedy "Some of My Best Friends". While another gay comedy may seem cliché at this point of time, the show was still decent. It still made me laugh, and the acting was impeccable. But no, CBS aired it on & off Wednesday nights. It was doomed from the start...

"The Associates" (ABC 1979-'80) had a great cast, plus the creative team from "Taxi".
It should have been given more time, the writing was great. Another was "Good Time Harry" (NBC 1980) Starring Ted Bessell, Marcia Strassman, Eugene Roche. Again a
great cast, smart writing. NBC buried it with
a rotten time slot (Saturdays at 10PM).

"Gloria" (1982-1983)- It was in the top 20! Just because ABP was cancelled doesn't mean they should cancel it too!
