Default Mine..long reply-Re: My favorites Looney toon!

Elmer Fudd:Be vewy,vewy quiet!I'm hunting wabbit!
His greatest include.."Robot Rabbit" [1953], "Duck Rabbit Duck" [1953], "Hare Do" [1949], "What Makes Daffy Duck" [1948], and "Slick Hare" [1947}.

Yosemite Sam:Yosemite-Sam-From outer-*Boum*-[Space!!!!!
My favorite of his,and the best Warner cartoon.....the best IMO in fact.. cartoon of all is 1960's "From Hare to Heir", with Bugs Bunny as a accountant in a royal setting. Sam lets Bugs monitor his behavior per agrement so that Sam can recieve many pounds (not the weight type, the United Kingdom currency type of pounds), but with Sam's usual temperment, he instantly lows the money more and more..ending is a REAL surprise that I will not even spoil here!

Quote:
Peppey the Pew:L'amour toujours l'amour!!!! [/B]
I love that! Ya know, that's a real song..composed in 1922 by Rudoph Friml (sic), (1879-1972), a Russian composer, and songwriter Catherine Chisholm Cushing (her only known songwriting credit)--I have a old 1952 10 inch 33-1/3rpm record by the composer!BTW it's Pepe LePew!

I'll name some I also like..Foghorn, ah, say Foghorn Leghorn, and some minor/one-shots.Ironically, Michigan J.Frog is not on the below list, but here are some I know and love..

Dodsworth..a Garfield like cat only fatter and black-furred with white belly, who was lazy and used a cross eyed little white kitten to do his dirty (or any work.) Appeared in "Kiddin' the Kitten" [April 5, 1952], and "A Peck O'Trouble" [March 28,1953], both directed by Taz and Foggy creator Robert McKimson.

TRIVIA NOTE! Sheldon Leonard [February 22-also Drew Barrymore's birthday years later!-February 22l 1907-1997), the great thespian-tuined-producer/director,etc. of MAKE ROOM FOR DADDY/THE DANNY THOMAS SHOW [NBC-TV/CBS-TV, 1953-1967], ANDY GRIFFITH/MAYBERRY R.F.D. [CBS-TV, 1960-1968], DICK VAN DYKE SHOW [ABC-TV, 1961-1965], and I SPY [ABC-TV, 1965-68], the first (relavitely, at least!) serious use of a black actor (Bill Cosby) and of course the subject of a recent movie, anyway, Sheldon Leonard, repsobile for those propertie,s was the voice of Dodsworth rather than Mel Blanc (BTW many non-Blanc Warner cartoons never had any voice credit since of course,Blac was the only one to receive credit until the late 1950s). He also did the voiice of LINUS THE LIONHEARTED (Post cereal CRISPY CRITTERS ads of the 60s, and 70s,m and his own cartoon show-a cartoon first thogh such "product driven shows" were even then a huge stapple of TV.Sorry to ramble..Leonard was Linus the Lion-hearted).Incidentally, Mel Blanc, leading voice artist that he was, did a few laughs for Doddsy.

CHOW HOUND:Chuck Jones created this tough watchdog, homelss but with the heklpo of a cat (who forgets the gravy every time), scams food from oeople! (WHAT!!! NO GRAVY!!!!). If you watch CATS AND DOGS, the Warner Bros.movie, with the voices of Michael Clarke Duncan, Alec Baldwin, Charlton Heston, Susan Sarandon, etc.you'll see a clip of this toon when the kids are watching TV! (Note-Warners directors seem to like this stuff..EYES WIDE SHUT with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, directed by the great Stanley Kubrick in his last flick, 1999, has a brief exceprt from a BB TV special, BUGS XMAS tales. In fact New Line Cinema, before Warners acccquired it, had in Thora (GHOST WORLD, AMERICAN BEUATY) Birch's preteen animal flick, MONKEY TROUBLE,1994, a clip of a Warners short, Freleng's WABBIT WHO CAME TO SUPPER, one of severl lWorld War II era fat Fudd toons!)

