54 is almost as old as my dad...but Ted 20 years ago was totally hot, and I would have dated him, except I was an infant, so that doesn't really work. *sigh*

Dulc, I absolutely love your reasoning. LOL Besides, I think Ted is still handsome, or maybe it is just the fact that I know what he used to look like, and I can't acknowledge that he now has gray hair and wrinkles. LOL

The only one who really aged well was Kelsey Grammer. (I'm not saying Bebe because she's still young!!! *gasp* And no one better say otherwise!)
I think Kelsey's far more handsome now than his Cheers years with his little mullet cut. I honestly think he's very handsome now. I don't find Ted attractive at all... sorry guys. Even then... Sam had charm, he carried himself well, but I didn't find him, "hot." Kyle Lowder... now that's HOTT, baby! Mmmmm...

Frasier: I see. Well, enticed as I am by your honeyed words, I'm gonna need some kissin'. Lilith: Frasier, don't misunderstand. I'm not proposing any change in our relationship. Frasier: Would we sleep together? Lilith: I thought we'd freeze your sperm. Frasier: Is that a yes or a no? Lilith: Natural fertilization isn't practical. I'd have to fly to Seattle every time I ovulate. Frasier: Right, okay. So then, your plan is for me to visit some local doctor, freeze my essence, and then bring it home with you. Lilith: Correct. I'll take mine to go! |

Ted's still handsome, but it doesn't mean I find him attractive now. I think Sean Connery has aged well and is handsome, but he's old enough to be my grandfather, so that kills the attraction right there.
I agree about Kelsey having aged well. And I absolutely love his voice. |

