All of those death references are eerie and cilling but in regards to the good night sweet Prince line I think we need to remember that CATM was a comedy after all and I think the prince line was a play on names and words just as Freddie's legal name change-He wanted to be unique. He couldn;t be the king of comedy so he was going to be the Pinze note unique spelling and it is also a little similar to his birth name.
I think it was just a play on words for the laugh of it but looking at the scene after Freddie's death does give it an errie feeling |

My hubby thinks I'm putting too much emphasis on the death thing. He tells me it's just a coincidence. One day I was looking at the show and hubby walked in and the show kept on talking about death and dying and I asked him is it weird or what? He said "Yes" it is wierd.......

Another episode where he cries is when Ed tells him he doesn't want him anymore & wants him to leave. In one epsiode, I think it's that one, he looks like he's about to cry & he swallows real hard a couple of times like he's got a big lump in his throat & is about to burst into tears... So that's like 10 episodes he's cried in...

Another episode where he cries is the Shelley Winters one. When she starts telling how her late husband Max died from being hit by a snow plow Chico looks like he's about to cry. You can see him blinking his eyes the whole time she's telling that like he's blinking tears from his eyes & he swallows really hard like he's got a big lump in his throat & is all choked up...
So that's 11 episodes he's cried in... |

"Everyone" I just got spooked...... After today I'm going to need a long rest......
I was just looking at episode # 11 The Veterans. As I was looking at the tape Chico and Ed were talking in Ed's office about Ed when he got shot and wounded in the war he was in New Orleans. They are talking about someone who shot Ed and as I'm listening intently I noticed in the background the word HEAD. I just freaked out! If my husband hears me....... He's going to think I'm a goner............ [This message has been edited by JennyLee22 (edited 06-11-2001).] |

Last night I saw the episode #19 - Long live the man..... At the end of this episode Chico asks Ed What would happen if he were to die first?
Chico: What if I were to go back to the bosom of Abraham? Ed: tells Chico that he's too young to think about that. Ed says at the end "Good night sweet Prince"! |

I've been wondering why he said to Chico "Goodnite Sweet Prinze" when Freddie was being Chico & not Freddie?

Cheryl,
I really think the line goodnite sweet prince was a comedic twist on Freddie;s real name, perhaps ment to lighten the mood |

Me too Cheryl,
In fact that's what I told my sister the other day when she told me she thought I was obcessed and going off the deep end with pics of "a dead guy" in my room and on my pc screen. I told her I like to think of Freddie and the marvelous talent he was. His show made me laugh then and it does now and I like to remember him for that (With the world the way it is anything that makes you laugh can't be all that bad) |

Evindently your sister has forgotten all the famous dead people who are still loved & have fans who collect on them like Elvis, John Lennon, Marilyn Monroe & others. Nothing obsessive about liking Freddie/CATM. Good comedy never goes out of style. When someone passes on you keep their memory alive & we're all doing that here.
So keep on putting up the pictures. Eventually your sister will see enough of them that she will grow to like him too.

I found another episode where Chico cries. It's the one where Rev. Bemis isn't popular with his church congragation anymore & he gets Chico to preach at his church & they like Chico better & Chico & Ed try to get the folks to like Rev Bemis again.
It's a scene where Rev Bemis comes to the garage & tells Chico & Ed that is has written a letter to the Elders of the church to resign. Chico sees the Revs letter has tears on it. The Rev gets to crying. I noticed when Rev Bemis cries, Chico looks like he's about to start crying too & there tears in his eyes. It's so sweet how he cared about the Rev. You can tell it really got to Freddie. What kept Chico from bawling was the church ladies come in there to see him. It was sooo sweet... I found another episode where Chico cries. It's an earlier episode. It's the one where Ed ex-friend Guerra comes in the garage to have his car fixed & Chico tries to get them back together.
There is a scene more towards the end where Chico tries to get Guerra to go upstairs to talk to Ed. After he talks to Guerra & Guerra goes to the steps & stops a minute. Chico looks like he's about to cry. He's blinking tears from his eyes & he looks sooo sad. Guerra starts walking up the stairs. I noticed that Chico had tears in his eyes & his eyes are shining with tears. I noticed that if you look real good you can see tears coming out of his eyes & streaming down his face. He looks like he's about to bawl his eyes out. It's so sad... They turn the camera away from Chico to show Guerra knocking on the door. I bet they did that not only cuz that was next in the scene but probably so Chico could regain his composure. After Ed lets Guerra in, Chico starts to get happy again. I could tell that this wasn't written in the script but that Freddie was truly sad when he was in this scene & it made him really sad. I bet he thought he had no one that cared even that early in the series. Poor baby! I ebt folks probably thought he was just crying cuz he was soft-hearted & the scene got to him which it did, but never knew how sad he truly was.

You're very perceptive, Cheryl! Too bad Freddie didn't have someone like you around back then to see how bad he was hurting inside!
