I always buy that book when new addtions come out. It is almost 99% accurate. It's a good book to reference to.

first off, parker lewis and parker lewis can't loose were the sam show, just different versions... what happened is when 90210 became a hit the network decided that PLCL needed a new look to fit with the networks new image, so they added new camera angels and changed hte cast a little bit.. and also the name was changed to Parker Lewis.. thats all..

Don't forget Bionic Woman was spun off from Six Million Dollar Man. They wouldn't call it Six Million Dollar Woman because it implied she was an expensive lady of the evening.

...spin-off in the history of TV was "Family Matters" which was a spin off of "Perfect Strangers"---Harriet Winslow was the security guard at the department store where the boys worked, and most people don't know that Steve Urkel wasn't even a regular character in the pilot or the first several episodes. They wrote a show about the "neighbor from hell" who got a crush on the Winslow daughter, cast an unknown kid who'd done a few commercials named Jaleel White, and about halfway through rehearsal realized they could NOT let him go--the chemistry, especially with Reggie VelJohnson, was so perfect that the show went on to NINE YEARS of success. Talk about a spin-off that worked! BTW, while not directly a plot spin-off, the production/writing team responsible for Family Matters also did "Built To Last" which, alas, didn't.
