I don't know if this explains it, but on the TV Land board, people are always complaining about them skipping episodes and the answer from TV Land is that they have a contract to play all the episodes an equal number of times. So they can't play the favorites all the time either in order or in marathons. Doesn't make much sense to me, but that's what they say.

I think TV Land is saying that sometimes they hold episodes out of the regular run (on weekdays and weekends) so they can put them on marathons. Then other times they choose less "popular" episodes for marathons, because the favorites have already shown so often over the length of their contract (which could be a couple of years). The point is by the end of the contract period, TV Land has to show all the episodes an equal number of times. As I said, it makes no sense to me. Hope that at least clears up TV Land's explanation.

Yeah, that makes sense to me. But if that's the way it has to be, I wish they would call it something other than a "best of" marathon.
