Never mind the actress, how about the lines she had to say. Lucy had no class? Well, she didn't frequent whorehouses like her son did, she wasn't an alcoholic or a gambler who couldn't keep any money, and was always talked about in the papers as if HE had no class. Woops, just realized that Mickey's not going to like this one, sorry Mickey, neither one of them was a picnic, i'm angry at the mother not the son, who i always admired for being a good father, a charitable guy and a good business man! That's the key, isn't it? There are two sides to everyone!

I didn't think the movie was too bad. I thought the actor who played Fred looked a little like Bill Frawley. The sitcom episodes were out of order. I did get a kick of seeing the apartment in color. Seeing it in black and white and then a bright color shot seems so new. I did tend to agree they could have greyed desi's hair a bit toward the end. I like the actors playing the writers, madelyn and bob. I didn't know Lucye was close to Carole Lombard. The guy playing Clark Gable didn't look much like Clark
althought I thought the actress playing Carole looked pretty good. There were a lot of blonds in the 1930' to 1940's. I'd give the show a B |

You can see the characters in color on the CBS videos and the apartment in color on the Christmas Special, but make sure it's the colorized version, some people taped it off the air when it aired in '91!

Was the Christmas episode the only one taped in color? |

I don't get that, they were all TAPED in COLOR, but aired in black and white, the Christmas show was COLORIZED at one point and aired in color, with some parts still in black and white. Have i confused you enough?

Aaaahh! I really did not like that movie! An inaccuracy that I saw was that Lucy called her mother mama but in reality she called her DeDe. I don't know why but that just bugged me. The movie also made her look like a sex-crazed teenager in her early years. Oh, and could someone clear these few things up for me?? There were a couple of things that I saw in the movie that I did not know and believe me I know more than most people about Lucille Ball's life. Okay here they are:
1) Lucy working at a carnival with her Uncle (I think they said it was her Uncle) 2) Desi buying a yacht, and tearing up their new house 3) Lucy having a black maid I know that you cannot believe everything that they say. Even in some Lucille Ball biography books they tell things that are not true. I read once that Lucy once worked as a topless model ~ and I know for a fact that wasn't true because on her daughter's (Lucie's) website someone asked about that. I thought that the actor playing Desi was too young and his face was too thin. Desi Arnaz had a stronger chin. But he did sound a lot like Desi. The actress playing Lucille was okay but she bugged me a little bit. Most of the movie was just a repeat of what I already knew ~ although there were a lot more inaccuracies that I don't want to bore you with right now. Also, they should have done Lucille's full life until she died. They never even mentioned why Lucille did not have a father. (He died when she was 4) If they were just going to show that period of Lucille's life they left out a lot of things. Oooh and one more thing, I saw the set of I Love Lucy (in color obviously) at the Mall of America during their fiftieth anniversary tour. They even had the Hollywood set. Hehe, I have pictures of it. |

I liked the movie. I also liked seeing the apartment in color. They should've shown clips from the original series when they were going into black & white. I thought the actor who played Desi was pretty good. I agree that he didn't look like Desi, but sounded like him. |
