For funny MTM episodes: I have plenty.
#67-Romeo and Mary (When Mary was handcuffed by Warren, that was hilarious.) #119-Ted Baxter's Famous Broadcaster's School ('We have no gym, and we have no pool, but we have a heart here at TBFBS.') #127-Chuckles Bites The Dust (The funeral scene) #154-Mary's Insomnia (The bathroom scene sends chills up my eyes.) #81-The Dinner Party (Where Ted ruins another of Mary's parties.) Note: Henry Winkler (Fonzie) appears as Rhoda's date. #1- Love Is All Around (Lou: You got spunk. I HATE spunk!!) |

I should dig out my Mary tapes and watch 'Mary's Insomnia' and 'Angels In the Snow' again! Yay, I wuv Mary again! That reminds me. Last night I was watching the last episode of The Golden Girls, where Dorothy and Lucas tie the knot. Anyway, after they exchange vows I kept expecting to hear Betty sing out 'la la la' like she did on 'Ted's Wedding.'

BTW, in that episode, I love how Ted's wearing a T-shirt -- on the front of it's a picture of his face; on the back is a picture of...the back of his head! ![]() Also, during Lou's fantasy, I like Ted's broadcast (at 80+ years old) where he forgets his name: "This is...this is, uh...(pulls out wallet, looks inside)...Genuine Cowhide."

Today I Am A Ma'am. I howled through that one. I've known a few Howard Arnells in my time...scary.

My favorite moment in the Chuckles episode is when Lou & Murray are in Lou's office:
L:"It's lucky that elephant didn't go after somebody else." M: "That's right. After all, you know how hard it is to stop after just one peanut." Was the laughter REAL? Watching them crack up gets me everytime. |

There are many that I love a lot. One that is usually overlooked (although TVgen62 mentions it on page 1 of the thread) is "I Was a Single for WJM" (the final episode from season 4). This was one of several "The Show Must Go On" episodes (where everyone presses on despite hilariously embarrassing circumstances), and watching them trying to get through their remote broadcast at a singles bar after the cameras scared all the customers away was fantastic. A brilliant setup was how Murray tried to back out of participating in the feature so he would not upset Marie. As the story airs, watch Murray's deer-in-the-headlights facial expression as the camera zooms in on him standing at the bar
. He then tries to deflect the attention to Mary. After a couple of questions Ted asks Mary, "how did you find out about this place?" She then sends it right back Murray's way and says, "he told me" (prompting Murray to want to crawl under the bar). Mary then gets Lou involved in the presentation and he wings an honest and thoughtful assessment of the situation. As he wraps up, the cameraman advises they still have four minutes of airtime to fill. Lou then throws it back to the newsroom, where a panic-stricken Ted announces four minutes of silence to observe the final day of the auto show in Minneapolis.

"Put On A Happy Face" was hilarious, and showed that even Mary Richards can have a day where everything goes wrong. The sight of Rhoda just trying not to gloat was hysterical.
"The Snow Must Go On", "The Five-Minute Dress", "Lou's First Date", and "It's Whether You Win Or Lose" (the Hideko Sawakaki moment is priceless!) have all cracked me up countless times. But when I recently saw this episode again, I have to say this was my most laugh out loud MTM moment. It came in the first season ep, "Toulouse-Lautrec Is One of My Favorite Artists". Mary is dating a man who is, ahem, shorter than she. She introduces him to Rhoda and makes a BIG gaffe: Mary: Eric, I'd like you to meet my friend, Rhoda Morgenstern; Rhoda, this is Eric Shrimp. The studio audience howled for about 2 minutes, and I was howling right along with them!! CLASSIC!!

Yes, I love the "Eric shrimp" line, too. The look on Mary's face is priceless. It's like, "Oh, God, did I just say that?!"
"Put on a Happy Face" has always been one of my favorties, too. The hair bump thing is classic. There are just so many classic moments in this show, you could prob. go on all day, hehe. - Kristen |

(also A MTM Q.) There are many MTM eps I've loved, but my favorite & funniest is the one where Mary finds out she's making $50 less than the guy who had the job before her. I also remember in this ep Gordy and Ted are teamed to do a show together. Ted doesn't realize he's the second fiddle ("straight man") until someone spills the beans. Then Ted tries to be funny and starts saying one stupid thing after another (really unusual for Ted, right). BUT THIS TIME HE'S REALLY STUPID! AND IT'S ON THE AIR! Mary gets more and more exasperated and finally turns to him and says (something like) Ted will you please shut up. It was the funniest ep for me, because you never hear Mary say anything like that. What was the name of the ep? & what season? The Lars Affair was probably my second favorite, cause Sue Ann and Mary are fierce in it. Also, if I remember correctly, that's first time Sue Ann appears on MTM.
