Trust me Pav, it's not in there

not any shot of Raj dropping to the floor once he's handed the bag. It segues from that scene as Raj takes the bag like morbid1nonly described it. It's the same on the Time Life dvd as it is Columbia.

Why, because a two second scene was edited out?

I think that statement is a little overboard Solomon. I'm happy with the DVD. I'm glad I have it.

I don't care if it was 2 or 3 seconds I thought I was paying for UNCUT versions and to find out i don't get to see what viewers saw in the 70's makes me SO MAD. My money was wasted.

In my opinion the DVD was still worth buying, and I will still purchase season 2 and 3 if they come out....

I see what you are saying in one sense because I never bought Sanford and Son season 2 because at least one episode is edited for at least a minute. I guess I held out hope that someone would realize they edited a few episodes (well, definitely 1) and release a corrected set.

But on the other hand, for a mere 3 seconds you know there is no way they are going to release another version of What's Happening.

2-3 seconds sounds like a goof, whereas missing scenes (as in Sanford and Son) is a major oversight.

Is that scene from Sanford & Son in syndication??
Because some old tapes or film may be destroyed over the years.... therefore making it impossible to resurrect.
I might be getting the S&S DVDs for my birthday Friday.... and I was wondering what episode is edited??
And what is the scene that is cut out?

Blood is Thicker Than Junk.

Here is a direct complaint from Amazon that sums it up:

"There are 2 and 1/2 minutes which appear on the syndicated version--the end of Lamont's job interview and the beginning of Fred hiring Lamont's replacement--which are edited from the DVD!! "

The Sanford & Son cut sounds pretty bad, to have a whole couple minutes worth missing isn't good. I would think that these studios just let people in the dvd division handle those releases and they don't work closely enough with whatever department deals with the original episodic materials. I can't believe that they would purposely leave scenes off the dvd release. It's gotta be a case where they assumed what they have is all there was and didn't bother to check to see if that is a complete episode.

Another thing that's possible is that a scene or shot was seen in a syndication run, but not on an original broadcast. It might sound far fetched, but they do that with movies. There are a few shots that aren't included on the "Car Wash" dvd that I definitely remember seeing on tv. I came to find out that supposedly the dvd is how it was shown in theaters, and that some footage was only added for television broadcasts. I read that happened with the dvd for "The Breakfast Club" too, the dvd is how it was shown in theaters, but there are extra scenes when it's shown on tv. It makes no sense, but the studios be like that sometimes.

In the episode from Here to Maternity the final scene opens up with Mrs. Thomas and Raj laughing and you can here the studio audience laughing as well. They obviously cut something out there as well.

Well, you can't really tell unless you know what scene was originally there. Sometimes the studio audience do laugh in between takes. So, it's best not to assume unless you really know. Something SOLOMON does a lot, is assume.
