The Christmas Party! (Part 1)

Janet is staying with Chrissy and Jack again for a few days, just like the old times back in the 70s and 80s.

Note: This chapter will be long.

Jack: Janet? Can you get that?

Chrissy: Is that Mrs. Turner?

Janet: I think so.

Janet: Oh hi Mrs. Turner.

Mrs. Turner: Hi Janet. Here's the stuff to give to The Ropers.

Chrissy: I thought you were going to tell them already.

Mrs. Turner: I did, but they will be late.

Janet: Why?

Mrs. Turner: Mrs. Roper is practicing for some music thing that she'll be playing at tomorrow, and Mr. Roper is stuck driving in this snowy weather.

Chrissy: I hope he's alright.

Jack: I'm sure he will be Chrissy. Don't worry about it.

Mrs. Turner: You guys will be fine, I just know you will. Let me know if you need anything, alright?

Jack: OK Mrs. Turner.

Mrs. Turner: See you at the party later!

Janet: Want to get changed? I went shopping earlier.

Chrissy: What did you get for me?

Janet: Well, I got this nice dress made with lace.

Chrissy: Let me try it on!

Jack: Let me take a picture with my phone.

Janet: Let's wait until The Ropers arrive first.

A few minutes later...

*The doorbell rings

Chrissy: I'll get it this time.

Chrissy: It's Mr. Roper!

Janet: I'm coming!

All three are now downstairs.

Mr. Roper: Sorry I'm late everyone. This snow just really drives me nuts.

Jack: I don't blame you. The cold weather isn't my thing either.

Mr. Roper: Oh! These must be all the items for the party.

Janet: Yes it is everything.

Mr. Roper: You have a very nice tree Jack. Is that yours?

Jack: Yes it is.

*The doorbell rings again

Mr. Roper: It's Mrs. Turner I'm sure.

Mrs. Turner: Hi Kevin. Is your wife back yet?

Janet: What are you doing here?

Mrs. Turner: I'm just waiting for your wife. I want to talk to her about something.

Not long after Mrs. Turner arrives...

Mrs. Roper: I'm finally home!

Mrs. Turner: Did you get the lead part Cin?

Mrs. Roper: Lead part of what?

Mrs. Turner: You told me that you auditioned for some big jazz horn solo in that band of yours.

Mrs. Roper: Want to talk about it? I want to keep it a secret from the others.

Mrs. Turner: That would be great.

Ah. You see, I was a millennial (born in 1999), so I grew up as a 2000's kid.

For a 2000s kid, you sure have good taste in entertainment. Most kids wouldn't know what any of these shows are called or heard of the cast members.

Conversation between Mrs. Roper and Mrs. Turner

Mrs. Turner: Where's your room?

Mrs. Roper: Right this way Lana.

*Mrs. Turner sits in a chair*

Mrs. Roper: I got the lead part!

Mrs. Turner: Knew you would get it. Now what instrument do you play again?

Mrs. Roper: You don't know what I play?

Mrs. Turner: No. I'm old, so my memory doesn't work as well like it used to many years ago.

Mrs. Roper: I can play a little piano because I used to take lessons a long time ago as a child. But my main instrument now is the trumpet.

Mrs. Turner: And how long have you been playing that?

Mrs. Roper: Since I was in elementary school. I was older though.

Mrs. Turner: I bet you are a great player. Wish I could see you play in action!

Mrs. Roper: Your wish is my command! You look tired, so please go to sleep if you want to.

*Mrs. Roper plays a soft tune

Lana: So relaxing... I could actually fall asleep to this.

Mrs. Turner ends up falling asleep.

Mrs. Turner: Can you do a piece using that mute of yours?

Mrs. Roper: Of course I can.

*Mrs. Roper does another piece, but with a mute this time

Lana: MMMMM... That's the music I used to hear back in the day.

Later...

Mrs. Roper: Wake up!

Mrs. Turner: Huh? Oh. I must have been in a deep sleep.

Mrs. Roper: You sure were. My playing must have put you to sleep!

Mrs. Turner: More playing later though, because that was fun.

Mrs. Roper: I would love to do more for you my sweet friend.

Me too! They sure don't have shows like that anymore. Do you also like Seinfeld?

All four of them. The characters were well-written and perfectly cast. I really like their Festivus thing. Unique!

A Surprise Visitor!

Mr. and Mrs. Roper are seen sleeping either late at night or early in the morning.

A knock on the door followed by a doorbell ringing is heard.

Mrs. Roper: Kevin, can you get that?

Mr. Roper: Why is this person here? It’s pitch black out.

Mrs. Roper: Maybe it’s my loud trumpet playing.

Mr. Roper heads downstairs and finds out that the visitor is a police officer. And a familiar one too.

The police officer has white/gray hair and a pair of glasses.

Police Officer: Were you the one causing all that racket?

Mr. Roper: When was this?

Police Officer: Yesterday.

Mr. Roper: Wasn’t me. Talk to my musician wife about it.

The police officer walks up to Mrs. Roper.

Police Officer: I’m assuming you were causing all that racket.

Mrs. Roper: Well, I’m used to playing loud music because I have experience in jazz.

Police Officer: Doesn’t matter. Somebody filed a noise complaint about this.

Mrs. Roper: Sorry about that.

Police Officer: Just don’t do it again. If you do, something will be done about it.

Mrs. Roper: I’ll try not to.

Police Officer: Great. Let me know if something’s wrong or if you just need anything.

Mr. Roper: Will do.

Police Officer: Sorry to bother the both of you, I’ll let you two go back to sleep now.
