I just think it's interesting how F*O*L 1988 brought this post back from August of 2002 and seeing all the updated usernames, avatars, and siggys.

In the movie "Selena," Jennifer Lopez plays the character of The Queen of Tex-Mex Pop, Selena Quintanilla.

You have got to be kidding me. Jennifer Lopez doesn't even come close to being what you described.

They're the only Spanish singers I've saeen here! All the others are Puerto Rican, Mexican, Colombian. . . .

Oh, wait. . . . You mean Spanish-language music! Well, then, you should have made that clear!

I don't mean to sound disrespectful, but did Selena ever have a big hit, because I don't think I ever heard one of her songs.

all of her hits were big hits but this is spanish music we are talking about. If you don't listen to that kind the first Selena song you heard was I Could Fall In Love and or Dreaming of You.

The only selena songs i've really heard are "como la flor" and some other one that goes like OHHHH OHHHHH BABY because we had to sing them for cinco de mayo things years ago.

Yeah. She was one of the most respected Latin artists and still is.She and her band really hit it big in 1992 when they first released Como La Flor and La Carcacha and the rest is history. She won a lot of Tejano Music Awards. She won a Grammy. Even in death she's still selling big time. Even if it's a greatest hits album, it sells like you can't imagine, especially for someone who isnt even here anymore. Selena was extremely popular and this goes back to my point in the other thread: a lot of people don't know the facts so, I give them to ya.
