He didn't. Here's Hutch with Sue Ann played by Lynn Anderson singing at the end of the Season 2 ep. Walk Down a Short Dirt Road on YouTube.

Stepfanie Kramer of "Hunter" did singing work on-camera and off-camera as well in her later stages of her career.

Teri Hatcher sang on Lois & Clark twice, once during the 1st season and during the 3rd season during the frog eating clone storyline arc. Also Michael Chiklis frequently broke out into opera songs on The Commish and his voice wasnt too shabby. And Bea Arthur sang on The Golden Girls when she was at the Rusty Anchor dive bar in an episode.

Janet Jackson sang The Magic Is Working from her first album on Diff'rent Strokes. I think Dana Plato also sang on the show.

Estelle Getty sang Purple Rain in one episode of the Golden Girls. I remember she was in the back of the house with a walkman on.

Of course, Brandy Norwood got her start on Thea and sang several times including her aunt's wedding.

I agree with Jack G - Jay North on Dennis. It was not really good singing, but it was very touching.

Gomer, Andy, and most of the cast in Mayberry sang.

Barbara Billingsly sang on Leave it to Beaver

I'm just picturing Estelle Getty singing Purple Rain. I must have missed that episode.

Desi Jr. was a member of a trio with Dean Martin's son Dino and someone named Billy--not sure if he was the singer or just played one or the other of the instruments you mentioned.

Also, Freddie Prinze sang a couple of times on the show "Chico and the Man"--just silly improv-type stuff while playing acoustic guitar. He was a great singer, appearing on the Tony Orlando and Dawn Show and singing backup on the title song of their album "To Be with You".

BTW, DCJessica90 I love your avatar! That picture from "Family Matters" is so cute! I have completely drawn a blank and forget who the girl is. The guy is of course Steve Urkel... couldn't ever forget him!
