Eunice Just plain cracks me up, lol. Does anyone know of a network that airs "The Carol Burnett" show? I am only 14, and I watched their reunion thing, and I want to watch this show BAD!

Seems like every time they got into an argument, everybody would just dump on Eunice, or find some way to pick on her. Sure she's nasty and sets herself up it, but I tend to look at her as the underdog.
Mama came right out and said herself that Ellen was her favorite, so naturally she's going to side with Ellen, no matter how right or wrong she may be, over Eunice. There were a few episodes, such as the one where Eunice and Mama ended up in jail on Eunice's birthday, and the one where Eunice got an acting part at the Pepperpot Playhouse, that I thought delved pretty good into Eunice's character. Eunice always wanted to be a star, and would get quite delusional, but about the only support from her family she'd ever get was "wake up and smell the coffee". I think deep down inside, Eunice tried to be a good person, it's kind of hard when all your family does is pick on you! Sure, Eunice would get nasty (and the biggest laughs) in every episode she appeared in (all of 5, I think). But it always seemed that someone would push her into it...either Naomi, Mama, Ed, Ellen, or the snobs at the Pepperpot Playhouse! |

Andre 1969 has said what I have always felt. EVERYBODY picked on Eunice. Like when Vint and Naomi got married and Eunice came to the Bachellorette party everyone was talking about Eunice but they didn't know she was listening. When she defended herself Mama turned aganst her and sided with her heart Ellen. So that left Euice no choice but to tell Ellen that her precious husband Bruce was having an affair with his secretary Peggy. WAY TO GO EUNICE!!!!

I also have to say Eunice. She could be somewhat of a crybaby at times, but always seemed to have the right intentions. I love Betty White, but Ellen just came off as a cold bitch alot of times. Sort a Southern & bitter Sue Ann Nivens

My sympathy definitely goes to Eunice. Sure, she was a classic case of arrested development, throwing tantrums when the slightest thing didn't go her way. Yet, looking at her childhood, it's really no wonder. Thelma inarguably favored Ellen, and Eunice never got any support for her ambitions. Is it any wonder she grew up to be an insecure adult?
Plus, I like that at one time (in another universe, seemingly), Eunice and Naomi were drinking buddies! (t least that's what Thelma alluded to in the special Eunice.) |
