I havent watched it yet. But if I read the box correctly -- does this contain an episode of "Diagnosis Murder"?! |

I got mine today too! I haven't watched any of it yet, but I noticed something weird: The episode I'd always thought was called Pink Pills and Purple Parents is listed as Pink Pills for Purple Patients on the back of the disc case. Odd.
Still, I'm thrilled that it's finally here. I guess Amazon.com isn't so slow after all.

I've been watching season four for the last few hours now, and it's great! As for my previous puzzlement over the title of episode #106, the DVD box and the on-screen menu call it Pink Pills for Purple Patients, but in the opening, the title comes up as Pink Pills and Purple Parents. At least I know I wasn't just remembering incorrectly all these years. Either way, it's still one of my favorite episodes. The look on Laura's face as she slides under the table ("I dropped my spoony...") is priceless. I rarely laugh out loud, but I did, several times, while watching this episode again.

Just as for Season 3, I got my Season 4 set in the mail from Amazon today, the day after it was set to appear in stores. I checked out Fry's Electronics and Barnes & Noble today and didn't see Season 4 for sale in either place, so I guess Amazon's the best way for me to go, and I fully expect to get Season 5 on June 30.

Amazon.com or DeepDiscountDVD.com are the best places to buy them. I've found that if I go anywhere else, they are a lot more expensive.
I found another good quote from season 4 yesterday. In episode 101, Romance, Roses and Rye Bread. When Rob says "Waiting for an Arm-r-adillo," mimicking the way Burt said it. That's cracks me up every time. lol

My copy of season 4 arrived today from Amazon.com. I only ordered it 3 days ago so I was a bit surprised to see the box on my doorstep when I came home.
Although there are a lot of great episodes in season 4, this set also has the greatest number of episodes that I never really liked and will change the channel every time they are on TV. I may watch them once on the DVDs but mostly will skip over them. They are: The Lady and the Babysitter: I never liked that kid, maybe because he was in love with Laura like I was as a little kid and I always perceived him as competition. Romance, Roses and Rye Bread: I guess I feel sorry for Burt; even desparate-for-any-man Sally rejects him. The episode is sad and painful for me to watch. The play Laura goes to is dopey too! The Alan Brady Show goes to Jail: I never liked any of the stars' actual performances (which is why I won't watch the Christmas show either). I usually fast forward past a song and dance act, but this episode has too many. Oddly, part 1 of this episode (4 1/2) is one of my favorites of the entire series! Stacie Petrie Parts 1 and 2: Not a fan of Jerry Van Dyke. Oh well, everyone has their own tastes. 5 out of 32 episodes isn't bad. I hope you all are enjoying your season 4 DVDs!!! |

Just Finished Watching Season 4. All in all, pretty darn good,
My Favorites are The Ghost of A Chantz- Four grown people sleeping in the same bed with their clothes on. I remember the first time I saw this and was really scared. I think I was 10 but still. There is no sale like Wholesale- Rob "Sally, I think it would be perfect for your aunt. " Sally " I dont think it would fit my uncle" Pink Pills & Purple Parents- A classic and way ahead of its time. I usually skip - A Farwell to Writing. Tthe scenes in the cabin are too long and I would have driven away too. Both 41/2 and the Alan Brady show goes to jail arent my favorites. Not a big Don Rickles fan, |

Wow Dorothys BestPal, you watched the entire season already?! I've only watched the first episode so far, which was hysterical. That drunk in the bar calling Rob monkey, "Hey monkey, you on television?", still makes me laugh out loud!!
I only watch one, maybe two episodes a night so I can savor them. I won't watch it at all tonight, Goodlife airs two episodes of The New Dick Van Dyke Show every Sunday night so I watch them instead. I'm sure you are anxiously awaiting season 5 and the reunion show as I am. |

I finished watching season 4 last night. I enjoyed every episode! I especially liked watching "The Dick Van Dyke Show Remembered" that Charles Kurault (sp?) hosted.

Yes, it's on disc 5. I found it after I watched "There's No Sale Like Wholesale."

Jorgy,
I watched it last night, and it was perfectly compiled, and so well done that I found myself laughing out loud at stuff I've seen for decades! Another thing I like about it is that it was not remasterd. It's shown as is. That's good because it really points up the quality of the work that went into digitally remastering the picture and sound of these dvds. Steve |
