Sad news! I always liked his appearances on the show especially when he would ask Mr. J to walk on his back. He is also in one of my favorite tv movies, Babycakes, with Ricki Lake.

Very sad news. Benedict was charming and delightfully odd in his portrayal of Mr. Bentley.

I never realized til I read about his death that he was actually an American! I always thought he was, like his character, British. I never really had read anything about him and aside from Spinal Tap, had never seen him in anything else, so I just assumed....

But it is a sad loss for Jeffersons fans and TV fans in general.

Sad

Very sad indeed. I always enjoyed Mr. Bentley's appearances on the show. His character was at times naive, at times very wise. Rest In Peace, Paul Bendict. You died too young.

Wow, I also never knew he wasn't British!

It sucks that Paul Benedict passed away. The cause of his death is unknown at the moment. RIP.

Probably not. They usually do that only when it's been more of a main star in a show - like Carroll O'Connor when he passed away.

And Yet Another Jeffersons Cast Member is gone. Rest In Peace Paul. It Seems Like Since Roxie Past Away in 1995, They have been going Really Close, Your Had Isabel in 2004 and then Franklin and Mike in 2006.

Has anybody realize that Marla Gibbs (77), Sherman Hemsley (70) and Berlinda Tolbert (59) are the only cast members now still alive? Kinda sad. I can't stop thinking about which one will be next.

Also dose it seem that this is the Norman Lear Show that is losing it Cast Memebers at the fastest rate? I may be looking to much in to it but think about it.

Goodness gracious, I really don't know what to say. For what it's worth, my sincerest condolensces (sp.??) to the Benedict family and to Mr. Benedict's close friends and loved ones. I grew up watching "The Jeffersons" and I always loved "Mr. Bentley." I think Janice said it best when she said that sometimes he was naive on the show and other times, he was very wise. It's obvious in real life and on the stage that he was a very special man, and I am very sorry that he's gone.

Sorry But i don't count Ralph or Jessica Since they weren't in the Main opening credits, you may count them as cast members but i don't. to me they are recuring guest stars. I forgot about the Second Lionel. so that make 4. but still not many left.

It is sad, it seems that alot of shows from the 70s still have just about all the cast members still alive but this show is losing 1 about every 2 years.

It would be nice if the remaining Cast Members could reunite
