For me, that would have to have been Steve Allen. Even though I am not that familiar with what he did as far as acting goes, I will remember Mr. Allen the most for having formed the Parents Television Council.

Besides Christopher Hewett, here's another recent death;

Lorenzo Music--best known as Carlton the Doorman on RHODA, and the voice of GARFIELD.

Speaking of UFS Cartoons, when Charles Schulz died, it was clearly a sign that the 20th Century was over.

And Phil Hartman's death didn't just screw up NewsRadio, it screwed up about 10% of television shows that were on the air at the time. Okay, maybe that's an exaggeration, but you've got to admit he got into a lot of projects, and when he died, thousands of scripts, storylines and other projects had to be either re-written or scrapped.

McLean Stevenson from M*A*S*H. It's like he died twice:

1. In 1975, when Radar walked into the OR and announced, "....Lt. Col. Henry Blake's plane was shot down over the Sea of Japan....It spun in....There were no survivors."

2. In 1996, when Stevenson died for real.

Carroll O' Connor
Walter Matthau
Ray Walston
Jack Lemmon

***even though I wasn't born until 1984, I would have to say it was sad when Elvis died in 1977****

Edited to say: I forgot to mention Dana Plato. It was sad reading about her being on Howard Stern and people called in to insult her. Ironic that she died the next day, I wonder what those people were thinking that called in on Howard Stern and insulted her and then she died the next day....

Also, doesn't anybody think its kind of odd that Jack Lemmon died so close to Walter Matthau's death. They were such close friends and both such wonderful actors.

I was really stunned when Andy Kaufman died, not to mention Lloyd Bridges, Richard Mulligan, Carrol O' Connor, and I cried my eyes out when Jack Lemmon died.

Dana Plato was sad, but honestly I was more saddened when (to go off the list) Phil Hartman and Chris Farley died.

Pointless and a waste, all of them.

I wasn't around when Lucille Ball died in 1989, but my mom really liked her and she told me about it, so probably most saddened by her death. You didn't put John Ritter on the list. I was really sad when he died.

The day that John Ritter died was probably one of the saddest days of my life. Everybody tells me that I take the whole John Ritter thing to far, but I really don't care what they say. I love him so much, and when he died I was in total shock. I spent the whole day crying my eyes out. I still can't believe that he is really gone. I see this lively person on Three's Company, and other shows and movies and I just can't believe that he is no longer with us. He will always be with me in my heart. I will always love him forever.

I love and miss you John.

John Ritter and Dana Plato were both pretty sad, I was about ten when Lucy died and I wasn't really familiar with her work at the time so I didn't understand why everyone made such a big deal when it happened, though I would've been upset had I been older and found out.
