Public High School, Public University. Public schools in Iowa are good, so why would I pay money to go to HS? No way could I do the private thing...too restrictive. And private universities are too expensive...and too small. I liked going to a large college.

I went to a Catholic school from grades 1 - 8 , and I'm glad I had the opportunity to. We didn't have to wear uniforms, and the Nuns were some of the nicest people I had to deal with. Which is why I don't understand when they always portray Catholic School Nuns as being mean disciplinarians rapping kids on the knuckles with rulers.
Now going to public high school; that was culture shock! I went from nice teachers who really tried to teach you something, to teachers who were rude and couldn't really care less if they taught you anything. Not all my high school teachers were like that, but a lot were.

My parents say the schools they went to was like that...Keep in mind, this was the 1960's (my dad started at his Catholic school in 1960, and my mom in 1963), when the schools here were still run by nuns...They say things were a lot more strict then, and at my mom's school, if you did something wrong, the nuns made you kneel on the floor with a pencil under your knees.

My sibs went to the same school my mom went to (my brother started there in '85 and my sis in '87), and by that point, the school was no longer run by nuns and wasn't as strict as they had been back in the 60's, but my sibs both left in 1991, before they both reached 6th grade, because they just didn't like it there. They liked public school so much better after that.

Hey, you get what you get...I'm glad to hear your experiences with Catholic school was great

I went to a Catholic school from preschool to 8th grade. I hated it. They criticized you about every little thing you did wrong. I felt like they held grudges for a long time..whereas now that I'm in a public school, teachers don't stay mad for very long. Probably the only thing that kept me sane in that horrible school was my friends. I go to a public high school now and its about 100,000,000,000,000,000 times better. It's a lot easier too. I know high school is supposed to be harder than middle school...but not for me....

Nope, I've always went to public schools. We do have a private Catholic school here...but we just got a brand new public highschool and tons of people left the Catholic school to go to it. The Catholic school tries soo hard to get kids to go there. I got tons of letters in the mail in the beginning of the year. But I wouldn't want to go to a private school...there's more kids in the public school and I like that better because I'm not noticed as easily.

Yeah, that's definitely a disadvantage of private schools.

I've attended a Catholic school since I was in kindergarten, I'm a Senior now. I guess it's ok. I go to an all girl private high school.

I went to Public School.

There is a private Jewish Highschool down the street from where I live. There are a lot of private religious schools in this city-- mostly Catholic, Jewish and Muslim.
