No, they won't give you a job because you need it or because you're nice, they will give you a job because you would be an asset to their company. However, if you don't pick up the phone, the offer for an interview or whatever could very well be passed along to someone else.

The call was from OfficeTeam and I thought they were calling me for a INTERNAL position but the call was for a position that was External and that is not want I need right now. The woman that called me on the phone I told her that I'm interested in being apart of the Office Team staff not a person who comes to Officeteam for Employment Assistance.

And when she was interviewing me over the phone and asked-"so from all the positions you had which one was your favorite? So I thought it was for a Officeteam position and I decline to come in and be interviewd on Monday. She did tell me to call back if I change my mind since she was impressed with my resume.

Not exactly sure if you read what you type, mean it, or just says things to get a response.

If your seriously looking for a job, you make it your business to have a suit neatly pressed, hanging on the door with a white shirt and tie, ready to hit the door, to see corporate America at a moments notice. If they call at 4.00, you can say,"sure I can see you first thing in the morning" What your saying is " If someone wants to see me, then I'll get a haircut and that could take a day or two," otherwise I don't get a haircut. And you still say you want to work?

Heck, I'd go in and get interviewed! If you're unemployed, you need any job you can get!! Besides, the lady was impressed with your resume - she might even be impressed enough with your interview that, if a position DID open up inside Officeteam you'd be one of the first she'd think of. GO FOR IT!

Do you need a job or not?

In November of '99, I applied for Christmas help with 'Toys R Us'.

One night, I was in my room so I didn't hear the phone ring, my mom was in the shower so the answering machine had picked it up.

So after we played the machine, I called back and misspoke the lady's name. I asked for Pam and the gentleman on the phone asked her name then I told him that she had left me a message. Then he realized it was Pam and that she had left for the evening and I could call back the next day. Which I did and got the job for the Christmas holidays.

Then in May of 2000, I applied for Old Navy and had an interview even though it was a group interveiw and got the job and still there.

That being said, I did have some help as to preparing for getting a job from a special ed department with the college that helps people get jobs.

Sol, this is being friendly, but all I'm hearing is excuses.....seems you are looking for obstacles to block you, rather than the opportunity to jump the hurdles to success.

BTW, I have missed the thread, but did you quit your other job before having a new one??
