Post died Saturday morning after a nearly four-year battle with cancer, her manager, Ellen Lubin Sanitsky, tells Deadline. Post is best known for playing public defender Christine Sullivan on NBC's Night Court for 159 episodes between 1984 and 1992. Before that, she starred on 65 episodes of ABC’s The Fall Guy, from 1982 to 1985, as bail bondswoman Terri Michaels. From 1992 to 1995, Post co-starred opposite John Ritter, playing a liberal political reporter on the Linda Bloodworth-Thomason CBS sitcom Hearts Afire. She went on to recur on Scrubs as the mom of Sarah Chalke's Dr. Elliot Reid. In recent years, Post had recurring roles on ABC's The Kids Are Alright and as the mother of Sophia Bush and Lou Taylor Pucci's characters on NBC's Chicago P.D. She also played herself on the Night Court-themed episode of 30 Rock. Post began her career as an associate producer on Alex Trebek’s Double Dare, and began appearing before the camera as a card dealer on NBC’s Card Sharks. She broke into series TV in 1979 with guest roles on CHiPs, The Incredible Hulk and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. Post's death comes a month after Night Court co-star Charlie Robinson died at age 75. Her death also comes amid NBC's plans for a Night Court reboot. Post's family said in a statement: “But for us, our pride is in who she was in addition to acting; a person who made elaborate cakes for friends, sewed curtains for first apartments and showed us how to be kind, loving and forgiving in an often harsh world." |

I know that this sounds shallow, but I thought that Markie was more beautiful on Hearts Afire than she was on Night Court. Maybe it's because by then, she had a more flattering and timelesss hairstyle (straight, shoulder length blonde hair with bangs) than the inherently '80s feathered mullet look that she had for most of her run on Night Court.

I have never seen Hearts Afire. But I liked the mullet on Night Court, it was a lot better than the really short hair the last few seasons that was not a good look.
