I told you, we're just funnin here, i LOVE Desi so much more than Lucy, and if you believe that, i have some swamp land to sell you in Florida! Seriously Maggie, if i had been friends with them, i would not have been happy with a blunt person like Lucy, i would much have preferred a loving caring person like Desi. I have to go now, i'm working on getting bush re-elected.

Splain, behave yourself. There'll be no talk like "getting Bush re-elected" on a family site, thankyou very much. Very very rude words...

Babalucy, for years I've never understood the fascination with Lucy, at the expense of Desi. I suppose it's because she was a woman in a man's world, and was the first woman to do so much of what she did. Well sorry everybody, but regular visitors here know that I think Desi is much funnier! And plays a nicer character in ILL. And is a better drummer. And giggles more in the show when he shouldn't.

If Lucy deserves respect (and she does, a hell of a lot of it) for being a woman in a man's world back then, Desi deserves the same amount of respect for being a Latino in a world where it's still hard to get by.

And did I mention that he was funnier than Lucy?

I agree all the way Mickey Richardson! (haha, what Lucy's mother called Ricky on ILL, ya know? lol)
Desi and Lucy should have equal respect..

and I do think Desi is funnier! Me and my brother like him the best! My mom likes *coughs* Ethel the best! And my dad..dunno? lol
It's just so funny to see how Desi reacts to situations, just watching his face is hilarious! He was a genius with comedy. And Lucy...she was great when she was given something to do..stomping grapes, candy factory..and I love her face when she first tasted Vitameatavegimin...
I can't explain it, but I still will always love Desi the best. *shrugs*

Thank God the television Academy never agreed with you two! LOL! I always did like his answer to that though, he said he would only gripe if they had a BEST CONGA PLAYER catagory and he didn't win that!

A lot of us are sick of a lot of things, but we try to talk it out constructively, not with attacks. If you have a point to make, make it, but lines like, What am I going to do with people like you? don't cut it with me.

So take a deep breath, and relax. It's not life and death.

My thoughts are this...without having to repeat or contradict my previous thoughts in the LUCY/LUCIE thread.

I do admire his creativity and talent and the fact he pioneered television.

I don't beleive there was ever be another Love as temultuous and intense as theirs.

Lucy LOVED Desi.....would do anything for him.

I don't praise him as a person...I don't think you can cover up for the fact he did what he did to Lucy. his wmanizing and boozing hurt Lucy...and I have read his book and he makes it clear in saying he loved her...But when you Love someone like he says he loves her....you don't go out and purposely do those things knowing how much it hurts that person. There are NO excuses for that. He says it is his culture and I see so many of the Desilu people he worked with accept that. When he came to America and became naturalized, which was actually later on....he became American, which means you take on American cultures. (taken aside the fact that today everybody and there cousin booze and browse we are talking about over 60 some years ago) he says in his culture, a man should have as many women as he has hairs on his head. Some one explain this....when you have Lucy, who his the most wonderful and most perfectly beutiful woman in your life, and you have everything with her why would you look elsewhere? I don't think at that time there was a woman as beautiful as Lucy. The women he was with, had nothing on the beauty Lucy had. I think in having to booze and browse, while he had everything in the most wonderful treasure in the world at home......I would have to say desi was in severe need of a "Feeseekeyatrist".

I also do not think Desi should be an honerary citizen of Jamestown and Cleoron New York. But we all know why that is now don't we???

I'm sure Desi's boozing and "browsing" as the poster above put it were primary factors in the breakdown of the Lucy-Desi Relationship, after all we all know that Lucy was not perfect (I am not going to go any further with this as I know where LUCILLEBALL is going to go with it...I am a bit sick of it). Desi is honoured in Jamestown and Celoron because he and Lucy were two groups of people that will forever be linked. He was the love of Lucy's life, the person who Lucy brought back to Jamestown for Hunt's funeral and the premiere of Forever Darling. There is no reason why Desi should not be honored in this way. Besides, if Lucy and Desi did not have each other it is not likely that there would be so many people talking about Lucille Ball today.

Nope. Sorry. When you go to live in a country you don't have to take on their cultures. Going off topic now, granted, but... no. For starters what's American culture? There are hundreds of them, and rightly so, since your ancestors come from all over the world. It's the same in the UK. When people come here from other countries and settle we don't demand that they all become Christian by religion, and speak nothing but English, and drop the traditions of their religions and culture!

Anyway... moving swiftly on...

Yes Splain, I knew exactly what you were saying when you mentioned Bush's election campaign! I just can't seem to resist the chance to be very rude about him.

*clears throat* I can say whatever I want, however I want it on this board..ya'll don't own it! Ya'll just think I'm a stupid 'newbie' ruining the boards..
This is just ya'll's opinion about Desi! There are lots more ILL fans than here ya know, and I know lots more people who love Desi the best..so don't speak for everyone!

Lucy-Desi lover 4ever!! That's the way it should be for ILL fans. If you just admire Lucy, why don't you just watch the Lucy Show or something?

Anyways, enough of this... *sigh*
