Libby, LuPone's character on the show, was sitting on the swing and the child that she had loss came back and asked her what it would had been liked to be part of the family. He asked her to sing to him. She sang a song from Peter Pan and it was very moving and emotionally powerful. Too bad they cut into the commercial.

I think Andy Griffith cut a few albums, if I'm not mistaken - Andy Griffith Show

And David Soul had a huge hit in the 70's - Starsky & Hutch

John Travolta (I'm gonna let her in, mmhmm ) - Welcome Back, Kotter

I guess one can say the Flintstones. I'm sure Reed/Blanc/Pyl and the others did the singing on the show ( "Let the Sunshine In', and others ). Awhile back there was an actual Flintstones CD out with all the songs featured on the show.

same thing with the Simpsons.

Nope. They weren't singers who got a TV show, they had a TV show first.

Someone mentioned David Cassidy (for The Partridge Family), just wanna add Shirley Jones, too.

Irene Cara - Fame

Debbie Allen - Fame and Three Girls Three

Davy Jones - The Monkees

Dick Van Dyke - The Dick Van Dyke Show I'm not sure if this counts. He was in musicals (stage and screen), but wasn't a recording artist.

Jim Nabors - Gomer Pyle, USMC

Well, they did get some spinoff shows, like The Brady Bunch Hour (1977), The Brady Brides (1981), and The Bradys (1990).

William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy of Star Trek both made albums in the late 60's.
Anson Williams and Donny Most of Happy Days both made albums too in the late 70's

If I were William Shatner, I'd pray that everyone would just as soon forget about that album.

I don't think Leonard Nimoy sang on his album. (Didn't he recite poetry or something?)

I thought Leonard Nimoy sang on his album, maybe he did poetry or spoken word songs. Anyway, both albums of William and Leonard's are highly collectable.
