Another one is The Yards. Maybe because it has Charlize Theron in it..I don't know why, but I really like it.

if I recall correctly, Diane Lane got a Best Actress nomination for it. I remember it getting promotion, but it was more or less a moderate hit, not a blockbuster

Yes, I was thrilled when she got the nomination. Diane Lane has been making movies since she was a young teen, and she's finally made the A-List of actresses.
I think Nicole Kidman did a superb job in The Hours, but I was rooting for Diane. She carried Unfaithful, while The Hours was a trilogy.
I know it's quality over quantity. Anthony Hopkins was onscreen for minutes (forget how many), and he nabbed the Oscar for The Silence of The Lambs.
I think Unfaithful should have been a bigger hit, along the lines of Jagged Edge or Fatal Attraction. I don't even think it broke 50 million at the Box Office.
