As many times as I've seen some of these episodes, it still surprises how many people were on TZ. You had Jack Klugman, Burgess Meredith, Leonard Nimoy, William Shatner, Julie Newmar, Telly Sulvalas (sp?). Geez, even Carol Burnett was in an episode. Ted Knight, isn't that his name from the Mary Tyler Moore Show was in an episode. You'll have to really look closely for Ted. He isn't the main player in his episode.

I've seen this one episode called The New Exhibit numerous times. The main guy looked very familiar to me, but I just couldn't place his name for anything. I was talking to one of my friends one night and he said that it was Martin Balsam (Murray on Archie Bunker's Place) I went back and looked at the episode and sure enough, it was him.

Here's a pic of Martin's episode.

Carol's episode: Cavender is Coming

Here's a pic from Frank Sutton's episode called The Dummy. He looks very different with the hair.

She has devil horns on her head. How's this for a name- Miss Devilin. That's her character name in the ep. I think that's how she spelled it. I think you'll like the episodes that the Batman actors were in. Each one of them has an awesome ending.

I swear I can't spell tonight. lol

Um, let me check. I don't see it in my TZ post. I'll check scifi's website and see if they made any changes to the schedule. If they did and added that ep, I'll come back and post again.

Unfortunately, it isn't scheduled to play during the big marathon. However, you will get a chance to see it.

For those wanting to watch or record the marathon my schedule is the E/P times. Just wanted to clear that up because I think I left that out of my original post. Sorry about that.

I'm watching this episode right now. Thanks Jenny for posting this, I would have never known about it. It's great to have a member like you around. I can't wait until the episodes with Burgess air.

Happy New Year,

Chris,

I'm glad you got the chance to see them. I'll keep you updated on the Burgess episode that they aren't playing in this marathon. That would be Mr. Dingle, the Strong.

I am a complete ditz though, I posted some of the Batman stars but I forgot about a few of them. I caught The Dummy episode and seen Cliff Robertson and it hit me that I forgot to post that ep. I'll keep you updated on that episode since I forgot to post it before. The Dummy episode is fantastic. I won't give away details, you just have to see it.

Stafford Repp was in an episode called The Graves. He had a bit part in that episode. I don't think they showed that one, so I'll keep you updated on that one too.

You're very welcome.

Oh yeah, for those that haven't seen too many TZ episodes before and you caught this marathon- you should know that they are lumping the hour long eps together. I should tell everybody that the hour episodes aren't that great. That's kind of expected though. All shows must have a few rotten eggs, and season 4 is filled with them. I love TZ and all that, but the hour long (season 4) only have a few good episodes (Cliffordville, Printers Devil, Jess-Belle, Thursday We Leave for Home, The New Exhibit, Miniature, and 30 Fathom Grave ) are really the most notable of that season. Other than that, I would rank that the weakest season.

If you caught a few hour episodes and thought they sucked, try catching the 30 minute episodes. I swear the 30 minute ones are way better.

I loved this episode. The story was great.

Is Burgess a smoker in real life? I noticed he smoked in Batman, Gloria, and the TZ episodes and wondered if he really is a smoker in real life.

I agree that the 30 minute episodes are better than the 1 hour episodes.

Hmm, I think I read that he used to smoke a lot and he gave it up. Here's the cool part when he got the Penguin role, you know how he quacks in that role. The smoke irritated his throat and instead of coughing, he would make the little quacks. I thought that was pretty cool.

Imo, the hour long eps jumped the shark. Most of the really good writers, including Rod didn't provide many scripts for that season. Rod chipped in a few scripts during 4 and 5, but he was out of material. I think he did over 90 out of the 156 eps, so he was pretty much out of material. That's why he left. He continued to do the narrations and stuff like that, and that's basically why Rod appears in a seperate room during season 4 and 5 instead of stepping into the first scenes and saying the narration. They would catch him when they could and he would film the openings and that would be it.

At least they had sense enough to realize that the hour long eps just weren't working. Season 5 it improved definitely.

Basically, you can count it as two different shows in a way. The Rod years will always show up as 'The Twilight Zone' when the opening credits come up. The non- Rod years will just be 'Twilight Zone'. I had never noticed that name change before until I read those Rod biographies. Never even noticed they dropped the word 'The'.

I kind of wish they would bring back 'Night Gallery'. That was another Rod Serling show. I taped an episode a few years ago and I never got around to watching it and I accidentally recorded over it.

Anyway, Adam West was in an episode of Night Gallery. I'll try to hunt up a few pics of his appearance, but I'm not sure if I can find any. NG just wasn't that popular, I don't think. It'd be kind of rare if you went to yahoo and typed in Night Gallery websites and a bunch of websites popped up.

Let me look.

Whoa, I found one good NG website. Looks like Burgess was on an episode of that too. Once again, he looks mighty different.
