They will pretty much have to be the syndicated cuts.

MeTV does use commercial DVD's at times (notably Brady Bunch) (sped up and/or edited), but they would run into trouble with Mama. I think they'd be forced to use the syndication copies. Kind of too bad, too--I remember when TBS showed them, the prints are kind of washed out color.

That's too bad, sorry to hear of the drawbacks. Still it's great that MeTV is adding this to their lineup -- I think it fits in with their programming very well.

I think the only prints for airing are the syndicated ones since those are the ones that have been used since the days the show was airing on TBS, ION and CMT.

If by some chance they use the original episodes I highly doubt that any music will be cut since the music issues on the DVD sets were Time Life's issue and not with the episodes themselves.

I personally will look forward to seeing it show up on TV just so I can record the episodes that are missing the music on the DVD sets.

I have the old set from TBS airings as well but the episode with Aunt Gert goes messy when they sing Ain't Misbehavin and I have always wanted a clear copy of that song.

My local station likes to pre-empt Me-TV in my area but I hope they leave Mama's Family alone like they leave Bounce alone during the 90s classics that air during the prime time hours.

I had no idea that the DVD set had switched the music. That really stinks.

With some showings of Brady Bunch, you can easily tell they're using commercial DVD. Sometimes they will (accidentally) leave The Brady Bunch In Color slide in there, at the beginning, which is part of the first two seasons DVD set. They are using the syndication episodes of Gomer Pyle, though. There are a lot of music cuts on the commercial DVDs of that, and the music is intact on MeTV.

I like the later seasons of Mama's family with Bubba, Naomi and Iola a lot better than early on with Buzz and Sonja. I don't think they added too much to the show!! Bubba was a much more fun, cooler young person character! And Naomi and Iola really added a lot to the show!

I saw one of the episodes set to appear on Me-TV's programming feed today and took note of it appearing as if it had been made on film instead of videotape.

Me too! I'm counting the days to Bubba and Iola. There are a few early episodes I like though.

The early episode where the gang goes to Ellen's club is LOL.

Naomi really added more in the Buzz/Sonja era than the Iola/Bubba years. She was so feisty and really had zest. I still love her in the I/B years, but she mellowed and "settled" more into her station in the family there.

I love things about both versions of the show. With Fran and Ellen and Eunice, you really had the feel of a large, extended family where everyone was within driving distance in Raytown. And with the cut footage now reinstated---about 2 minutes or so each---they really have more of a "one-act play" feel than they did in syndication, with even more attention to character and interaction. Thank goodness Time Life/Star Vista got their hands on this series!

I agree, but it's too bad about the music problems. I haven't watched the mayor episodes yet, but I really don't want to see those without "Harper Days Are Here Again". Somehow cutting that would spoil the whole program.

Wow!! You know what? I was thinking Naomi came in at the same time as Iola and Bubba!!! I always liked this show, but it's been a lot of years since I saw it and I don't remember all of it!! But cool, glad Naomi is there already! I missed yesterday's eps. but I'm watching for sure tonight/today!

I enjoyed the early seasons because Ellen and Eunice were on it.
