frankly I hope the focus will not be on Alan Brady during the reunion special. While there were certainly some shows during the Van Dyke Show run which featured Alan by and large he was not a regular cast member. Obviously having him as a catalyst for the cast to gather together again such as writing a reunion show would be a good way to proceed, but hopefully Alan Brady will not dominate the show itself.

Hi B&W fan -
I completely agree with you! I'd seen the ads and thought the show looked strange, then I tuned in to watch only a few minutes of it and I knew it was strange! I'm not surprised that it contained the stuff mentioned here, because I didn't care at all for the part I watched, but I AM surprised that Carl Reiner would resort to such. There's no reason for it. There's so much junk on tv, I think TVL should be a totally "offensive-free zone" - don't you?! As for the reunion, I am absolutely against it. I don't care for sequels to movies and I think tv reunions are a big mistake. They just never work. As another posted stated, I'd prefer to remember Rob and Laura Petrie as they were in the sixties . . . just as I'd prefer to remember Mary and Rhoda, the Cleavers, the gang in Mayberry, etc. in their times. Me, I'm a realist, but I also want to believe in those good old days of slower times and kinder people. There's something kind of sad about the reunions and I really feel they diminish the originals. So, here's to remembering our tv favorites as they were . . . |

I Missed it and I'm glad I did after reading about it. I'm also against the DVD show reunion. I'm afraid they'll goof it up too. When a show's been off the air for 37 years they ought to let it be. I also didn't watch the Mary and Rhoda reunion either.

I'm so relieved to see these posts! Since I haven't visited this site in a few days, I was a little hesitant to check out other people's opinions of The Alan Brady Show animated series. I was afraid everyone was going to rave about it and I'd come to the conclusion that I must have been in a bad mood when I saw this POS. What a waste of...EVERYTHING! As Buddy Sorrell once said, "I haven't heard laughs like this since the St. Valentine's Day massacre."

BTW, has anyone seen/heard any reviews of TABS (in, say, "TV Guide")? |
