Family Ties on TV Land? That is not good. Isn't TV Land just for original classic tv hits, you shows from the 50's, 60's, and 70's? Wasn't Family Ties labeled as a classic modern tv hit?

Great, before we know TV Land is just going to be another station catering to "modern classic tv hits".

Wouldn't be surprised if soon we see Cosby Show or Full House over there...

Scary.

I agree with you about TCS, it seems it will never die. Full House is nearly as bad. The point was that FT seems too new for TV Land.

That is not happening. They have not been on Nick@Nite long enough.

The only reason "Family Ties" is being added is because of TV Land & Nick@Nite's new "Family Table" campaign. The promos started airing last Thursday, Thanksgiving Day. I'm sure you'll see them during the 48-hour event this weekend. So Family Ties' regular run starting in January could be for a limited time. Possibly only until April or less, when Green Acres comes. So record every episode. Nick@Nite was already stacked with family sitcoms like Full House and Cosby Show.

Info on the campaign:
TV Land, television's home to the best programming from the past 50 years, and Nick at Nite, the home of modern classic sitcoms, have unveiled a new pro-social initiative entitled TV Land & Nick and Nite's Family Table -- Share More Than Meals that will make its on-air debut on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2003. The announcement was made today by Larry W. Jones, Executive Vice President and General Manager, TV Land and Nick at Nite.

The two networks have committed over $6 million in on-air promotion over the next year for the initiative, which TV Land and Nick at Nite will support in a variety of ways. The on-air campaign will launch with five public service announcements (PSAs) debuting on Thanksgiving Day and will continue airing daily on both networks. The first round of PSA's, include three spots starring television veteran Malcolm-Jamal Warner of The Cosby Show__ -- currently seen on Nick at Nite -- which address the television tradition of family mealtimes and their relevance to viewers' lives today. The spots will run through early 2004 and be refreshed periodically.

Ahh. That makes sense. Doesn't explain All in the Family (well, sort of does), but I think AITF was long overdue for the move back to TV Land.

The only thing I can think of is that they are moving it to TV Land because they might add another family show or two (maybe Who's the Boss?, but I doubt it)? Or they'll just air All in the Family on both channels, like they used to.

Yeah. After all AITF is about family, not a typical N@N family, lol, but still family. Too bad Three's Company isn't making the move to TV Land. Sigh. I'm sure it will eventually. Who knows why they make these decisions, lol. I like Family Ties so I'm not really complaining about that, and in fact looking forward to it coming.

Pavanbadal has a point here. With many families having busy schedules, they don't have much time together anymore. What TV Land and N@N are doing is a good thing, in trying to help get families to share more than just dinner at Thanksgiving. In the case of Family Ties, the Keatons were a realistic family. The parents were liberals, and the children were conservatives. I can relate to it, because my parents are liberals, whereas my brother and I have become conservatives. Speaking of FT, I used to have every eppie, but I gave it to my brother, because he's a business major like Alex. (Michael J. Fox) Now that it's coming to TVLand, I'll have a chance to get my own copies.

Family Ties coming to TVLand, even for a short time, is a great thing. I mean, it hasn't been on the air for months (And even before then, it was on at 5am for what, about 2 years?) It was treated horribly. And it's on TVLand Canada, so why not TVLand USA? I also like the fact that AITF is coming back to TVLand. It's been over at N@N for way too long, and at a really bad timeslot. It didn't even fit the programming genre anymore. Now all we need is Three's Company to move on over to TVLand and we're all set!

Actually, I don't think AITF is coming to TV Land, I think it just airs because of the marathon and the special Christmas episodes. I think AITF will stay on N@N.

I've already stated that it is coming to TV Land in January.

Whoops, I missed that part! Thanks Pav! I think it fits better on TV Land, it's destined to get a better slot that way.
