I also really love the scene at the end of Showdown. I seriously think that they could not have done a better job writing Sam and Dianes first (intentional/consensual) kiss. (See Maria, I didn't want to upset you by calling that their first kiss, which we all know was in "Sam at Eleven"

).

lol thank you! BTW Ria I couldn't agree with you more about "Showdown", I still remember the first time I saw it! I was in shock it was so frustrating for me because I was like sitting there probably at like 12:30 at night on the edge of the seat waiting, shouting at the tv "kiss damn it kiss!" it was great!! For me the most un-expected line of the entire series was "Are you as turned on as I am?" and then the most surprising line of the entire series was "MORE!".

Of course it is one of the most popular Cheers quotes, but keep in mind that for me I actually saw cheers from episode #1 so I had only seen most of the episodes from the first season, because camp Nick at Nite didn't air all of them (although I have to admit they did a pretty good job of airing most of them, and it is because they had it divided into two nights "the Diane Years" and the "Rebecca Years". If it would have been one night they would have skimmed through the entire series....and left me a very confused individual! lol) so I was "familiar" with Cheers, but I wasn't at all sure of where things were going to go! So that one moment took me completely by surprise, like it's meant to be taken.

I think I had seen the kiss part before I saw the actual episode, but my reaction was totally different when I saw the entire show in the context of the first season--it was just such a perfect move from the flirtation into the relationship. (Also, it was the first episode of Cheers I ever taped.) I'd say the same for the breakup scene in "I'll Be Seeing You." The whole thing where they pull each other's noses is funny, but by the end of the scene, they show some pretty deep emotions. The end, where Sam looks at the painting was soooo incredible. I actually don't watch that episode much though b/c I feel bad when I watch that scene.

Yea...See ok for "I'll be Seeing You" yes, it was completely unexpected way for them to break up, but it was also a very sad episode. I almost cry every time in that scene where she's with Samenko and she's says "Sometimes he hurts me, and seems to like it" OMG for some reason every time I see her deliver that line it makes me want to cry. I didn't like Sam too much in that episode, he was an a$$hole when she was trying to be sincere with him....and I couldn't believe he hit her.......omg and then the worst well I don't want to say "worst" because the episode was brilliantely written, but the saddest part was when she goes:

Diane: You hit me!

Sam: Well not hard.

Diane: what does that mean "Not hard" ?

Sam: It means not as hard as I wanted to! (<---- OMG when he said that I screamed out "you bastard!")

Then I was so frustrated when he sees the picture and just goes "wow" ughhhhh!!! I wanted him to run after her!!!! lol

Picture: yes this could be considered a Diane but it isn't because it is titled "Shelley's autograph" lol

I know!! lol that so good! he couldn't understand...he was like but im Norm....

That was funny though how he pretends to have chest pains and then falls to the floor and gets back up and sits on his stool!

I love this episode though because it is one of the few episodes after episode#121 where you see Sam really flip out and show is bulging crazy eyes!! lol three things that will make sam flip out:

1) Cheers is in trouble

2) Diane

3) his Vette

He always does that hand motion too--the one he was doing in Showdown when he told Diane he was going to bounce her off every wall in the office.

YES!! OMG!! lol He gets all stiffened up and his shoulders and arms lock in that position!! his jaw locks and he pulls his bottom lips down and reveils his bottom teeth!! then come the eyes

!!!! finally since he's just locked in that position he starts kind of hopping around!! cause he's so mad he doesn't know what to do!! lol!! OMG that is the classic Sammy is on the verge of insanity mad!! lol

I've always loved the "dog eat dog world" quote, and just a sidenote on it...
I graduated this past week, and our schools valedictorian used that quote in his valedictory address as the "quote for the evening" I was so happy when I found out he was going to do that, and he got the whole room laughing. Leave it to Cheers to brighten up the ceremony
