Solomon, did you not hear that there will be a Married...with Children marathon weekend of June 27-28??

clj2, it sure looks like it. I remember when ION wanted to move away from Mama's Family, and it seems TV Land is trying to do the same here with Andy. But at least Andy is still on, whether it just be for weekend blocks or not.

I can understand them wanting to distance themselves from Andy Griffith in primetime, but middays/late afternoons/early evenings? I couldn't see it skewing any older than the westerns and The Beverly Hillbillies.

I'm not sure Beaver really got a fair chance at noon. Extreme Makeover has been airing there for a while...not exactly the same audience....give the Beaver audience longer to find the show! Outside of us/folks on the TV Land forums...how much of the audience really knows about every weeks schedule changes? I'm not sure Good Times is really the best lead-in either. I like both shows and I know others do too, but I think The Andy Griffith Show and The Brady Bunch are probably the best lead-ins for Beaver.

Yeah, I remember Mama's Family -- it vanished from ION (along with the rest of the library shows) even though it was getting very good ratings and was the head of the network. TV Land seems to be doing the same thing. I have a very, very hard time seeing Beaver and Andy (which were always paired) not garnering sufficient ratings to air during the day. They always did well. So I definately think demos is the thing here. I bet we will see another CSI sighting. I bet the westerns will be next to go, or be whacked down.

Remember if they don't renew M*A*S*H, Jeffersons, and Green Acres (which isn't even airing) will be goners come August. I don't think any will be renewed. M*A*S*H is in a very tough spot. Jeffersons can easily be replaced. Acres is probably already gone. Again, Andy needs to be allowed to expire and go to Hallmark. It would be perfect over there. Perfect fit along with M*A*S*H, Lucy, LHOTP (which all seem to be doing well).

I really don't know what to make of this. So Married with Children bombed in primetime, but it must have done astoundingly well over the weekend. I'm still not sure if Roseanne is doing good in bad. Now its got morning airings, more primetime airings, and the same 5 hours in latenight. Honestly, I think Roseanne is airing more than any other show has ever aired on TV Land before. It has to be doing well.

And on the clock? This schedule is already looking up. It'll be interesting to see if ratings will go back up because off the clock is gone. Perhaps TV Land should start advertising "And Come July, you can watch your favorite shows ON TIME!"

Where on earth do you make these judgments, Julie?? No one said no such thing about it "bombing." In fact I keep saying MWC is doing well! It is doing more better really than Roseanne. First you said Roseanne was doing well when TV Land over aired Roseanne for all of primetime last week and it only mustered 550,000 viewers or so, now with this MWC "bombing" stuff? Come on.

And yes, Brent, off-the-clock will continue in July. But it will be better than before it seems, with just probably in PRIME.

Well that's just peachy since the only time I watch TV Land is during PRIME.

Oh well, Roseanne episodes start over on July 13th(yes already, lol) so I'll probably be largely done with TV Land after that.

at this Roseanne. It's a joke. Air it until 1 or 2am, fine, but this is a joke. Why even advertise the July 4th thing as a stunt? Here we have all of this Roseanne....OK, that works for now, but what about when the fans get sick of it being on night after night?

They need some more 'recent' shows instead of the same one all night. Why isn't MWC already airing daily if it's working? That's where I'm confused.

None of the August shows have been renewed -- I bet we can kiss them goodbye. Pavan...think any of them have a chance? They are clearly NOT what TV Land is wanting now. I still don't see how Extreme Makeover can do better from 12-1 than Beaver/Andy Griffith.

OK, I need some things explained:

1) What does TV Land hope to gain by going off the clock? I speak for a lot of people when I say that it drives me up the wall. Can you imagine my surprise when a new episode of MWC started to air at 8:15?

2) Also, why is TV Land recutting their shows to insert act breaks in random places? I remember when they used to air Cosby that they'd go to commercial at the end of act one and again right before the credits. Now, they're going to commercial every five minutes. What the hell?

3) I honestly think TV Land should pick up Mama's Family.

4) They really need to kill Prime. It sucks. Many of its "original programming" hasn't worked. And honestly, I don't care if "she" has the look or not. What if she doesn't? Then what, TV Land?

I'd switch over to Hallmark or Retro, but I don't have either channel. Thanks, Comcast.

Amen to all of this. And as far as the breaks go, did anyone notice (and thye're not the only one) they have 2 more minutes of ads than they used to? Their half hour program lengths used to be in the 22 min. range; now they're 20. ION used to sometimes be in the 19-20 minute range. How far can they push this stuff?

Sorry to quote myself, but kudos to WGN Am for their retro stuff--all of it is in the 23-24 minute range. With Newhart many times they have almost the full network version (sometimes even with the "Next on Newhart" included--that's probably an editing error somewhere).

But Roseanne has completely taken over TV Land primetime-lol. Married with Children isn't airing anyway besides that big weekend marathon. So, it must have done well last weekend, but must not be so hot in primetime. I find that to be a simple judgment, don't you?

And as I said before, seems like Roseanne is doing best in latenight, where the standards are lower. It's still airing 11pm-4am, afterall.

And now off the clock will continue in primetime - whether or not its as bad as before is besides the question. Off the clock has to be hurting their ratings, but as long as TV Land can get in those extra commercials, what difference does it make?

Looks to me like it will be as bad as before. Did you see the grids I linked to in the June thread? The Roseanne July 4th marathon will be off the clock from like 9pm-4am.

Here is what I don't understand....I'm not disputing here, we've all seen the numbers (not exactly for MWC, but I believe what's being said). Roseanne isn't doing great, but it's airing from 11pm-4am, getting those weekend airings, that 7/4 marathon, gets another marathon in primetime. MWC does well but isn't airing in July. LITB/TAGS are their highest rated 50s/60s sitcoms yet they aren't even on the daytime/morning schedule. I guess I don't understand where this is coming from. I find EM:HE doing better than those 2 pretty hard to believe.

I watched Roseanne for 4 hours last night. Those commercial breaks are unbearable. The break after the opening credits has to be about 6 minutes long. I swear, I can't take it.

I don't get it either. Roseanne can't be doing great, but its airing just about all the time. It's airing for at least 4 hours every weeknight. I really don't know what to make of this schedule.

I hate those breaks right after the openings. I would rather just have a commercial break inbetween episodes instead. Lets see, commercials, tag scene (no closing credits either

), opening credits, commercials. UGH! I wonder if although Roseanne didn't do well overall, it did well in the demo they want? Or maybe they want newer shows at night, but just don't have many now so they are using Cosby and Roseanne and tossing ratings for demos. Still don't understand why MWC is leaving when it does well.

Let me just add, I hate that blue 'ticker' they use in place of the credits on Andy Griffith, Hillbillies, Married, and Leave it to Beaver to name a few. I wonder why they leave the closing credits intact for some shows (Good Times, LHOTP, Green Acres) but not others?
