Wow, glad to hear they caught it in time. Does anyone know why her kids go by her maiden last name instead of their father's last name?

Yeah, that's what I was wondering also. I don't know why either.

I swear its strictly for the celebrity. I dated a guy who knew the family (about 15 years ago). He called her a "skank" back then - actually the first time I had ever heard the term and it does fit. He said she was fine until she opened her mouth - which was constantly.
Most "mob" families keep a low profile, but because of her dad's NY celebrity status she would go around bragging all the time. One of the reasons it drove the cops nuts because John always tried to claim he was a "simple plumber". Yeahhhhhh right!

VICTORIA 'CANCER' WAS TALL TALE

VICTORIA Gotti never had breast cancer, as the Daily News claimed on its front page last Sunday — nor did she ever suffer a heart attack or earn a law degree.

Matthew Rich, her publicist of seven years, quit in disgust on Monday because his best friend's mother had died of breast cancer, a source told PAGE SIX. Rich was said to be revolted that Victoria would promote the third season of "Growing Up Gotti" by making up such a tearful tall tale.

When we called for comment, Rich would only say, "I no longer work for Victoria Gotti." Asked if she had ever suffered from cancer, he replied, "No comment."

The daughter of legendary Gambino crime boss John "Dapper Don" Gotti was quoted in the News as saying: "The day I got my mammogram and the doctor told me I had breast cancer, it was in mid-November. I had a little pity party for myself and I cried all day . . . I lost 25 pounds . . . I was so exhausted, I could barely lift my arms."

But Gotti backed away from the story Monday night on CNBC's "The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch."

The 42-year-old mother-of-three said she was not diagnosed with breast cancer as reported in the News, but with pre-cancerous cells she chose to treat aggressively before it became cancer. "What I had can be described as a scare," she said on the show.

She told us yesterday: "I could leave it alone and watch it, or get surgery. I chose to be aggressive and get the surgery." The surgically-enhanced blonde describes herself now as "100 percent well."

News columnist Joanna Molloy said: "Don't tell me Victoria is shape-shifting the truth again. She told us in January she had breast cancer, and that's the reason she took a leave of absence from Star magazine. She told us again last week, and we recorded it."

It might not be the first time Gotti has made a bogus bid for sympathy. A former friend said Victoria confided four years ago she had breast cancer, "but then she went into work the next day as if nothing had happened. I didn't believe it then, and I don't believe it now."

The News also goofed in reporting that Victoria suffered a "heart attack" a few years ago at one of her sons' basketball games. "The original story said 'heart incident.' An editor changed it to 'heart attack,' " Victoria told us yesterday. In another howler, the News stated, "She got a law degree."

At St. John's University, the only college Gotti has ever been known to attend, spokeswoman Suzi Halpin told us, "We have no record that she graduated from St. John's."

Gotti told us: "I have no law degree. I never had a law degree. I don't know where that got started."

She is annoying, but that Luigi guy is hilarious. He should have his own show, complete with the subtitles.

I officially hate her. Who would lie about something like that? I mean, I've lied about having the flu before, but who would lie about having something like cancer? She's probably doing this 'cuz the ratings for the show ain't so hot anymore. She should be ashamed of herself.

Turns out they seemed to have embellished the "cancer" story. Just reading about it in this article. She claims you have to look it up to see what she means - I did - and she's full of it. She had a very common condition that puts you at a higher risk for breast cancer, but it isn't cancer.

IMO, she's nothing more than a spoiled attention-whore who felt her boys were getting more limelight than her lately on their stupid show, and this is her way of trying to get some attention/sympathy. Infuriating considering so many women are truly facing breast cancer. Get over yourself Gotti!

Victoria Gotti Denies Lying About Cancer
Wednesday August 24 10:03 AM ET

Victoria Gotti denied Wednesday she lied about having breast cancer but acknowledged her diagnosis showed she had "precancerous cells."

"What I have is considered by most to be cancer. Noninvasive cancer," Gotti said in an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America."

"If you look it up on the Internet, it is cancer," added the daughter of late mob boss John Gotti. "They refer to it as noninvasive cancer."

The New York Post, which carried a front-page headline declaring "Gotti's sick cancer scam," reported Wednesday that Gotti never had breast cancer as she had told the rival Daily News.

"I could leave it alone and watch it, or get surgery," Gotti told the Post. "I chose to be aggressive and get the surgery."

She made similar comments Monday night on CNBC, according to the Post.

The News had reported Sunday that Gotti, 42, kept the news to herself hiding her treatments from her three sons and the producers of their reality show, "Growing Up Gotti" on the A&E network.

Gotti told ABC the News article "was for the most part accurate."

"The reporter was not lying," she said. "She was not embellishing."

"Everyday since this happened, people have been asking me, 'Well, do you have cancer? Or is it not?'" Gotti said. "There's no easy way to explain that. It is the illness. You have to look it up to understand it."

So I looked it up and this is what the American Cancer Society says about it:

Breast Cancer FAQ: Treatment for precancerous breast conditions

Q: What are the treatments for precancerous breast conditions? (LCIS, DCIS, atypical hyperplasia)

A: Atypical hyperplasia, LCIS (lobular carcinoma in situ) and DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ) are also called non-cancerous or pre-cancerous breast disorders. Although they are not life-threatening, they are associated with an increased risk for developing breast cancer later. LCIS and DCIS are also referred to as "Stage 0" breast cancer.

Treatment depends on the extent of the disease and the presence of other risk factors, such as family history of breast cancer. Treatment for atypical hyperplasia or LCIS may be as simple as increased monitoring with mammography and clinical breast exam, or may include tamoxifen or surgery. Treatment for DCIS may include surgery, radiation therapy, and/or tamoxifen.

Any of these areas of the breast can undergo changes that cause symptoms. The 2 main groups of breast changes are benign (not cancer) breast conditions and breast cancers. This document reviews the types of benign breast conditions. The most common benign breast conditions are fibrocystic change, benign breast tumors and breast inflammation. Breast cancer is discussed in detail in our American Cancer Society document called Breast Cancer.

Benign breast conditions are very common. If breast tissue is examined under the microscope, such changes can be found in 9 out of 10 women.

Unlike breast cancers, benign breast conditions are never life threatening. But rarely, these conditions can cause bothersome symptoms. And, certain benign conditions are linked with an increased risk of developing breast cancer.

9 out of 10 women are walking around with the same condition she has, but she has to play it up like she has cancer. What a maroon!

Really, well, I should have known. Wow. As for the breast cancer scare, that's crazy. I can't believe her. I hate the way her boys talk to her and disrespect her but she allows it and she talks the same way. She gets frustrated with those boys but it's her fault. Those boys go out and buy furs and anything else they pretty much want. If I had what she had and could spend $$$$ without a care in the world, I would have my kids spend time with underpriviledged kids, poor kids, troubled kids, help out at shelters, something. That's why I loved Princess Diana, she used her status to her advantage and taught her boys there is a world outside the palace. She took them to places so they could see what it is like to be poor.

Seeing as who her father was, I'm not surprised she did something like this.

That's exactly how I got with it. Actually, I have to laugh at Luigi, but you know its all staged and setup. There's no way she would have allowed him to get away with some of the crap he did - that's the big thing I hated about the show soon after watching - you could tell so much of it was b.s. and staged - like Anna Nicole .

And she spoils those boys like she was spoiled. I'll bet she talked back to her mother something awful - but was daddy's little girl - barf ' n gag! She's been like that all her life apparently - a real loud-mouthed drama queen. Too bad she couldn't shut up long enough - her next job could be her own wax figure in Madame Tussaud's she's so plastic.
