Is he going to AA? That would certainly reinforce staying sober. If you think you need it, there’s always Al Anon for the partner of an alcoholic (in recovery or not.). Wishing you the best!

Thanks, everyone! We are chatting often and while we haven't been able to see each other yet, it will be a matter of weeks. I am so excited and look forward to our chats. He told me he's in AA and while he might be lying, it's why if it works I plan to commute for months (he lives 4 hours away) until I move down there. Oddly, I have been getting calls for counseling jobs near him so if that happens it will be sooner rather than later.
