Huh? Your response certainly implies that the MPI release did not include the original theme. If that's not what you meant, then why did you post that? It's a misleading response. I haven't bought any of the releases and I was making up my mind to buy this new CBS release (as opposed to MPI) based on your response because I want the original theme included. But if the MPI release has the original theme as well, then we're back to the OP's question (that you didn't answer, or didn't answer correctly): What's the point of this CBS release?

Little Ricky, although I have said that I enjoy the MPI sets, if you don't have any yet, I would recommend waiting for the CBS set for the simple reason that the season 1 Christmas episode is not included in the MPI set, but rather was packaged on a separate release along with the Christmas episode from season 1 of Petticoat Junction and a later TBH Christmas episode. It does, remain to be seen what, if any extras are included on the CBS set. As I said earlier, the MPI set includes cast commercials, as well as episode introductions by Linda Kay Henning.

Even though I already own the MPI versions, I'll be picking this up simply because of the missing Christmas episode (it'll be nice having all season 1 episodes in one set) and CBS usually does a great job with picture remastering.

I agree, what's the point?

However, hopefully this is a sign that the remainder of the series is coming; followed by the remainder of GREEN ACRES and PETTICOAT JUNCTION (keep your fingers crossed)

Thanks! I would definitely want a complete season, so the CBS release wins. I would like the Linda Kay Henning interview as well, but having the complete episodes is more important to me. I appreciate your response.

I just wonder if these will include the same special features as the MPI sets.

The MPI releases were produced in conjunction with the Paul Henning estate who owned copyrights to the first two seasons only as I recall. I assume CBS cleared up the copyrights to the first two seasons in order to release it now. CBS has owned seasons 3 - 9 since production.

I wish they would have released a complete series collection now, but I am guessing with 9 seasons and 274 episodes, it might have been costly to release all in one release. I just hope all 9 seasons are released soon because I want them, although the first 3 or 4 seasons are the best.

I really like the show, but not enough to buy it, I'd rather rent it. I do consider the first 3 seasons good enough to buy though. But a few of those later episodes for instance those stupid "womens lib" ones.

I'd rather someone release the complete series and be done with it. I'm shocked that with "Cheers", "Family Ties", "The Andy Griffith Show", "The Brady Bunch", "Laverne & Shirley", "Mork & Mindy" and even "Bosom Buddies" completed that "The Beverly Hillbillies" isn't yet. I'd buy a complete series in an instant. I wish CBS would license more.
