I haven't watched it yet, but it seems that the choices of what shows to emphasize or what actors were featured were probably down to the producers of the show.
Even though Lear didn't have a hand in shows like The Facts Of Life, Lear's company produced it and the producers probably figured more people would recognize it. Personally, I would rather they focused on shows he either produced, developed, and wrote. |

Two questions:
1. Why were The Facts Of Life girls referenced as characters that Norman Lear created or wrote, when he did neither? 2. Why was the show titled 100 Years Of MUSIC and Laughter. Lear was a comedy writer, director, and producer, not a musician? |

Norman Lear was old when I was a child in the 1970's. Find the All In the Family retrospective he did in the 1970's and think, wow, this man is still alive in 2022.
Lear hit it big with All In the Family, The Jeffersons and to a lesser but successful extent Good Times. He also had a large hand in Sanford and Son. But it seems to me that in the 1980's he became irrevelant (although the Jeffersons lasted until 1985). The times changed (America went more conservative in the 1980's) and for whatever reason Lear couldnt adapt, he made his money. He tried to put out stuff in the 1980's and 1990's but it got cancelled quickly. |

I saw Todd Bridges sitting with or near the Facts of Life girls. I think this was taped a while back. Maybe late July or early August.

Similar sentiments for the crabby miser character actor Charles Lane. Saw him on so many TV shows from the 1950s and 60s. He looked old then and then I learned he was still living at age 100 ~2005. Wow! |
