You and your wife are in my prayers Gene. If there's anything at all we can do to help, please let us know!

Took a quick break, emailing from the public library not far from the hospital. My wife is doing very well, and apparently regaining strength each day. She should start actual physical therapy tomorrow. Even though she feels down somewhat, her overall attitude is a positive one.

She could regain full use of her right leg, estimates go from 80% to 100%. We're going for the 100%! The other question is how long. Even the doctor doesn't know for sure. It could be days, weeks, or months, but it will come back.

Thank you all so much at SO. I truly love you all, friends! I'll keep you updated when I am able.

I'm glad your wife's surgery was a success, Gene. I like those odds too. Post-op blues are common. I'm sure as time goes on, and she starts seeing and feeling results, that she'll be back to her old self again. I was happy to read your post. Keep the good news coming!

Cool

Great to hear that her surgery was a success, Gene! Keep us posted. Will she be able to go home for Thanksgiving?

Yeah, it doesn't surprise me a bit that she might be down. Not just usual post surgery blues, but I think whenever it's brain surgery, there's bruising or something that might make it worse (just a theory). She'll be frustrated that she's not progressing as fast as she thought maybe. I'm sure everyone's different (that's why the docs can't give a timeframe) but she'll make it to that 100%.

Yes, please keep updates coming - we all care Gene.

Hi everyone!

Thanks again all of you for the well wishes, prayers and kind words.

My wife is progressing each day. Where two weeks ago, she could not move her right leg at all, she can already use some muscles all the way down to the calf; only the foot, so far she still cannot move. But she's made such progress in a couple of weeks.

She is in a rigorous physical therapy program, and for at least now, her release date to come home is December 11th. That may be adjusted earlier or later, depending on how she is doing. But I am encouraged. And our son will be on leave from the military and will be home from Germany with us from December 15th through New Years, so he will be a great help and we can all spend some time together.

I have missed you all and hope that you had a great Thanksgiving. I don't know how often I'll be posting for the next several weeks, but know that I wish you guys a Merry Christmas and safe and happy holidays. I keep you all in my heart and prayers as well. I will update and post when I can.

Gene

Gene, I'm very happy to hear that your wife is on the mend. Baby steps, but she'll get there. I'm so happy that she has a great support system. That importance of that cannot be overstated. We miss you, but you're a man whose priorities are firmly in the right place. I'm so glad you checked in.
