Wasnt she the singer of The Gits? Its been a long time since ive seen that one, what was the update.

Also, whoever said that Cincinnati news personality Bob Braun was on a segment, does anyone know about that? Being from Cincy, that would be really funny to see!

Jesus Mezquia was arrested and charged with the murder in 2003, ten years after the crime. He was linked to the case through DNA. As a result, he was convicted of the murder and sentenced to 36 years in prison.

Since there was no known connection between Mia Zapata and Jesus Mezquia prior to the crime, Mia's murder was most likely a random act of violence. The consensus is that Mezquia was looking for a victim, and Mia Zapata just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Yes, yes, I was a NKOTB fan. A BIG one. I've been known to sing a Karaoke version of "Hangin' Tough" when I've had a few too many...

Wow, sounds like a segment I missed!!
CRicci, do you know the year when this aired??
...and as for losing respect, no worries. My old gfriend was a NK fan too (she liked to imitate their dance moves...uuggghh!) and I liked 2 songs from the Back Street Boys, so I better keep my mouth shut. "I want it that way"

"Tell me why.... ain't nothing but a heartache... TELL ME WHY!"

Hee hee hee. That's awesome, Chris. As for the year of the Kari Lynn Nixon update, I'm sure that someone else can give you the exact date of the airing, but I would guess-timate that it was probably between 1989 and 1991, aka UM's "prime" years.

Yea, that buddy was Henry Rollins - he's famous too

Holmes Osborne (Donnie Darko, That thing you do!) was in a UM episode in the 80's. I always forget the names involved in the case but it involved a student who was dating another student at a university and eventually she dumped him and he got expelled from school and then he murdered her. Holmes Osborne played one of the professors, I belive but he is not credited on IMDB for some reason. I know it is him in the segment though, as he has a very distinctive look about him. As for the case, I am not sure if the guy was ever caught.

Also, another name no one here has mentioned is author James Ellroy (L.A. Confidential, The Black Dahlia). His mother was murdered by his father in front of him when he was a child and UM used that story to start off a similar unsolved story, IIRC. Ellroy was briefly interviewed in the segment. However, IMDB doesn't list UM in his credits on his page there.

The guy that played Tom Johnson (the man who killed a woman for the 30k computer system) was Stephen "The Fight Professor" Quadros.
He was the commentator for PRIDE fighting championships and has acted in minor action movies.

I've got a few more!

John Diehl played the prosecutor in the Darlie Routier Segment. If you're in your 30's you might remember him from Miami Vice or the movie Madhouse.

Scott Lawrence played Adam Hecht's homeless friend "Tony" (The guy that tries to kiss Adam's Mom) A photo of his backside is on the UM case page, lol. He's had a bunch of Television appearances, but is probably best known as Commander Turner on JAG for the final 3-4 seasons.

Ok this one is a bit of a stretch, but there's one more celeb in the UM segment on Harold Edward Bell. After Bell kills Larry Dickens (played by MM) he's chased by the police. The motorcycle cop that dumps his bike to avoid getting shot by Bell is stuntman Eric Norris, son of Chuck Norris.

Stephanie Weir and Daniel Dae Kim were both in UM segments. Weir was in the one about the transient (with a killer stache) who murdered an elderly man and tried selling his truck and was staying in a type of shanty town (Weir played one of the residents). I can't remember the name though.

I just saw one episode online about the Lt. Chad Langford" case in Alabama and one of the actors playing a fellow Army man who came to Lanford's aid, looked like a very young David Koechner. He played Champ Kind on "Anchoman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy". However he wasn't credited on IMDb, but not all small roles are.

Am I the only one who thought the actress in the Mia Zapata case portraying her looks kind of like Winona Ryder around that era?

Yeah we discussed this case a while back. What is more likely is that she jumped on back of her mothers car, and after a few feet she fell hit her head, and well she died. There was a-lot of evidence that this was the case, one of them was her injuries. If it was a hit and run she would of had signgifcantly more body injuries.
Anther obvious point is, that she did not take the walking route home that she did all the time. She took the path home her mothers drives. Its a sad case, but she was not sexually abused, she did not have injuries that correspond to a hit and run, no one saw a car speeding through the 'hood. A sad case all around. But like always, whenever a cute white little girl, is killed in an upper middle class sub division, it gets national media attention.
