All I know is the host, but I can't say until the official PR comes out. I've known about it since a while (beginning of the month or so).

star of the current hit comedy series 8 Simple Rules...for Dating My Teenage Daughter and the enduring hit sitcom Three's Company will host the TV Land Awards: A Celebration of Classic TV, premiering on TV Land and simulcast on Nick at Nite on Wednesday, March 12 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT, it was announced today by Larry W. Jones, Executive Vice President and General Manager, TV Land and Nick at Nite. The event will be taped on Sunday, March 2 from the renowned Hollywood Palladium.
The TV Land Awards represents the network's first ever foray into awards show programming. The special recognizes the shows from television's rich history that have truly withstood the test of time. TV Land, together with some of the most beloved celebrities of modern and classic TV, will honor the legends, innovators, pop culture favorites and unsung heroes of television's past. The telecast is presented by Chevy Trucks and in part by Revlon.
"We are thrilled to have John Ritter host our milestone inaugural TV Land Awards," states Larry W. Jones, Executive Vice President, TV Land and Nick at Nite. "John has been a long-time friend of TV Land and Nick at Nite and is the perfect choice to host the show."
John Ritter is currently the star of ABC's hit comedy 8 Simple Rules...for Dating My Teenage Daughter. His character, Paul Hennessey, is a sports writer who has grown accustomed to his wife staying at home to raise their son and two teenage daughters. When she decides to return to work, he agrees to write his sports column out of their home, thus allowing him time to share the experience of raising their kids together.
A native of Los Angeles, John came to national prominence as the star of television's long-running hit comedy series Three's Company, which earned him Emmy, Golden Globe and People's Choice awards for his role as Jack Tripper. He returned to series television in Hooperman, receiving Emmy and Golden Globe
nominations and winning a People's Choice Award. He then starred in the comedy series Hearts Afire, which ran from 1992 through 1995. Most recently, his show 8 Simple Rules won a People's Choice Award for Best New Comedy.
John has starred in more than 25 television movies, including "Unnatural Causes," which earned him an Emmy nomination for Best Actor, "Stephen King's It," "The Dreamer of Oz," "The Only Way Out," "Unforgivable" and "A Child's
Wish" -- featuring a special appearance by President Clinton.
He has guest starred on many popular television series and earned an Emmy nomination for his appearance on Ally McBeal. He can presently be heard every day as the voice of Clifford, the Big Red Dog on the popular PBS animated series, a role which has earned him two Emmy nominations.
John's motion picture credits include Peter Bogdanovich's "They All Laughed" and "Noises Off", Blake Edwards' "Skin Deep," "Problem Child," "Sling Blade" and "Panic". He most recently co-starred with Sigourney Weaver in "Tadpole".
He has appeared in more than 50 plays all over the country and recently completed a nine-month starring role in the Broadway premiere of Neil Simon's "The Dinner Party," which won a Theatre World Award and the 2001 Outer Critics Circle Award. John returned to the Los Angeles stage last March, starring in
"J for J" in a six-week run at the Court Theatre.

awards to some of television's legendary series at the network's inaugural awards show, The TV Land Awards: A Celebration of Classic TV. The recipient shows include The Dick Van Dyke Show (Legend Award), All in the Family (Innovator Award), Star Trek (Pop Culture Award), Julia (Groundbreaking Role Award) and SCTV (Unsung Hero Award).
The TV Land Awards: A Celebration of Classic TV premieres on TV Land and simulcast on Nick at Nite on WEDNESDAY, March 12 (9:00-11:00 pm ET/PT. The show has moved from the previously announced date of Sunday, March 9.
TV Land's first ever awards show, hosted by Emmy-award winning actor John Ritter, recognizes the best and brightest stars and shows from television's rich history. This two-hour celebration is presented by Chevy Trucks and in part by Revlon.
"TV Land is the network of record for television's glorious past - and the most logical place to honor these indelible series that have withstood the test of time," notes Larry W. LEGEND AWARD
This award is presented to a television series which has stood the test of time and ranks among the most memorable and celebrated shows in TV history. TV Land will honor The Dick Van Dyke Show as this year's recipient.
This legendary sitcom, which ran on CBS from 1961-1966, is often considered one of television's all-time classic comedy series. The show's success can be traced to its combination of first-class comedic script-writing anchored by creator Carl Reiner and a star-studded cast featuring some of the medium's biggest names including Dick Van Dyke, Mary Tyler Moore, Rose Marie,
Morey Amsterdam and Sheldon Leonard. The show's premise, ironically enough, centered on the life of television comedy writer, Rob Petrie (Van Dyke), and his lovely wife, Laura (Moore) who lived in suburban New Rochelle, New York.
The series garnered 15 Emmy awards during its run on CBS.

