What I think could help ABC from jumping the shark is bringing back their movie of the week or show movies in the primetime hour. Because it is surprising that many networks have not had movies shown during primetime and this would help ABC score big ratings and an audience. But as I mentioned in my previous post I think it's time for The View to end and another talk show or game show should be put in it's place. Because when it first began with the original hosts The View started out good but if you watch The View now it has turned into a celebrity gossip show and you see stars like Jeremy Renner and Kelsey Grammer promote their new books and stars like Paul Rudd and Sebastian Stan promote new movies and I don't recall The View focusing so much on celebrities such as Britney Spears and Beyonce and Taylor Swift. I also can't figure out why Grey's Anatomy still survives on ABC? And it should've ended when Patrick Dempsey left the show because when Grey's Anatomy debuted Patrick Dempsey was the main reason the show got ABC good ratings and kept them from jumping the shark. But how shows like Once Upon A Time and Scandal gave ABC good ratings I'll never understand. If ABC could launch successful sitcoms like they did in the 90's with Dharma And Greg Sports Night and Spin City it would save ABC from going belly up. But I also think what made ABC jump the shark was when they marketed Drew Carey as a top celebrity after The Drew Carey Show became a monster hit and if it wasn't for The Drew Carey Show Drew Carey would've never have hosted the American version of Whose Line Is It Anyway? Which itself was an unappealing idea because how that show got ratings for ABC i'll never figure out why? But at least Wayne Brady got his chance at superstardom thanks to this show but ABC at least gets good ratings from their summer game block and that's what has kept them successful

Grey’s should have been cancelled a long time ago. And ABC really screwed up her. They fired Adam F. Goldberg from The Goldbergs I mean it was his show! Now, I loved the show don’t get me wrong but ABC ran the show into the dirt and cancelled it without it getting a proper finale. They should have canned it after George Segal died and Jeff Garlin got fired. I know you diehards jumped down my throat for saying that the show was past its prime on here and on social media but I am sorry to say it is the truth. Also, I do not like that ABC passed on the LA Law sequel series. If I ran ABC, I would have wrapped up Grey’s and put on LA Law at 10 on Thursday nights just like the old days. Station 19 would be at 8, Big Sky at 9 and finally LA Law at 10. The rookie spinoff would have never seen the light of day. I would have put Alaska Daily on Tuesdays at 10.

If you look at ABC in the past when Roseanne debuted in 1988 it was their good time in the 80's for ABC's sitcoms but when Roseanne ended it's finale in 1997 it made ABC jump the shark and what they could've done was have Roseanne air one last season rather than ending it in 1997 but if you look at Roseanne today it's still very popular in reruns in syndication but also when Coach ended it's run ABC was smart to give Coach a proper finale by having an actual farewell show. Something that they didn't give Roseanne when it ended. Another thing that made ABC jump the shark was when they added sitcoms that were weird and didn't fit the network at all. Like I can't figure out how Imaginary Mary was made because it was very unappealing with the character Mary and her doll/friend. And another sitcom that seemed to show promise that was cancelled too soon was Bless This Mess and I think why ABC cancelled it was because it was low ratings and that made ABC jump the shark even more. If ABC was to create a spinoff channel full of original sitcoms called ABC Laughs it would be a smart idea if it was made. But what I think keeps ABC from jumping the shark is dramas and if you look at ABC's successes they are all dramas. But how Scandal became a hit drama i'll never understand because it seemed to get high ratings and even a Scandal themed episode of GSN's The Chase. But what ABC really needs is a better daytime lineup besides The View and a daytime game show might work miracles smartly

What I think also caused ABC to jump the shark badly was getting rid of the ABC Afterschool Specials and I think when ABC cancelled them it hurt them in ratings and if ABC was to reboot the ABC Afterschool Specials for today's generation it would grant ABC big ratings. And the same thing would happen if ABC was to reboot a new version of the ABC Weekend Special. Another thing I think caused ABC to jump the shark was ruining Dick Clark's New Year's Rocking Eve with Ryan Seacrest and they should've cancelled it when Dick Clark passed away and created their own New Year's Eve show in place of New Year's Rocking Eve because how Ryan Seacrest became the new star of that show i'll never figure out? But having The Mole as a reality show probably was the worst idea ever made and how in the world The Mole came to be is odd. Because my dad saw an episode of The Mole and found it hard to understand and the only reason it got ratings was because Anderson Cooper was the host. But I do think ABC needs to step up to the plate and get shows and sitcoms that are worthy of watching

Ryan Seacrest is the pest who won't go away. He never should have been made the Wheel of Fortune host either.

How Celebrity Wheel Of Fortune was even thought up I'll never figure out? Because for some reason this game show gets high ratings every summer even more than Press Your Luck with Elizabeth Banks and this version of Wheel Of Fortune should've been made for syndication rather than ABC. Another game show that I wish would get cancelled is Celebrity Family Feud because how this game show gets high ratings also is a mystery and the only reason it's ratings are high is due to Steve Harvey. Another thing that ABC did that made them jump the shark is remove NASCAR racing and now it seems that the only racing that draws big ratings is the Indy 500 every year but why ABC removed NASCAR racing from the network is a mystery because like the Indy Car races NASCAR races on ABC brought ABC Sports lots of audience and money. But I think ABC Sports should get the rights to the Kentucky Derby away from NBC and start showing horse racing on the network