"Cheers 20th Anniversary: SAM-CENTRIC EPISODES OF CHEERS" Monday, September 30th from 9pm to 6am ET/PT 9:00PM #2 “Sam’s Women” Diane can't conceal her scorn of Sam's parade of beautiful but shallow dates and puts him on the defensive about his taste in females. GS: Angela Aames, Donna McKenzie, Donnelly Rhodes, Keenan Ivory Wayans 9:30PM #13 “Now Pitching, Sam Malone” Sexy, high-powered TV commercial agent Lana Marshall makes Sam an offer he can't refuse. Diane, however, aims to open his eyes to the fact that Lana's terms go beyond those spelled out in the contract. GS: Barbara Babcock, Rick Hill, Paul Vaughn 10:00PM #49 “Sam Turns the Other Cheek” Sam unwittingly breaks one of his cardinal rules - never date married women - and although he breaks it off with Maxine when he discovers she is married, her jealous husband, Marvin, shows up at the bar with a gun. 10:30PM #109 “Diamond Sam” Entering Cheers together, Sam and Diane with much fanfare, announce that they're officially engaged. 11:00PM #123 “’I’ On Sports” Sam is asked by an old sportscaster friend, Dave Richards, to substitute for him while he's away on vacation. Initially reluctant to accept, Sam is persuaded to go for it, and lies to Rebecca about his apartment being robbed in order to get out of work the first night. The broadcast goes well, but he still asks his co-anchor Joanne to make his commentary more interesting. Taking her suggestion to heart, Sam's segment gets increasingly more bizarre, culminating with him making a fool of himself the final night by using a ventriloquist's dummy to help him report the news. 11:30PM #141 “The Sam in the Grey Flannel Suit” Rebecca is extremely upset when she finds out that Sam has been chosen by Evan Drake to work as an executive in the corporate offices. GS: Tom Skerritt, Pamela Bowen, Vincent Howard, George Shannon 12:00AM #180 “Sam Ahoy” Sam convinces Robin to allow him to sail his boat "The Rebecca" in the upcoming Boston Harbor regatta for a shot at the $10,000 in prize money and the chance to buy back Cheers. 12:30AM #181 “Sam and the Professor” Rebecca is in a nervous state as she prepares for a visit from her favorite college professor. To Rebecca's horror, Professor Volkman is quite charmed with Sam and has a brief affair with him. GS: Alexis Smith, Stack Pierce, Diedrich Bader 1:00AM #187 “Indoor Fun with Sammy and Robby” Rebecca's plans for a romantic day with Robin are ruined when he opts to spend the day in games of one-upmanship with Sam. 1:30AM #204 “Bad Neighbor Sam” Cheers' landmark 200th episode finds Sam fighting with the new owner of Melville's, Manhattan restaurateur John Allen Hill, who has turned the upstairs restaurant into the toast of Boston nightlife. 2:00AM #213 “Sam Time Next Year” While eagerly preparing for his annual Valentine's Day date in Vermont with his old girlfriend, Lauren, Sam injures his back in a fall down the bar stairs. GS: Barbara Feldon 2:30AM #218 “Pitch it Again Sam” Sam grapples with an invitation from an old baseball rival, Dutch Kincaid to pitch him at a special "Dutch Kincaid Day" at Yankees Stadium. 3:00AM #221 “Uncle Sam Wants You” Enchanted by Frasier and Lilith's son Fredrick, Sam begins to spend all of his free time with the boy. It gets to the point where he develops a bond with the toddler which leads him to wonder if he should have a child of his own. GS: Peta Wilcox, Tress MacNeille 3:30AM #251 “The Magnificent Six” With Woody and Kelly on their honeymoon, and Cheers being shorthanded, Sam persuades Henri (Kelly's old French flame) to actually stay and work. Henri decides to liven up the place by having a contest with Sam to see who gets the most phone numbers from beautiful women. Sam declines until his gang declares him "dead" and Henri insults American manhood. GS: Anthony Cistaro, Ronny Graham, Eddie Jones, Sondra C Baker, Jennifer Gatti, Jeri Gaile, Leilani Jones. 4:00AM #272 “The Guy Can’t Help It” Sam comes to the painful realization that he is a "sex addict." On the good advice of Frasier, Sam agrees to join a therapy group for fellow sex addicts. 4:30AM #273 “One for the Road Part I” It's a typical evening at Cheers as the gang gathers round the bar watching the Cable ACE Awards show on TV, with the guys tuning in to see supermodel Kim Alexis, who is slated to win an award. However, they are shocked when the beautiful blonde presents the award - a writing prize for a screenplay - to Sam's old flame Diane Chambers. His feelings for his old love momentarily rekindled, Sam telephones Diane in California and leaves her a message congratulating her on her achievement. Not surprisingly, Diane returns Sam's phone call and the two are soon catching up on each other's lives. Diane tells Sam that she is happily married to a man named Reed and has children. Sam, not wanting to look like a loser, says the same. He then makes the fatal mistake of inviting Diane to visit him and Cheers sometime soon. To nobody's surprise but Sam's, she takes him up on the offer and soon arrives at the bar. Meanwhile, Rebecca's relationship with Don the Plumber appears to be heating up to the boiling point. He arrives at the bar to ask Rebecca marry him, only Rebecca is unable to say yes, no matter how hard she tries. A humiliated Don storms out of the bar, leaving a devastated Rebecca alone to ponder the meaning of losing the only man she has ever truly loved. GS: Kim Alexis, Mike Ditka, Gregg Berger, Richard Hamilton, Mitchell Lictenstein, David Froman, Carla Manning 5:00AM #274 “One for the Road Part II” When Diane arrives at Cheers, Sam realizes he has come up with a "wife" to avoid being caught in a lie. Thinking quickly, he turns to Rebecca and begs her to pose as Mrs. Sam Malone. Rebecca is a mess over losing Don with her hair disheveled and constantly bursting into tears at a moment's notice, but she cleans up as best she can and joins Sam, Diane and Reed for dinner. Everything is going smoothly until Don bursts into the restaurant and declares his love for Rebecca, asking her again to marry him. She is finally able to say yes, the happy couple leaves the restaurant, and Sam is left looking like a fool. A few minutes later, Reed's gay lover arrives, furious that Reed left him for a woman. Reed explains that he is only doing his friend Diane a favor and hastily hurries out after his lover. Humiliated and embarrassed, Sam and Diane are left to face up to their lies, realizing their six years apart have been empty, and that they still have feelings for each other. Before long, they rekindle their once-passionate romance and, to the dismay of the Cheers gang, announce that they plan to get married. 5:30AM #275 “One for the Road Part III” When Sam fills the Cheers gang in on his plan to marry Diane and leave the bar to move to California with her, his friends are understandably upset. Angry at their lack of support, he heads to the airport on a sour note to begin his "new life." However, while waiting for the plane to take off, Sam and Diane both experience severe second thoughts. When they finally find the courage to discuss their feelings, they realize that, as much as they love each other, their relationship just can't work. Sadder but a little wiser, they wish each other luck and bid each other a warm farewell. Deeply depressed, Sam returns to Cheers hoping for comfort from the gang. But the gang coldly fills him in on the fact that, contrary to what he believes, they have lives too. Rebecca has married Don, Woody has been sworn in to the City Council, Cliff and Norm have a new government job and Frasier has reconciled with Lilith. They all leave the bar, leaving Sam alone. But a moment later return to tell Sam that their coldness was a well-deserved joke. They stay at Cheers until the wee hours, smoking cigars and talking about their lives. Norm is the last to leave, and before he goes, he reminds Sam that Cheers is the one thing that he has in life that he loves the most. Sitting alone in his bar, Sam finally realizes how lucky, and happy, he truly is. |
