I love shopping at Meijer's!! We don't have them in FL, but whenever I'm in OH or IN(which is often), I'll stop in there, especially during the holidays because they have the best holiday decorations.

Anyways, I got home at 7am (which used to be the time I'd go to work), and was asleep by 9am. I woke up at 4pm and plan to stay up through work.

Third shift is nice because there's no bosses around, and you can drink a pop on the floor, while you're working. You can even eat while you're working, which I didn't do, but it's nice to know that I can.

So, I'm all for the third shift hours.
now all you need to do is learn how to mop while sleeping !

Do you:

A. Eat before you go to work

B. Get a break to eat

C. Purchase stuff at Safeway to eat

D. Other

It depends on how long my shift is- if it's 6 or more hours, I get a lunch break, so I usually eat then. I buy food from safeway. Did you get the message I sent you?

I've done a couple of long-term third shift stints in my past. One was for Meijer. That was hard work, and combined with the duties and my often-missed lunch or dinner (when I was trying to get as much sleep as possible at home), it was really good for losing weight. At age 29 I could get back into pants I wore in high school...!

The other 3rd was for Signature Inn. I remember being unusually tired one night, so I took a nap on a table in the laundry room. I was lucky I woke up before the 1st shift people were due in, or I would have been really embarrased if they found me sleeping in there...!

i do 3rd shift and have done it for many a years at different jobs. i did it at walgreens and it was a snore. all you did was clean all night and straighten shelves and mop the floor, all the while soft rock would play (which i'm a fan of) but it was a continuous loop of the same 50 songs over and over.
it was like you had your own work soundtrack.

then i worked it at the hospital, which was a very physically demanding and stressful job. but your shift went by so fast because there was always something exciting going on.

and now i'm at the shelter, and though it can be eventful at time, its mostly boring and will be even moreso now that they are closing the shelter and we aren't accepting any new clients. i want to leave but am trying to stay until fall atleast when i go to emt school so i can use my time at night there to work on my schoolwork.

Third Shift isn't so bad, it's usually slower paced & there is less management around to hassle you. But getting enough sleep during the day can be rough.
