Question

I can't wait for this in March. I hope Nick at Nite does more 80's shows, that's my most favorite era for tv shows. But I just have one question why did they take off The Wonder Years that's an 80's show? And if that's where there heading to then they should of took off Gilligan's Island or something like that, I just can't stand that show.

I think N@N is seeing that there is a huge demand for 80's sitcoms. I agree with TJ that they should get big ratings for those six days.

I wonder if all of our e-mails regarding TFOL helped encourage them to show more 80s sitcoms?? Hmmmm, probably not but just a thought

This is so cool! I mean, just last month we were all discussing the shows we feel Nick At Nite should add to their lineup, and most of the ones I mentioned are part of this "Revenge of the '80s" deal. "Silver Spoons," "Different Strokes," and "ALF"!!! YIPEE! I'm sure they'll add some of the shows to their lineup . . . eventually.

I kinda wish that Nickelodeon would get rid of their kids programing, but that is one of their major sources of money, so I don't see them getting rid of it. It would be nice, however, if Nick-at-Nite could at least keep the 8:30 PM timeslot. I may be the only one, but I find it annoying when the time slot goes back and forth between the two networks.

Anyway, due to the recent success of FOL, I think that the "Revenge of the 80's" will be one of the biggest ratings grabbers of the year. If that is the case, I wouldn't be at all surprised if N@N adds some of these shows to their schedule. Unfortunately, there are too many good TV shows to fit into the schedule. There are three possibilities that I can think of to fix this:

1) N@N stops repeating the episodes in the early morning that were shown during the night, and show FOL and TC once. This would mean they would show each show once and only once per night. Unfortunately, that would be inconvenient for fans of shows that are only shown at early hours (or late hours, depending how you look at it).

2) N@N adjusts their schedule so the shows are shown every other night. In other words a set of show will be shown Sun, Tue, and Thur while another set will be shown Mon, Wed, and Fri. Then Saturday could be used for theme nights. Unfortunately, that wouldn't work well without adjusting Nicks friday night schedule, which I don't like either. Kids that would be watching these shows shouldn't be up til 10 PM anyway.

3) TVLAND will show only hour long shows (dramas, westerns, medical, cop, etc.) and the sitcoms on TVLAND and the current sitcoms on N@N (except for FOL and TC) would be moved to a new network that would exclusively show sitcoms. Then N@N could be filled with new shows, some of which were mentioned above. This would increase the variety of N@N while keeping the other shows around for us to watch.

Personally, I like the third idea. Actually, that is somewhat similar to what they are doing with Wonder Years, WKRP, Taxi, and Newhart by moving them to TNN. That could mean that TNN would start picking up N@N's old shows.

No matter what they do, I would like to see new shows on N@N while still being able to see the shows that they currently have. Maybe I'm just greedy

Question

Thanks for all the info. I can't wait until March to see some of the shows that haven't been on in quite some time. I will be ready to watch some Silver Spoons of course. I hope they show some old and some new. By the way I know N@N is Nick at Nite and I know what TV land is, but what is TNN. I know TNN as The Nashville Network. Sorry, just need informed.

TNN used to call themselves The Nashville Network when they had country programming. As they switched focus, they now call themselves The National Network. They are owned by Viacom which owns Nick at Nite and TV Land also. That's why you saw WKRP in Cincinnati, Newhart, The Wonder Years, and Taxi (all former Nick at Nite shows) move to TNN. I think a similar thing could happen if Nick at Nite decides to add Silver Spoons or Diff'rent Strokes..

bigtime silver spoons fan, where are your posts on the Silver Spoons board? I've never seen you post there before..but I don't know deny that you are a big fan..

Ok out of the 6 shows on Revenge of the '80s Week...I think Silver Spoons and Diff'rent Strokes will stay on Nick at Nite after that week, because they dropped Wonder Years and Taxi so they can fit 2 more, maybe even 3.

I think TV Land will show ALF, if Odyssey still has it after they will probably show half/half each.

TNN would show 227 and Square Pegs, Wonder Years will be leaving TNN before September anyway, Newhart might be leaving TNN soon since the Viacom contract is expected to be up this April for Newhart...

N@N After Revenge of the 80s, this would be VERY nice:
8:30PM Silver Spoons
9PM Diff'rent Strokes
9:30PM Facts of Life
10PM Three's Company
10:30PM Brady Bunch (If I know N@N, I think they will continute to show TC for an hour, which is great!)
11PM All in the Family
11:30PM Jeffersons

Ok I just realized Square Pegs only had 20 episodes! So maybe TVLand will keep it in it's library dipping, and ALF will be on TNN...lol I can't wait what happens, this is exciting!

I'm excited about ALF because that is the one show I did watch in its orginal run, but I really can't remember any of the episodes. On another note, I don't want to see this special week completely rearrange N@N programming which I doubt will happen. I think it would be better for TVLand or TNN to pick up these shows. As much as people on this board dislike Gilligan's Island it only started on N@N last summer and has its fan base too. It will be a good week of tv viewing though!!

Natalie (thinking): I am going to nail her mouth to the floor. I can picture it now there'd be a spike through her tongue, but the lips would still be moving. She'd just keep whining on and on about how she'd never do that to me because she's my best friend. And if it made me feel guilty about nailing her mouth to the floor than she's glad I did it and......

I thought it was just a CD with all those show's theme songs on it. Guess I'm wrong. If they really are coming on Nick-at-Nite, I can't wait.

Yeah I originally thought it was a cd as well but looking at the commercial I realized that it looked more like a record and a tape cassette. I think the commercial was just trying to use images that make you think "1980's".

Well I saw the commercial last night too and thought that it was a CD with the different shows. I was going to post a message about it. But can someone confirm that this is true? Time really does fly I remember in the early 90's the 80's seemed so recent but now that we're in a new millenium the 80's seem to have a liitle age.
