Of more recent songs, I like Happy Xmas by John Lennon, A Great Big Sled by The Killers and Auld Lang Syne by James Taylor.
Of older classics, I like Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas by Judy Garland and O Come, All Ye Faithful (Adeste Fideles). |

As soon as October and Halloween were over and November was just beginning it soon meant that Thanksgiving was on the way and as soon as Thanksgiving had arrived people knew that Thanksgiving was the official start of the holiday season and for radio stations they knew that as November begins it was time to start playing Christmas songs through November and December until Christmas was over and even kept it till New Year's Eve and once New Year's Day hit the radio stations would return to the pop music format. But when you get the general picture just like the TV stations start promoting Christmas commercials as soon as November begins the same thing happens with radio stations with Christmas music. But if you look at the radio stations that play Christmas music now you never hear any new Christmas songs that are huge and the only Christmas songs that get overplayed are either Last Christmas by Wham It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year by Andy Williams Blue Christmas by Elvis Presley and Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas Is You and Deck The Halls by Mannheim Steamroller and to me these seem to be the popular Christmas songs on radio. And I think radio stations should update their Christmas music format by including Christmas songs that haven't been heard in a while like The Holly And The Ivy by Roger Whittaker and The Ramsey Lewis Trio's fabulous version of Sleigh Ride and how about Gloria Estefan's version of Silent Night and Buck Owens hit Santa Looked A Lot Like Daddy?. If the radio stations are beginning Christmas music early why don't they start playing more Christmas songs rather than the same popular ones? I mean Andy Williams has other Christmas songs besides Happy Holiday and It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year and more Elvis Presley Christmas songs should be played too on the radio as well

Even supermarkets and other stores have begun playing Christmas music in October too. For example Kmart began playing Christmas music after Halloween and I noticed it when my mom and I would shop at Kmart every year and my mom asked me "Hawkee why is Kmart playing Christmas music after Halloween?" and I replied "I don't know" but Macy's begins Christmas music after Thanksgiving and ends it New Year's Day. But if radio stations were smart they would play some Christmas songs that haven't been heard in a while instead of songs like Last Christmas and All I Want For Christmas Is You and Feliz Navidad and add some oldies like The Drifters superb version of White Christmas and The Supremes Children's Christmas Song or Roger Whittaker's wonderful song Darcy The Dragon. But I do wish the country music stations would do all country Christmas songs where you could hear classics from Gene Autry and Brenda Lee and Buck Owens and it would be so wonderful
