I watched tonight's episode of Twins and thought it was merely okay, nothing special. Looking forward to seeing Earl after all the positive mentions here.

Twins 4/10. I adore Sara Gilbert but the writing stinks, Melanie Griffith is looking like a real life "Corpse Bride"
How I Met Your Mother 9/10. Okay, I am a little biased since my favorite actress is in this, but it actually was funny and has a great potential, but I think the Neil Patrick Harris character will get old fast.
Out Of Practice 8.5/10. Very strong cast and it's nice to see former Popular co-star Gorham as the lead for once, especially with a supporting cast that includes Winkler, Channing and Tilly. Strong potential and I definately plan to tune in again

(I missed Everybody Hates Chris)

other genres:
Bones 7/10. It seems to be doing very well ratingswise. It's a nice little forenzic show, but don't we have enough of them? At least David Boreanaz is showing that he isn't going to be typecast as Angel for the rest of his life, also the lead characters obliviousness to all pop culture references is getting old in week two (example: "people think we are so Mulder and Scully" "I don't understand").
Supernatural 10/10. Best new series. There seems to be a ton of sci-fi/horror shows on the horizon this fall, but this show has got it perfect. I was hooked on it from the first episode and I think if the rest of the season is as good as the first two episodes, this is going to be the next big cult phenomenon. Both leads are great and the show is doing something that hasn't been tackled on television since the early days of The X-Files (a show this will likely have a lot of comparisons to)... making television that is actually scary.

I've seen a few sitcoms. Out of Practice, Twins (both episodes so far), and the yet to to debut Freddie and Hot Properties. I've liked them all a bit, Freddie's pilot is weak, but ABC is going to show episode two first (so it'll be new to me when it debuts Oct. 12), then the pilot the week after (Oct. 19). I'm not into one camera sitcoms really, so My Name is Earl is not my type. I didn't personally get a chance to watch the other marquis sitcoms like How I Met Your Mother and Everybody Hates Chris, but we did review them here at SitcomsOnline! We can start counting the days for the soon to be canceled Kitchen Confidential, Love Inc and The War at Home. Other than that, the new sitcoms seem to be doing OK so far.

On the drama side, Invasion is plain awesome. I think it is a perfect companion to Lost. It'll deliver like DH and Grey, as a good one-two combo. Commander in Chief is probably the most anticpated series premiere next week, I haven't seen it personally, but someone on our staff is reviewing it. I've heard good things about it. Tuesdays 9pm will be jammed with hits this year.

Of all the series I 've seen so far, my two favs are Supernatural and My Name is Earl. Earl comes out of the gate with superb writing, a LOT of laugh out loud moments, very well done. Supernatural is just awesome! Great special effects, great writing, awesome leads. You can deffinately tell the creator McG was really paying attention to other creators like Chris Carter and Joss Whedon. Two huge thumbs up from me

Of all the others I've seen so far, Bones I do like. I have to agree with Rob (not biased, tha's fer sure) I can't get passed the lead female so far, she just doesn't seem convincing to me. Love David Boreanaz though, although I do see a minor similarity (very minor similarity) to Angel. Only the redemption factor, but I think that's just a coincidence. Criminal Minds I did really like, but the end just left me scratching my head a bit. Twins is just ok. War at Home is kinda just trying so hard it's uncomfortable. Kitchen Confidentaial was Ok, I'm still giving it a bit of a chance to see where they're going with it.

I think the biggest dissapointment so far was Invasion (sorry pavanbadal) It was just bad. The acting was bad. I had a feeling the whole time that I have seen this before. (that is pretty bad for a brand new show). I'm thinking it's just another Body Snatchers show. Which is dissapointing, cause I love Sci-Fi. I really wanted to like it , which is why I refused to change the channel and endure the pain.

I 'm waiting for Night Stalker, I was a huge fan of the origianl series. So I'm curious to see how they approach it.

Wow. All critics are hailing about this one. Even TV Guide. I loved it. It might have been a slow moving pilot, but so was Lost. Episode 2 is going to be very interesting. I don't think network television has seen a show like this, maybe in the movies, but not on TV. Keep giving the show a chance because it is going to get better and better, just like Lost is. It's not like anything else is on, unless you are a Law & Order or CSI: NY fan, but those two will take hits opposite this show.

TVGuide agrees: http://www.tvguide.com/TV/Watercooler/

How I Met Your Mother is my favorite new sitcom. I also saw Out of Practice but I didn't really like it and neither do my parents.

Two and a Half Men is the best sitcom out there, however. I don't know if anything can top that one.

Lost pilot SLOW??? Did you see the pilot? That was one of the most adrenalized and intense shows I have ever seen on network television. I don't even see any kind of comparison to Lost at all. What's the difference if it was ripped off of film or TV, the idea isn't original. I don't really care about critics, what do they have to do with me? I'm perfectly capable of forming my own opinions. I and many others usually disagree with them. Everyone I actually know that has watched the show has pretty much described it as painfully bad, at least I rode it out to the end of the ep to see if something could redeem it from it's initial bad impression. It didn't happen, watching the clips for next week only made it seem even more predictable.

I'm not trying to offend you, but that was my thoughts on the series. I thought the characters were one dimensional and predictable, they weren't convincing at all. I just can't see them becoming good actors/characters overnight. I dunno, it just seemed like a cross between the 4400 and invasion of the body snatchers. I think it needs too much work for me to like it, but that's just me.

I don't watch Law & Order or CSI: New York, so I'll just use that hour to catch up on other shows I record on my DVR.

Has anyone else watched Threshold? I haven't seen it yet, but I was wondering if it worth checking out.

I have been disappointed by every new drama so far, maybe Commander-In-Chief will make up for it. But honestly, in some way, I'm hoping it's not all that good as I want My Name Is Earl to succeed.

As for reality shows, I really like The Apprentice: Martha Stewart, even more than the new season of the original.

I'm talking about in terms of the plot. Did we know what the heck "the monster" or whatever we thought it was, is in the pilot? We don't find out until the season finale sort of. Same thing for Invasion, we don't know yet for a fact that aliens have gotten into the bodies. The Lost pilot was two hours, so you knew more about the characters than in Invasion.

I did in fact hear last season before the Lost pilot aired, that the plot is slow, but it still was well hyped. Invasion is the same way, it was well hyped, but not as much as Lost of course. Both critically acclaimed, too.

Lost would be a great series with or without the "monster", i wouldn't say it was slow though. I would say that they did go a little overboard on the build up of suspense, but it still delivered as far as entertainment goes. I just wasn't entertained by Invasion, you pretty much know that there is an alien thing going on, it's pretty linear. You don't call a show "Invasion" and expect to fool people into thinking it's just a show about a hurricane.
