One asks another about work because that often says a lot about a person's interests. Often it does not. Follow-up questions might be: Do you enjoy your work? Do you like your employer?
If I were to ask a man: "What do you do for a living?" (your initial question in this thread) and he tells me that he is a scriptwriter, then that tells me that he is a creative person. If I then ask him if there might be a chance that I have seen something that he may have written, that simply means that I am curious as to whether or not I have seen something that he has written. You, I am guessing, would automatically assume that I am wanting to know whether or not he is SUCCESSFUL and RICH. Nope. I simply want to know if I like his work. If he tells me that he writes more obscure works for stage, rather than a TV series, then I wouldn't know his work. If he told me that he writes for "24" then I would know his work. Whether or not I am employed has no impact on wanting to know more about the person that is the man. |

I think I do sort of understand what you're saying SOLOMON. If you're saying that a woman shouldnt have a man to provide for her and that women should be independent, I am with you on that.....like, "homemakers" should get a job and not try to find a guy to give her everything. If that's not what you're saying then Im not sure what you're saying......

Asking what one does for a living is just normal conversation - what's wrong with it???Solomon, you seem so paranoid about women, please seek help, before it's too late.

Well, now that SOLOMON is an expert on what I can say on dates, I better start taking notes.
![]() I dont agree with what you are thinking here. Small talk...thats it. God forbid someone make conversation. |