What I think ABC really did a really fine mess with Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and when it started out in 1999 for ABC it was great but once John Carpenter became the show's very first million dollar champion the show started to wane and how they came out with special editions such as Couples Edition College Week Teen Week and Super Millionaire but what really ruined Who Wants To Be A Millionaire was their celebrity editions and by having celebrities like Emeril LaGasse Lance Bass and Kathie Lee Gifford and Kelly Ripa play just to get the show ratings and once they saw that Celebrity Millionaire worked they repeated it with Supermodels Millionaire Comedians Millionaire Hip-Hop Millionaire with artists like MC Hammer Vanilla Ice and so in and why people watched these editions i'll never know? But in the soap opera department how The City existed in 1996 i'll never understand? And when Loving was launched on ABC in 1983 it was a monster hit but when Loving ended in 1995 it should've ended with just the finale but I think Loving fans wanted to see a spinoff of Loving and ABC hoped that The City would gain more new fans but it wasn't the success they hoped it was gonna be. I guess ABC thought spinoffs of soap operas worked but look at what happened with Port Charles

Celebrity editions were nice when Regis was still the host. They went downhill with Jimmy, though.

I think ABC was very wrong to make Jimmy Kimmel the new star of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and making it a celebrity format rather than the old Regis Philbin format because I basically think ABC gave the hosting job to Jimmy Kimmel because he was a good friend of Regis Philbin but as you can see when celebrity game shows and reality shows are on ABC they score ratings. But what I think ABC should seriously think about doing is developing a spinoff channel called ABC Laughs and it would be an all-sitcom channel filled with original sitcoms similar to Catchy Comedy and if ABC Laughs existed it would gain an audience. Because I think ABC sitcoms today have made ABC jump the shark and I cannot figure out how sitcoms like Happy's Place give ABC giant ratings? The only time ABC had great sitcoms was in the 2000's when The Drew Carey Show Dharma And Greg Spin City and Sports Night got good ratings but I think when ABC jumped the shark was when Home Improvement ended and they should've not ended Home Improvement in the first place but ending 8 Simple Rules when John Ritter passed away rather than replace him hurt ABC a lot. And how Spin City got strong ratings with Charlie Sheen i'll never figure out?

Happy's Place airs on NBC, not ABC. And I like that show, has a solid cast. Home Improvement ended because Patricia Richardson did not want to continue, plus Jonathan Taylor Thomas had already left and his absence was felt in season 8.

ABC jumped the shark years ago. They ran The Goldbergs into the dirt and they fired Adam F. Goldberg from his own show because they felt the studio could do it better and they are not just running the view into the dirt but they are also running Grey’s Anatomy into the dirt too.

I think ABC needs to improve itself and return to the formula it originally had because why they have jumped the shark is they are trying to appeal to the 60-80 year old audience. But if they had decent sitcoms and have dramas that are worth watching instead of cancelling promising dramas and sitcoms ABC would get better

Literally all major networks have “jumped the shark”. Some blame it on streaming but the problem existed long before streaming came along. The quality of TV went in the tank years ago.

The reason I think Grey's Anatomy is still a hit for ABC is because I think ABC wanted to create their own version of NBC's St. Elsewhere that ran from 1982-1989 and when you see Grey's Anatomy it is similar to St. Elsewhere. But the only reason it got ratings was when Patrick Dempsey was in it and once he left you could guess the ratings for Grey's Anatomy went down. But in sitcoms why ABC came up with Thea in 1994 i'll never know because this show showed promise but the only reason this show got alright ratings was because singer Brandy was in it but it got cancelled in my eyes it just wasn't popular enough. But the biggest mistake was debuting The Wonderful World Of Disney and why I think ABC decided to do this was to market every Disney movie made because in their eyes ABC wanted to create a family oriented hour for Sunday nights but the one movie that got The Wonderful World Of Disney ratings was the remake of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella and the one reason it mainly got giant ratings was because of Brandy and Whitney Houston and ABC marketed that movie like a big event. And then they added movies like Toothless and Ruby Bridges and had ABC shown Disney animated movies instead on The Wonderful World Of Disney it would've been better. But what ABC needs in my mind is a primetime Sunday night movie block like they used to do but I don't think we'll ever see that happen in the future

What I cannot figure out is why ABC decided to revive The Chase and not have it revived on GSN? Because in my eyes ABC took a successful game show and ruined it. And how Sara Haines was chosen to host The Chase revival i'll never solve the mystery because they should've made Brooke Burns the host of the revival. What I mainly think The Chase was revived was so they could have Jeopardy champions be the chasers. I saw the debut episode of The Chase revival and to me it seemed like they wanted to make the Jeopardy champions chasers was to honor the memory of Alex Trebek who had passed away the week the show debuted and even with the return of Mark Labbett as one of the chasers from the British version and the American GSN version didn't help in The Chase revival's second season. And how this ruined version airs reruns on GSN i'll never even understand at all. In the sitcom department how The Drew Carey Show even survived is a mystery because I think what ruined it was the changing of the theme song to Ian Hunter's Cleveland Rocks that was covered by the rock band The Presidents Of The United States Of America and what did this have to do with The Drew Carey Show? I'm surprised that it made Drew Carey a superstar and a household name before The Price Is Right. Another show that became a giant hit was the sitcom Two Guys A Girl And A Pizza Place and I think the only reason it became a hit was because the storyline was cool. But when the title changed to Two Guys And A Girl that show jumped the shark but at least it made Ryan Reynolds a big name in sitcoms way before Deadpool made him a star. But I mainly think ABC is turning away from sitcoms and aiming to focus on game shows reality shows dramas and crime dramas because that is what their current audience is drawn to in TV
