Basically, the toilet flushing comes down to protecting your personal health vs. protecting that of others. Personally I prefer the ones that flush automatically (see below, though) - but otherwise I'll just flush via the hand, and wash my hands.
---
That said: Why does it seem like, with the automatic flushers, they only flush when you sit on them - I can't speak for anyone else, but the one time this has happened to me, I was just a bit...disturbed.

Um. Don't you two ladies wash your hands RIGHT AFTERWARDS? You could always take a wad of TP, hold it in your hand when you flush the toilet, ditch the TP in the flushing toilet and wash yer hands.

That's the thing I just don't understand. Your hands are _ALREADY_ DIRTY when you go in to do your thing (OMG HAY THE STALL LATCH HAS GERMS ON IT TOO), so the "adding germs to your hand" concept is pointless.

And, THANK YOU, Zoneboy. You ACTUALLY understand.

Glad to help. I ran into that problem years ago myself. It's one of these weird but common problems with no obvious solution (i.e. your hard drive is full; delete things to free up space, and empty recycle bin too).

You should be clearing out yer temporary internet files on a semi-regular basis anyway -- maybe once every month or two -- just to help keep things running smoothly.

Yes I wash my hands afterward, BUT I still don't want to touch anything that has other people fecal matter on it. When I unlock the door to the toilet I use tissue same when I lock it. After I wash my hands I'll open the door with paper towels. Having strangers pee and poop bacterial on my hands doesn't thrill me at all.

I am one of those people too. I mean, some people may have feces/urine on their hand and then touch the handle. And I also do what you do abt the door handle and the door to the bathroom.

If you have and there's no problems then more than likely the unit is defective because this doesn't sound right at all. Does the unit have automatic tracking? If it does, Try it manually and see what happens.

If you just bought it recently, The place you got it from will most likely exchange it or give you refund. I've gone thru several VCR's in my lifetime but don't recall ever having this type of problem. If you have a head cleaning tape, You might want to try that if you haven't already done so. I can't see the problem being in the tapes especially since you've tried recording on more than one.
Thanks. I'm going to have to test all that and get back to you. All I know is that we're working off one stupid tape, lol.

I do have an observation, though. This one grosses me out AND pisses me off. I get really grossed out when somebody is in a public bathroom, and they flush the toilet with their foot. UGH - would you flush your own toilet at home with your foot?? Then WHY are you flushing a public toilet with your foot?? You have no idea what kind of germs and bacteria are lurking on your shoes. All kinds of urine and feces, food, dirt, gum, etc. But MOST ESPECIALLY urine, because you KNOW there are idiots who hover over the toilet (another thing that pisses me off) AND they always manage to get urine on the floor. NASTY. This also makes NO SENSE to me, because if you are a hygienic person, you will flush the toilet WITH YOUR HAND and then you will come out AND wash your hands right afterwards. You are just putting more gross bacteria on the toilet handle for the other people going in after you.

Yeah, but I know who's touched my toilet handle at home. I have no idea who or what has touched that public handle (hell, toilet splash from the flush could have gotten on it), so I'd rather my shoe touch it. I'm not touching my shoe with my hands, so my chance of germs is pretty nil. If you exclude the seat itself of course, but that's a whole different matter.

You need those self-flush toilets. I personally despise those, mostly because they seem to like to flush while I'm still sitting on it, but it sounds like your ideal toilet.

Me either. And who really knows the degree of effectiveness of the soap they provide? I don't know how antibacterial/viral that stuff is.

I will never, never, never flush a toilet with my hand.

it's interesting how in a waiting room, if a baby comes in, all the women stare at it, while the men keep watching tv.

On certain websites, when I hit the back button, I lose the site. It always happens with my online banking site and the thingy that I log onto here at SO to ban members or to check IPs....other sites too. Drives me crazy sometimes.

Does anyone eat the crusts from a loaf of sliced bread? I made two grilled cheese and tomato sandwiches today. It worked out perfectly, and all that was left over was the two end crust slices. I threw it away.

Most of the time I do. Depends on how dry they are.

Very true, and their eyes fall out of their heads when a knockout walks through the door, lol.

Where I was sitting, there were no knockouts to be had. I think if a woman walked in with a full set of teeth, we were lucky.

I really cannot understand why people can't mean what they say or say what they mean. Are they just....chicken? Or, what? It really pisses me off.