INNOVATOR AWARD
This award is presented to a show which took a chance with an idea which directly challenged the standard norms of the day. This year's honoree is All in the Family.
Norman Lear's groundbreaking comedic series changed the way television portrayed American families. For the first time ever, the lead character in a sitcom, Archie Bunker, was a prejudiced, out-spoken working class everyman who unabashedly rendered his right-wing opinions to anyone who would listen. The
show was brutally honest and never hid behind political-correctness. What made it so successful was that Bunker, so brilliantly played by Carroll O'Connor, was surrounded by the very people whom he loathed including hippie liberals (son-in-law Mike Stivic, aka "Meathead," played by Rob Reiner), upwardly
mobile African-Americans (neighbors, The Jeffersons, played by Sherman Hemsley and Isabel Sanford), and independent-minded, free-thinking women (daughter Gloria played by Sally Struthers). The glue that held the family together was Bunker's wife, Edith (Jean Stapleton). The series garnered 21 Emmy awards
during its run on CBS.

POP CULTURE AWARD
This award is presented to a show which has crossed the line from television series to pop culture phenomenon. TV Land acknowledges Star Trek as this year's victor.
Launched in 1966, the legendary sci-fi series Star Trek has spawned a billion dollar franchise and a loyal legion of die-hard fans, known as Trekkies. Overall, the indomitable Star Trek brand has launched 10 theatrical films, five major television series, and has become part of today's cultural lexicon. Starring William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, George Takei, Nichelle Nichols and James Doohan, the futuristic series follows the
adventures of the starship U.S.S. Enterprise whose mission involves reconnaissance of previously unexplored worlds.

GROUNDBREAKING ROLE AWARD
This award is presented to an actor who changed the course of television history with a memorable, groundbreaking character. TV Land recognizes Diahann Carroll's portrayal of Julia for this year's award.
In Julia, Diahann Carroll broke ground as the first African-American actress to star in her own series as a professional, independent woman.
Carroll's character was a strong, hard-working Vietnam War-widow who moved to Los Angeles with her young son to pursue a successful career as a nurse.
Carroll's portrayal paved the way for African-American actresses and helped open the door for new roles and opportunities that were previously unavailable due to racial bias and unfair stereotyping.

UNSUNG HERO AWARD
This award is presented to a classic series which never received the praise and fan approval it so richly deserved. TV Land recognizes SCTV (Second City Television) as this year's recipient.
One of television's most hilarious sketch comedy series featured a Toronto-based comedy troupe who parodied television. Their outrageous skits became legendary and paved the way for future sketch comedy series. Unlike Saturday Night Live, SCTV was a syndicated series for much of its existence
and was never able to draw the same attention as NBC's Saturday late-night staple. Among the notable performers included John Candy, Martin Short, Rick Moranis, Harold Ramis, Andrea Martin, Eugene Levy, and Catherine O'Hara.

TV Land has also asked viewers to log-on to tvland.com and vote for a variety of always classic, often campy categories including 'Best TV Doctor' and 'Nosiest Neighbor' with the winners to be announced and presented at the show. The voting is taking place on tvland.com, and ends March 1. To date, hundreds of thousands of votes have been cast and the traffic to tvland.com has nearly doubled since the voting began. While most of the winners will be announced during the telecast, many will be announced exclusively at tvland.com during the live, interactive show companion.