Getting back to CHOW HOUND, the title character has this cat sleazily sneak steaks from folks by posing and their resptcive cat! Of course the cat is a reluctant participant in helping the dog, who also enslaves (for the same purpose) a little mouse. Comical but very disturbing..if you go to www.toonzone.net to TERMITE TERRACE TRADING POST, there is a posting on such "Scary" old time cartoons (with siome modern stuff as the SIMPSONS and SOUTH PARK episodes added--perosnally I would consider ANY episode of those two scary but for DIFFERENT reasons )
In the end, the sinister dog's persona (now with the mutt in the VET's place) is TOPPED by the vengeful cat and mouse who "THIS time"...didn't forget the gravy.."

BTW although as usual Mel Blanc created many fine voices for this, even reprising Bugs Bunny for the cat as he did for other characters (like Charlie Dog, another Chuck Jones toon,at Warnrs and otuside, Heathcliff..), ironically it's a radio actor (think Phil Hendrie of zany talk radio fame transposed back to the days on radio before TV..Mel Blanc also was on radio as were many other voice actors), named John T.Smith (NOT Pocahontas's boyfrtiend,Mel Gibson fans!) did the voice of the tough dog-he's also the voice among others, pof the similairly named blue collar construction dude in 1950's HOMELESS HARE and 1953's NO PARKING HARE.

ELMO, DAISY LOU and BLACKIE from Art Davis's "A Hick, A SLCIK AND A CHICK" (1947) Elmo is a country bumpkin mouse (voiced by Mel Blanc and possibly in some spots outisde his drunken self, by Stan Freberg), Blackie's the suave Duke Ellington-wanna be pianist slicker Regie Mantle-like (adult not teen though!) mouse (voiced by Mel Blanc) and Daisy (voiced by Bea Benadaret) is the cute blonde girl mouse (shades of Reese Witherspoon in 2001's LEGALLY BLONDE and its upcoming sequel this July-looking like the 1940s group the Andrews Sisters-the middle blonde one, patty, to be exact-Laverne and Maxene were the others). Elmo's dating Daisy Lou who's in the smooth arms of Blackie.Soon Elmo's questing for Ermine, and tangles with a Sylvesteer type cat;.whiile drunk but still gets the fur and thus his girl.Blackie gets punched by the cat who takes on the persona of comedian lgend Jimmy Durante (UMBRIAGO!!!!)
(Bea Benaderet did many radio and Warner cartoon voices..toonwise she's best known as Betty Rubble and live acvtion in Petticoat Junction and Burns and Allen in the fifties..she was the original choice of Lucille Ball, pre-Viv Vance to play ETHEL Mertz but Benadaret's radio contract forbade her!Bea also did the voice of the housewifes in KIDDIN'THE KITEN,vited above and in CHOW HOUND.Also memorable for Jones's Mama bear and Frelng's Granny, and McKimson;'s Prissy, though June Foray took over those last two.
Pete Puma: Bugs Bunny's rival, voiced by Stan Frberg ala zany comic Frank Fontaine.

The various come-to-life characters (GOOFY GROCERIES,SEPT.IN THE RAIN,etc.) of the 1930s, 1940s, and the 1960 Chuck Jones reival HIGH NOTE.

ANd ofr MAJOR LT's..
D-d-d-d-dont forget PORKY PIG,FOLKS!

All of them myself especially Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner and the Coyote's attempts in getting the Road Runner. My favorite one is where he tries to get a piano up to the top of the mountain to squash the Road Runner and then the rope doesn't give way for the Coyote and he gets up there and the rope gives way and the piano and him go down with it and when it goes down they show him playing Taps with his teeth like piano keys.

That last goes down in history (along with "A Bird in a Bomnnett","Gopher Boprke, pre-Hystericla Hare, Hip Hip Hurry, and WeaselWhile you Work as one-the one you describe is by the way named Hook, Line, and Stinker, -of six made, during a 1957 musicians stirke. Ergo the music was borrowed from a number of music libaries later on Ren and Stimpy (CARTOON MUSIC,editor: researcher Dan Goldmark, in a seciton by Joe Lanza, no relaiton to Mario the 50s tenor, has a whole section on this stuff). Ole George/Capitol production/Seely-Loose, Mutel, and Major libraries music were heard throughout these six ones.
